No matter how many times i listen to this song, My whole body gets chills in "We are not dead We have never lived" part. excellent cover, Made me even more proud as a Black-Metalhead.
i must say- as a burzum fan from 94 and forth , burzum built my youth- along this number...your copy... your review/... your remakes----- I could kiss you- they are absolutely in the spirit- youre a god- and you deserve nothing less. fantastic, superb. on and on-all i really want to say= THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do realize that is Varg's voice, right? I mean, he's showing a guitar and a keyboard, where do you think the drums and vocals are coming from? Exactly, from the original track that's playing along with him playing, put's things into perspective doesn't it? If you want actual good covers were one guy really does everything by himself I highly advise you to checkout Lykanthrop on UA-cam, he's amazing (and also has Burzum covers).
The synth sound we listen does not come mainly from that keyboard but from the original. Im also almost certain the original synth used was a Casio CZ5000 because that is certainly what he used in all his ambient stuff until going to prison. He used unedited presets, and I know that cause I own a CZ5000 and its hilarious that I stumbled upon virtually all Burzum synth sounds at first try! 😂
@@SetherianOh, I heard it was a CZ 101, I've been using a .vst to match some of the sounds he used in his earliest albuns, and it's pretty close, might have to check the CZ5000 now, thanks
This, honestly, isn't just a very good Det Som En Gang Var cover, but it's the best cover I've seen on UA-cam of Burzum! Also, what synth/keyboards are you using? These sound AMAZING!!!
You get your tone in a much different way to me and it sounds fucking awesome! I get mine with a Zoom G5 set to Noise Gate > Distortion > Compressor > Noise Gate > Graphic EQ > Acoustic. The Acoustic setting is what really fucks the sound up and makes it sound almost exactly like the Filosofem tone.
+Varskar This particular song is not very difficult, not much tremolo picking and fairly minimalistic but it's a long song and the atmosphere of the guitar is essential. It depends on how fast you learn, but maybe 3-6 months if you are dedicated.
I don't remember the amp settings but I matched the guitar sound in the mix similar to the sound of the original track. I definitely boosted the higher trebles and cut the lower mids.
Good job mate, you are one of the greatest black metal talents i ever saw.. and where did you get that white burzum shirt, i checked amazon and every other relevant page, didnt find it.. help would be greatly appreciated... :) keep up the good work!
+Elliot Pierson There are two guitars audio files recorded but just one guitar for the video. I decided to just include keboard and one guitar for this song.
Stvn2337 Ahh okay I see. I was just making sure that this song did have two guitars haha. How did you mix them together so nicely? Or did you just record both and put one on the left and one on the right?
I played a Roland D50 and it actually is the same synth Varg used for his pre prison albums. I did not use the presets though, but a vst plugin called Nexus
Dat Som Good Shit Varg

That outro riff at 13:20 is just the most beautiful sound ever
Listen to Burzum - Et hvitt lys over skogen. It’s a very similar riff and tone.

My favorite. Those riffs give me chills.
Unreal, I love watching your Burzum covers. Just flawless.
Agreed
The keyboard sound you got is haunting. Great cover! It seems like hardly anybody out there can match Varg's vocals for sheer intensity and feeling.

Long live Burzum And Valfar the true viking metal warriors!

yes windir
what about bathory
@@thegrimm9846 You don't even have to mention it , they are viking metal : )
@@brunomontoya1448 He didn't call it the genre of viking metal, he meant Varg is a viking (Scandinavian) + a metal d00d

Roland D50 apparently
The end riff is genius aswell, I hoped it would last longer.
Very emotional playing. Pure Burzum, pure music. Gotta love this.. Kari from Finland.

geil die Griffe zu sehen, danke. Burzum ist einfach genial.
Really clean! You are nuts!
Just sounds majestic, absolutely beautiful
BURZUM will rise again!!!!!
Loving the Burzum covers keep em coming thanks.
Black metal on white guitar))
So? It doesnt have to be black, its just common.
All Burzum's pre-prison guitar songs where made with a white guitar.
Kevin and Stvn2337 it was a joke
well, Varg *would* like it white, amirite ;)
or does he?... Let's find out! :v
Incridible. Perfect!!!
Your cover gave me goosebumps on my arms... well done!
Duuuuuuuuude! Your tone! Please explain how you get your distortion tone. I've done a Burzum cover but I still couldn't get the tone right.
I just recorded my amp with a microphone. The amp sound is based on the dzl-preset of the amp (Peavey Vypyr 30 watts). There is also reverb and delay.

No stompboxes and yes there are passive pickups.
Stvn2337 Passive is the way to go.
+Stvn2337 Man i've got the same amp, what's your dzl-preset used for this sound ?

Fantastic job.. Congratulations..

3:07 is that a spider rapidly crawling up on the white stripe or something to do with a reflection from out of the window?
I would guess it's dust flowing through air.
