Another benefit of using two PCs: the main PC can crash, you still are live on the stream, you can restart the game without losing all the viewers. ;)
dude you're like smart smart lol
this is my main reason. i'm building a new gaming PC anyway, i'll just keep using the existing PC (that currently runs OBS+game) for just the streaming/OBS stuffs
@Zvala Too minor to take seriously
@Zvala wouldn’t the bill be higher when using 2 PCs?
Streaming BSOD Pog
Thanks for this! I've got two PCs and I've wondered what the "streaming + gaming PC" setup actually looks like, and this definitely helps. Thanks for putting this out.
I. LOVE, the aesthetic of that mic setup at the beginning.
Thanks for all the great content, bro. I've used like 20 of your videos to setup my stream and youtube.
I'd like to add that you can also share audio between computers with software like voicemeeter - basically a software mixer that allows you to send different channels to any computer in the same network and is a pretty neat solution for a dual PC streaming setup :)
Hi can you help me? im trying to setup Dual pc but i cant get the audio feed out in my streaming PC :(
do you have a video on this? if so please link it here id like to transfer my mic audio connect to my 1 pc to my main one...i do have voicemeeter but only for sound adjustments..
Simple, easy and straight to the point explanation, thank you!
Clean and precise content. Congratz my dude. Helped a lot.
Thanks!
I like the microphone used in the mixer graphic! I just got one of them, as well!
Q2U ftw
Fantastic video telling it how it is -- thank you EposVox
Seeing this kinda helps me think through the dual setup.
I assure you this tutorial is not stupid. Thank you for the help.
Great job explaining!
Thank you very much for this video!
Definitely looking forward to your future videos on this topic. I'm on the fence as to whether to go back to single PC streaming
Did you keep the dual pc or did you ditch it 2 years later 🧐
Dual PC is awesome! But for now I'm just fine with my single PC setup, and like the simplicity of it. Good video, as always!
ur pc specs?
@@rudraksharoy3594 You either need a really nice CPU like a 3900X or a Turing GPU from Nvidia, because of the NVENC encoder it has on board. My son's PC only cost $750 but he can stream on because of the 1660 Super GPU. Hope this helps.
@@GraybeardGiffTech and a better connection than 25/5 PepeHands
@@rudraksharoy3594 I run a ryzen 7 3800x / 32gig 3200mhz ram / 2080ti and my single PC streaming is smooth. Never have had a problem so far. And I use x264 encoder. Epos secret settings as well.
@@aes210 could you please share those settings? 10900k+2070 Super, trying to use x264 as well
That MS Paint overlay was fire dude. LOVE IT! =D
This was super helpful
For the Audio part, can we use just a simple AUX cable from line out of the gaming PC to Line in on the streaming PC?
Hey @EposVox - I was wondering if there's an easy way to separate audio that's coming from the Gaming PC that's being sent to the Stream PC? Like say I'm using discord or music on the gaming pc as well as the game.
Or is the better option to run as many things as possible on the stream pc (music, discord, etc) and only send the game audio to the stream pc if I want separate audio tracks?
(thinking about for editing purposes.)
Hey Epos, I have an unusual situation that I hope you can help me with. I am planning on dual PC recording but I have a 21:9 (3840x1600) monitor. Planning to record OBS 4K with other sources taking up the 560 pixels of black space at the bottom such as face-cam etc. I know that most capture cards don't do odd-ball resolutions that well but will this work because it's in standard 16:9 4K overall or will it fail because it's transferring the 21:9 signal? If so, what do you think is the best card for 3840x1600 recording?
Regarding a mixer: how many channels do you recommend and what features should it have when shopping for one?
amazing, thanks
SO here's a question for you EposVox, Do you have to have all of your OBS settings like your encoding bitrate, resolution, canvas size (Things like that) done and setup to the other computer, OR can you just have the base feed ( Just OBS and your raw screen capture, nothing else ) sent over to the streaming PC, and have the dedicated streaming PC add on all of your Screen/Web/Camera capture to the first PC's capture? Silly question, but i'm curious.
What camera are you using in the intro?
That's soo smooth and clean
Another way to send the image (instead of duplicate or passthrough hdmi): run OBS on the gaming PC to get the game capture and send the preview to the gpu hdmi port ; you can send the audio as well through hdmi (monitor). Also careful NDI is YUV 4:2:0 downsampled (like the Elgato 4K60 Pro). The AVerMedia card does 4:4:4 in XRGB.
Yeah but if you're running OBS on gaming PC you're already missing half of the performance benefit of doing dual pc
@@EposVox it's very lightweight doing only a preview (much less than NDI and almost only GPU usage, around 3% on my RTX 2080 Ti with 1440p 60 fps output), and it has some advantages: you can still use the DisplayPort on the main PC and have G-Sync / variable framerate = can play 1440p 120 Hz like I do, and get a smooth 60 Hz preview for the capture, even using just a Full-HD capture card (sending the preview already in Full-HD). But yep, thanks for the quick answer and advice. xD
And another trick I'm doing: no need for any mixer, I get the game sound from the HDMI capture ... and the mic is directly on the streaming PC, that's it (with RTX Voice & compressor and all, yep using a lot of resources but it's on the stream PC we don't care :p ).
@@FredCHAUNIER @eposvox I use this setup successfully too. OBS and Discord on the gaming PC don't hit hard at all, then all Gaming PC Audio to stream PC via 'Listen to Stereo Mix on Elgato HD60 Pro'. Mic levels and Stereo Mix levels balanced on Gaming PC.
@@FredCHAUNIER Hi Can you help me set this up? thanks
@@dw300 Hi can you help me on this please thanks :)
Yo @eposvox , do you have any issues with circuit breakers tripping with all the tech in your room? I can’t run both of my computers and my monitors in my room without my circuit tripping, so I have to route my streaming PC to a different room. Just wondering!
just what i need
Hello, I hope you can see this; but what capture card do you recommend to get the 2 PC setup right? Thanks
Yo Epos, thanks for all your vids! They've helped me so much. Hopefully you see this.. my question for you is, if I'm running a single PC setup, ryzen 7 3800x, 32gig 3200mhz ram, rtx2080ti founders, and I play 3440x1440.. what encoder should I use? I've seen your other videos and so far I've been having great results using x264 medium (sometimes slow) using your secret settings.
Just want your direct opinion as I switch back and forth and test all the time. X264 has been great for me so far..
Seriously, you're the best dude. Thanks for all your hard work!!!
Nvenc New
it looks like your setups would do about equally well with x264 vs Nvenc new. Tip try to downscale the resolution of what you upload to streaming platform to 1920x1080 (bicubic), its half the pixels and most screens are still full HD and not Q/UHD so they won't notice the extra detail anyways. Experience: I managed to get 100FPS for ~3 hours on a single outdated computer, NVIDIA 1070 GPU with i700HQ CPU, playing and streaming from the same PC.
First I wanna say thank u for all the time u put down on all of your videos. Now the question, i run dual setup NDI over 1gig switch aslo i run 250/100 line, on the stream pc i run x264, cpu preset slower (ryzen 3600, 1660ti) i find that my streams looks grainy. The cpu load is not hitting over 67%. Using lanczos, bitrate 6000, cbr keyframe 2 base output is 1920x1080, output resolution 1600x900. On the gaming it is set to 2560x1440 on base and output. I dont get any dropped frames, but im not satisfied with the quality. What am I doin wrong? Is it the base output on the stream pc that is set wrong or should i countinue to go down on the cpu presets?
Just moved to a dual PC. So much work and bugs getting it running like it needs to. But finally got it
If you can afford a dual pc setup it is imo the way to go even if both systems are low to midrange over a single high end system. Imo the only disadvantages of going dual pc is the extra cost and technical setup but imo its worth it by giving you a lot more power and control over your stream.
The only extra cost is a capture card, software only voicemeeter is required.
@EposVox so i have RTX 2060 can i use that for encoding? That Nvec thing? Or my cpu amd 3700x
You're the best!
Around!
Nothing's gonna ever keep you down
Thank you
For music streaming (when using a DAW): save yourself a headache and go dual pc. Trust me.
Yup! That CPU can really hit the stream hard.
This is exactly why I came here. Thank you
hi EposVox im a new streamer.. is using a DSL connection for streaming really affects the quality of the stream? i have 10 mbps upload speed.. and i stream on facebook i am using a dual PC setup as well.. thank you in advance
Hello there. Just wanna ask. Currently im using laptop to streaming and gaming. With i5 9300h Rtx 2060. Im planning to 2nd build budget for streaming since i got capture card. What specs do u suggest? Thanks
The main purpose and reason of a 2PC setup is very simply just removing the load of having to stream/record on one PC. Sure, you can have the best gaming setup but stress load is stress load and your performance will be reduced no matter how good ur rig, I have a 3080, R95900X and 32gb of 3600mhz and I run on a dual pc setup therefore I get the exact same performance as I would if I wasn’t streaming/recoding.
Should I use hardware or software enconding on a 2pc stream? I know hardware is preferred in a single pc (if you can). But it seems you mentioned doing h.264 in this scenario.
Hey @EposVox! I have the 4K60 Pro Mk 2.. when connecting gaming pc HDMI IN to elgato and HDMI OUT from elgato back into gaming monitor, the monitor doesn’t recognize it! Forcing me to clone the monitors for it to work but I always see frame drops. Have u seen this issue before?
I have an AMD Ryzen 3950x for streaming. It shouldn't affect the PC performance while playing any game and streaming at the same PC. What are the configurations you recommend for this kind of setup? I've tried the slow configuration, 1080p 60fps and it stutters. Can you help me with this?
Hello @eposvox i have question , i have dual pc .streaming and gaming but i wanna do stream ,but i had isssue with sound , ( i wanna keep using Sound Blaster apps , should i get Sound Blaster AE-9 ? it's will work ? or have another way?
Honestly..NDI works pretty damn good. Better then I thought. I would try that route. You may be surprised.
I have been able to put up with all of the headaches of display cloning...except for the alt tabbing. 10-15 second alt tab freezes are MY NIGHTMARE. 1440p144hz gaming with a monitor lacking hdmi 2.0 and a dual pc setup = a bad time right now. We need more monitors on the market.
I have been running a 2 pc setup for 4+years I highly recommend it especially if you play slot of beta or early access games!! Good video!
What's the specs of your 2 pc?
@@MrRukanachi Ryzen 7 1700 16 gb ram AMD r9 380
@Aims Yes because if you have to restart your gaming PC stream dosen't go down.

What about streaming VR gameplay using a 2nd PC(Laptop)?.. Will my Steam/Recording 2nd PC/Laptop be able to capture audio from my VR headset microphone and Game PC at the same time?
hi, would I be able to stream with much better settings like higher graphics with two PCs?
can you run the hdmi to the cap card then just a disp to monitor from main compouter?
2:58 - GPU allocation bug! Can you explain more??? I have an issue where my graphics seems to not work fully for my games while streaming and my toughts are that the GPU spends more energy somewhere else then in my game, there for I'm curious to hear your problem. Thank you
2 PCs is in my opinion better, generally you'll get a better image quality, with zero impact on your gaming pc, I've tried both. Starting out - without doubt on a single pc is the way to go its just vastly more simple. Audio issues aside with 2 pc setups, once you've got it resolved its fine. I found that using the same HDMI to send audio aswell as video to my stream pc always ended badly as audio would start drifting by 40ish ms every now and then ending up at the end of the stream with a few seconds delay, using something like AudioMeeter Banana whilst ALOT more complex (especially if you already have a complex setup on your gaming pc as I do) however allows you the flexability of being able to push all the audio through a single cable - in my case, game audio, voice chat (as a separate channel), and my mic - I can control the levels those audio channels go out at and what level I hear them in my headset.
W8 isn't it called "VoiceMeter Banana"?
therollo9 yes it is called Voicemeeter Banana, what do you need help on?
I tried streaming myself playing Destiny 2 but it had horrible delays when pressing buttons or moving the mouse.

Hi, EposVox!
I have everything setup correctly, but one thing is just killing me... How do I separate the audio tracks in my OBS on the streaming PC? Everything is routed through the LINE IN cable from the GoXLR into the streaming PC? Please help.
Does stream PC most be powerful?
What lowest PC could record and stream 1080p60 with capture card
What kind of specification need for second PC ( streaming one) .
Really appreciated your video , I am from India
An AMD 2700 and a graphics card that can handle 60fps 1080p video should be cheap and powerful. I have a 2700x and a 550Ti (lol) in my streaming rig.
It comes down to how you are encoding the video at the end. If you are using x264 which is processor heavy then you are going to want to have a system with more cores (AMD is the leader in this at the moment). If you are going to use the GPU via NVENC then you can get away with a lot less in the CPU department. I believe most Nvidia GTX cards come with the NVENC encoder chip as of now.
Very helpful! I have a 2018 Mac mini w/ 6core coffeelake, just collecting dust...Could I use my Mac to stream, while PC for gaming? Zero info online covering my question.
In theory yes. You would need to either use an external capture card or NDI to get the feed into the Mac Mini however. I would just double check that if you buy a capture card it is compatible with your mac.
I'll buy your Mac mini if you're in the USA
It is possible to record the gaming pc with a low profile pc at 1080p 60fps (record, not streaming)? i was planning to use my old pc that has an FX-6300 and 8gb DDR3 1600mhz. i was planning to bought a low-end gpu, something like GT 710 or R7 250/360
look, it ain't often when it happens but when i'm already already i'm all ready.
I have a ryzen 7 3750h and a 1660ti on my laptop, should i go with x264 or NVENC for encoding?
I thinking to buy a streaming pc because i play competitive, and it effects my game while streaming on the same pc so it’s basically like a console but instead it’s a pc. Same setup with the elgato?
I have a question, say I want to do some VR streaming, how would I stream audio when I'm moving around a room in VR? Like do I get a modmic, condenser mic, the VR headset mic? What should I do in that case?
You could get a rode go. Or something similar with a lav mic and put that signal into your computer or audio mixer.
if i have pc with specification corei5 4460 with intel HD only, it can be capture the primary pc with this ndi without use graphic card??
Will this improve frame rate drop when streaming?
Im building my own new pc with a rtx 3060 and i5 11400, and my old pc have 16 gb ram i5 9400f and a gtx 1650 super will it be good as a streaming/recording pc?
I may be late on the comment but here goes. I will be dipping my toes into streaming and video editing. I have a high powered gaming pc already and will be building a dedicated streaming rig. How would I set it up to stream from my main pc as well as ps4 & ps5. Do I need multiple capture cards? Can someone point me in the right direction?
Why are you switching back to the broadcaster mic look? I appreciate the new lighting that it comes with though
I'm not necessarily - as stated in the on-screen text at the beginning, this was shot 16 months ago lol

It's funny, how every single advice video out there is about the proper encoder setup, etc and audio is mostly assumed to just work. Meanwhile for me, it's been the other way round, even with a GOXLR and a Procaster, audio has been absolute hell so far...

Would love to get you input on Ryzen APUs for 2nd PC. I want to go mITX for a SFF streaming box so want to skip an Nvida card if possible.
You really don't want to use an apu or igpu (quicksync) for encoding. ITX would only be possible if you use an usb powered capture card as you still need a little gpu for rendering scenes. I'd futureproof and get an atx board.

This video doesn't show you step by step but I appreciate the effort in telling us.
It wasn’t a step by step guide. An intro to the subject and discussion of single vs dual pc streaming, as the title stated.
@@EposVox Of course thank you for putting out the video.

Dear EPOSVOX does a stock AMD3900x or 3950x stream games at a higher fps than a stock intel 9900k due to the extra cores?
No. Almost no games utilize more than the 8 cores/16 threads of the 9900k, which wins on faster Instructions per Clock (IPC).
with a dual PC, do you need a better pc to handle the streaming?
Uff really need this kind of setup, BUT budget seems to go way higher than my pockets can afford :(
