Cam or Crank position sensors? I'm sure you've already figured it out as you mentioned last time, but that's probably what I would check next. Thanks for the content, really enjoying it still. Cheers.
or just turn the key to on, let the gauges bounce back, then hold the throttle to the floor and hold it there while you turn the key all the way and crank the engine... it wont start... itll just crank till you let off the throttle... it does this specifically so you can crank it to build oil pressure after oil changes or long run intervals. also for a flooded engine etc... no need to pull the coils...
I don't mean skipped timing, I mean the notches that the cam sensor reads. Some of the newer fb engines have notches instead of teeth or teeth instead of notches. The all have the same spacing, but I wonder if the ECU has trouble interpreting the signal if it's expecting a tooth signal and it gets a notch signal. I don't even know if the signals are different enough to cause an issue.
as they say, the struggle is real. was there no 2.5 from a Crosstrek available? BRZ engine? Almost easier to buy a 2.5 Crosstrek, but you lose the third pedal....
I'm impressed you got a 2.5 Legacy engine in there. You should enjoy the HP increase.
I wish I knew how to fix my own car, but then again I don't have any equipment or my own garage. Very cool watching your work, man.
I'm doing small things : oil changes, differential fluid changes, sound deadening, ect. my car, and learning and appreciating as I go. 👍

is it because the teeth on the cam gear are different? the teeth that the cam sensor reads. I wonder if that would cause an issue
Thinking the same or the timing jumped when he was having trouble with the chain tensioners last episode.......
Yeah I'm thinking timing skipped

you need change ECU ? or program key to start engine ? thanks
That was a bad bearing. Like your video of the 2.5
Can the old ECM power an engine with more displacement?

What type of coolant did you use? It didn't look like the normal Asian blue stuff.
Was recently looking at/considering an oil catch can for my '18 Forester. Any feedback on if it is worth it?
some even recommend a 2-can set up. pcv and ccv sides covered. Apparently, these Subaru fa/fb engines benefit from catch cans and air-oil-separaters
Seems like a timing issue. Maybe crank sensor
I wouldnt touch a Subaru. But good on u. I hope u get it sorted out.
Let's gooooo
