Edmonton Oilers 2025 trade deadline assets | Trade Rumors

- With the 2025 trade deadline fast approaching, the Edmonton Oilers are light on assets for GM Stan Bowman to use as trade chips. However our Tyler Yaremchuk did some digging to look for pieces that could be vauluble to the right teams.
While the Oilers dont have any prospects that would be considered untouchables, there are some that could provide value on cheap contracts in the coming seasons.
Who do you think the Oilers should look to move at the upcoming trade deadline?

I would love Jack Quinn out of buffalo, I think we need more scoring/youth, seems to fit the bill. That Holloway kid out of St Louis would be perfect though
😂
We have one of the top teams in the league and Evander Kane will be back for the playoffs. Don't force a trade. Maybe a tough third line center but we are looking good and no need to panic. We're not the Canucks.
Great to have a conversation on what assets we have to move, but fortune favors the bold and this combo of Bowman and Jackson are asleep at the wheel. Missing out on Holloway is screwup #1. But now acting slow on defence. In a game of musical chairs, these two will be left standing, scratching their nut sacks while they wonder what happened when they didn’t strengthen the team enough. In the interim, teams around them are making early moves.
Personally I think they need more grit depth....They are about as tough as drunk dwarf....and the league knows it. Draisailt and McJesus had nothing left in the tank in the last round because of all the physical abuse they had to put up with in the playoffs. they need 2 more Kane type players.
Long shot, but I like Mcarron from Nashville - big body physical grinder. That or O’rielly for more centre depth I think would benefit us most!
@@bluegroll1I agree with you about both of the Nashville players you mentioned and that the price to acquire will be astronomical so therefore not doable. I really like McCarron's physical game and O'Reilly is a savvy veteran with a better body of work than Henrique but having said that he too is going to be too costly. I say we wait until Evander Kane is ready and then decide where there's a position that needs some upgrades or depth.
@@bluegroll1 McCarron, Frederic and Greenway(if he was back from his injury in time for playoffs) otherwise that Gauthier from NYI would be good instead.
@@bluegroll1 He's somewhat affordable yeah. Jason Dickinson is another center we should look at acquiring who is in the same price range. There are guys available and other teams are making moves. It's time for the Oilers to do something.
Mike Matheson would be a huge addition to the Oilers D, even though he's a LD. I feel like Montreal will end up trading him next year anyways and with the emergence of Hutson, they might be willing to part with Matheson this season. Curious what you think of using a goalie prospect for trade bait, like Rodrigue who's been really good in Bakersfield or Vinni, some people think he's the best goalie in last years draft and I believe has elite potential?
Holloway isn't an Oiler anymore and I'm kind of tired of hearing about him. He signed an offer sheet to leave. Actions speak louder than words and by signing the offer sheet it was clear he didn't want to be here. It's better to move on and focus on other players who want to be here. Emberson and Podkolzin have played well for us.
We had a chance to get Holloway back and didnt?
Oilers need tough sizeable forwards like Frederic/McCarron/Greenway or Gauthier (from NYI) to take the beatings away from McDavid and Draisaitl, you could tell they were drained by the beatings they took all playoffs. They also need at least 2 better/stronger D too, Matheson/Savard/Xhekaj or Rasmus Andersson would be most affordable if they were on the trade block.
Mathieu Olivier is my pick....plus Frederik..
Klim Kostin for Skinner would be great for playoffs
I wouldn’t trade skinner , I’d start playing him more. We shouldn’t trade a first round pick either.
Skinner is a great player and just hasn’t clicked
They need to try him and Kapanen with McDavid for more than a game, dont know why the coach and GM cant see this.
@@agitatedangler3436 Because he's either in the press box or playing on the 4th line. I don't really think he's been given the chance to shine - but we don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
@agitatedangler3436 how can he click when he's mostly scratched
We can't trade him even if we want to unless he waives his NMC. If we're stuck with him I agree it's better to use him than to bench him.
The problem is a 2nd, 3rd, & 4th wont get you much of a return. Cody Ceci just was basically traded as a rental for a 3rd. You're not getting a significant upgrade with those 4 picks and the '26 picks are worth less than the '25 picks in terms of value when you look at a pick value chart. So not sure what you're expecting to get for that but it wont be much.
Well said👍 i agree.
Moving Skinner is the obvious move. You dont need a player in the deal Oilers need the cap space. Having that space expands the list of available players they can take on.
Whooooooooa there Gretzky of NOT MOVING Matt Savoie, Sam O'Reilly, or Beau Akey.
Rickard Rakell and Vincent Desharnais 50% retained for Matt Savoie and Jeff Skinner.
Rickard Rakell is $5AAV. RR is Sid's left wing and he also plays right wing.
The biggest mistake this organization has made since signing lucic was not matching the Holloway offer sheet
Imo Hyman and Nuge do not belong on 3rd line.....The coach needs to put the top 6 back together and the 3rd n 4th lines as they should be...and STICK WITH THEM! ....Quite simply the top 6 need to score and bottom 6 need to give the top 6 a breather and not surrender goals, but if they can chip in the odd goal that's good! ...Imo the top and bottom 6 have their roles....The coach needs to stop the constant line juggling! Put the lines back as they should be and be patient. Put the players in their roles and make them earn their paychecks ! ☹
They should trade Bouchard. Not worth anything near the 11m he wants.
Bouchard should play left wing he has no idea how to play defence. Just a puck watcher
@@mangotango2909 we could try him there at 3m a year lol
you people have goodfish memories. he had a literally historic playoff run.
but “hurrrr durrrrr he’s had a rough couple months, let’s trade away our power play quarterback for a bag of pucks”.
i’m so tired or reading these rẽțärded takes.
@@PaidShills we could get a good return for him from a team that doesn't care about defense
Trading him for a goalie would be an interesting move. Most of the better goalies available have NMCs though so it's not going to be an easy trade to make. I'm not sure there's an easy solution to the Bouchard problem but overpaying for him is the worst case scenario. If we have to pay him 10M or 11M to retain him I'd rather spend that money on Rantanen instead. Getting an elite winger to play with Drai or McD is something the Oilers would benefit from far more than what Bouchard offers. We're a puck possession team and I'd love to see us give our centers a premier winger to play with.
They could trade Bouchard for a sack of potatoes
They have Holloway...oh wait .....they have .....never mind
Trade Bouchard get a haul for him cause he blows
Get rid of arvidson
Oilers don't need to make a big swing this year makes no sense and they just don't have the assets or draft picks. What about a solid depth Center say Donato from Chicago?
Stan Bowman is no GM.
These GMs are fxxzz up. They absolutely botched Holloway. Now the team is doing good despite theyve done.
Get rid of skinner
