Rod nails it. Reform and Farage and Tice just want to board the gravy train, not to derail it. The liberal consensus has to be broken. As charismatic as Farage is, he is still as postwar Boomer liberal consensus politician, who disavows remigration and properly stopping "asylum seekers".
If Reform is the only hope, we are fcuked. Until they properly embrace anti-immigration and anti-multiculturalism and commit to mass remigration, we will wither away.
Come on Britain vote Reform UK 🇬🇧 We want our country back!!!Starmer has said on UA-cam that he must protect Muslims he must protect Mosgues, TRAITOR, TRAITOR, TRAITOR!!!!!
Except hes not. I have no problem with reform, i voted for them, but 75% of tory voters that voted for em last time will go back to the tories next. Reform has got to go after the labour voters
It is absurd to say that Reform lack ideology. It's rather like saying Starmer's wardrobe lacks good suits. Rod is usually right about everything, but he has got this one wrong.
He’s like miserable Hitchens He has to critique out of misery alone Nigel and Tice have been clear on economic stuff for a long time certainly Nigel Boring little mind
And what's wrong with being a Thatcherite anyway? She didn't get everything right but nor, unlike most of those before her, and all those that followed her, did she get everything wrong.
I would have thought that returning UK to it’s once proud state of controlling its borders, returning education to how it was before woke ideologies set in, looking to fix immigration, leaving net zero is more ideological than either of the big 2 just my thoughts 😅
I think (hope) and believe Rod is wrong about Reform. I think we are having a significant rebalancing just as Trump has caused in the US. One can but hope.
Rod Liddel ,remember Nigel fararges famous speech in Brussels, well your not laughing now,I can’t help but think that he will be using them very same lines in the near future, reform uk is the only hope for our country
Bull! The other parties have shown their worth and the result is the mess this country is now in! We need something new and that something is Reform UK!
Farage is very tin skinned, and has reputation of been difficult to deal with, let's up Richard tice, leads reform again, he has a ever lasting smile of optimism
The number of life long Tory voter like myself that i talk to that say the Tories took the Piss out of us for 14 years and i will never vote Tory again is incredible , Everybody i know that voted Reform is joining the party and vowing to vote Reform in next years council elections and at the next general election. Tories dream on you are only fooling yourself now !.
I think Rob is right - like it or not we have basically a two party version of democracy so all we can hope for is that the Conservatives evolve into something like Reform (but with a more fleshed out policies on economy etc), meaning unfortunately Reform's use will be gone and it will fade away.
I like Rod Liddle but I think he's wrong about Reform, they are not reactive, there's plenty of foresight and ideas flowing through the party. Some people just don't bother to look, they just continue to absorb what opponents say.
Sorry you are wrong Reform is here to stay, and have more morels than your the party who are known for sitting on the fence, that backpedal on university fees and trying to over turn our Brexit vote I would trust Nigel over Labour conservatives Green or Liberals
Reforms reactive politics is possibly what is needed. As politics is now on a world platform, leaders have to be willing to react. Wether thats reacting by digging their heels in even more, or changing to align with whats going on. Some of these politicians seem as if they are like a decade behind.
The Tories should have divided into two parties when they betrayed Thatcher. They were divided then, and still are. it's too late for them now, other than true conservatives to defect to Reform. The Tories are doomed by their denial of that fact.
I’ve voted conservatives since thatcher the first time I could vote . And I’m voting reform. What’s the point voting Tory when they brought in millions of people more than labour , and signed up for net zero , Johnson let millions of Hong Kong Chinese come here when we have a housing crisis . You guys were saying the same thing about brexit that would never happen . Reform will be a UK govt
In recent interviews Farage appears to have sold out his base and offered little hope to those who want real, BIG change. He's just another politician. Sadly.
The social democratic party have some great ideas. Thats why the corporate media wo t give em any airtime. Whether you like it or not what he says about reform is true
And at least another quarter who supported Sir Sleaze in 2024 must be looking for change because they have only seen a change in the Emporer's new clothes.
Maybe the ideology is the problem? Believing in something as an act of faith is more of a religion than anything political. Why not have people running the country that do what is required rather than having some playbook that will appeal only to some out of touch academics so they can talk about it on TV?
I have to agree with Rod on this one. There's a number of issues that I have with Farage, as essentially he is an unreformed Thatcherite. He believes the current highly globalised neo liberal capitalist economic system actually works. He also still supports NATO(a relic of the Cold War - and a warmongering machine in my opinion). He also hasn't truly grasped the problems of mass immigration, he still thinks it's just illegal immigration and the amount of people coming that is the problem - still missing the bigger picture. He also doesn't fully grasp how foreign interests are interfering in the UK's interests : Russian money, Qatari money, Arabic money, the UN, the IMF, the WHO, the WEF, the Eu(still - we haven't really diverged from it), big charities, the multi national companies, etc.
Rod. I normally agree with you on most things but I'm sorry your talking out of your backside regarding the Reform party. We have heard all this before during the general election campaign most TV presenters and commentators said they won't get any seats, well they have now
Rod Liddle is entertaining and interesting to hear from on current affairs. But he's very overrated as far as intelligent commentary. For instance here he's making the very obvious mistake of comparing the early 2000s with today. Very different times due to the proliferation of social media. Everything now is amplified and kept alive in the public eye. In the 90s the Torys could go out of favour, go through a few leaders and get back into favour in the early 2000. Now people have been made far more cynical and political. The Torys aren't just out of favour now, they're hated by almost everyone. They're seen as traitors by most. The reaction against the Torys here isn't even comparable to the 90s and the idea that they'll recover in a few years is a fantasy. His other comments are kind of aimless. Apparently Reform have no ideology? They're reactive? Their leader has been talking about their main manifesto promise for over a decade, immigration.. hardly reactive. Meanwhile the Torys have literally no beliefs or ideologies outside of maybe climate change ideology..
Rod is right about Reform. They have the same lack of vision as the Tories and the same contradiction of wanting absolutely free markets and globalism, whilst trying to appeal to a voter base that want a return of manufacturing and an end to large scale migration. They cannot square that circle and will go nowhere until they make a decision about whether or not they are nationalists or globalists.
The whole point of nationalism and globalism is now a re manufacturing in theory Nigel’s party are aligned with IE closer supply chains that can be done here and still getting a bounce of what can’t and can be done cheaper elsewhere No need to be so binary
You are very funny just opened your eyes and see what's in front of you a nother 5 years either with tories or labour there will not be a country left to save
@@michaelball3250 I am aware that Labour and the Tories are terrible. My point is that Reform cannot be globalist free marketeers in their economic outlook, like Farage, whilst also rebuilding manufacturing and slashing immigration. If Reform try to do all these things at the same time then one half of their programme is going to flounder, exactly as it did under the Tories.
The Tories are toast. Reform UK is the only choice.
💯💯
It's just going too be a new Tory party called reform. They won't mass deport people either.

I like reform but I do agree economically they are missing a trick

They won't mass deport people either. They are all the same.

Utter Nonsense! We desperately need REFORM they are the only party talking sense. The rest are clueless and useless!!
Utter rubbish, farage is useless he has a big mouth but no substance. Poor clacton must have seen it, complain to Westminster.
Very shallow manifesto. I want them to be the solution but i'm not going to praise them for things they haven't done.
Labour and Conservative two cheeks of the same backside.
STARMER, IS TAKING US INTO WW3.
THATS WHY HE HAS BEEN FLOUTING AROUND THE WORLD.

WHY CAN HE BE WRONG ABOUT REFORM, 😕 😔 😪 😭
I thought he was better than being a Lid-Dem, he's gone way down in my estimation !
No ideology in Labour or the conservatives either by that standard.
But no ideology in Reform either!
Rod Little doesn't realise how hated the Tories are.
Reform will take Labour seats
💯 Especially now we've seen how bad this bunch of takers are !
And do nothing.
Who would vote for the serial liar party, aka the Tory party? Or maybe they should call themselves the Not Quite as Bad as Labour Party.
The lab party needs to rebrand itself as the party of DEATH & TRAITORS.
😂
Am l living on the same planet as these people. Reform is doing brilliantly these commentators are so out of touch with their same old monologue.

We've been labouring under the wrong ideologies for years.

Listen at this point we NEED to give reform at chance ffs
Reform are now our only hope, that is if at the end of Labours term there's anything left to save, which at the moment is looking doubtful.
Liddle. We are Reform voters.
We don't want an 'ideology'.
We want PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS to PRESSING PROBLEMS. 'Ideology' is the reason we're in this mess!!!
