A Slumber did My Spirit Seal - CBSE English Poem Class 9 by William Wordsworth. An Explanation by Commander S. Mohan.
William Wordsworth (1770 -- 1850) - A romantic poet of England, he revived romanticism in the British literary circles.
He also had bouts of melancholia; this poem was written during such a period.
A slumber did my spirit seal;
I had no human fears:
She seemed a thing that could not feel
The touch of earthly years.
No motion has she now, no force;
She neither hears nor sees;
Rolled round in earth's diurnal course,
With rocks, and stones, and trees.

Lucy was a different person ( maybe even imaginary). Dorothy was his sister, and it's possible that Wordsworth had portrayed his sister through the figure of Lucy at times.
