Meet a Mechanical Engineer, Dr Boitumelo Ramatsetse-NSTF-South32 Award Winner-Career Talk(Shortened)

Dr Ramatsetse is a ‘2021 NSTF-South32 TW Kambule-NSTF Emerging Researcher Award’ winner. He received the award for designing and developing a “Reconfigurable Vibrating Screen” (RVS) that separates mineral particles according to size and volumes as demanded by customers in the mining and mineral processing industries. It is a first-of-its-kind solution and is locally manufactured in South Africa. The RVS helps small-scale miners to gradually scale their production at an affordable cost, and addresses their safety, efficiency and productivity challenges.
Ramatsetse was appointed as member of the National Planning Commission (NPC) in the Office of the South African Presidency in 2021 where he will serve for five years. He was also named one of the ‘2021 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans’ winners in the education category.
