    -----------------
The Vauxhall VX 2300 GLS, a rare executive car from 1978, is one of only two remaining models. The VX 2300 GLS was an update of the Victor/Ventora FE and was positioned between the Cortina Mk III and the Ford Granada. The VX featured a new grille, a more comfortable cabin, and modifications to the engines, suspension, and rear axle. It was equipped with power-assisted steering, four headlights, front fog lamps, metallic paint, a vinyl roof, pile carpet, velour upholstery, and Continental armrests. However, the car received mixed reviews, with Car magazine describing it as "ten years out of date" and "uninspiring." In late 1977, the GLS model gained tinted glass and a push-button radio. The VX range was eventually replaced by the Carlton in 1978. The VX design was sold to Hindustan Motors in India, where it was produced as the Contessa from 1984 to 2002. The VX 2300 GLS is now considered a classic and is praised for its upgraded engine and clean styling.

My Dad had 3 VX2300 from new. An R reg in Metallic Green an S reg in Metallic Blue and finally a T reg with Power glide auto transmission in Copertone Brown Metallic. Have many childhood memories of all 3 with caravan and camping holidays in the UK and Europe. They had a massive boot and lots of legroom in the back.

I had a VX 2300 GLS Auto in silver. It was a bit gutless but a lovely old car. One of my uncles had a VX1800 estate which was a brilliant old car and he had it for about 15 years ( although I had to fit two new wings on it!) and my other uncle had a VX 2300 GLS manual. Both my uncles' cars were in the same Sapphire Blue Metallic as the one in your exellent feature.

I had a 1974 VX 4/90 in 1979/80. Surprisingly quick car, but, god, what a rust bucket for a car only five years old

Yes I've got memories of the VX 2300 as an absolute rust bucket. If you went out in one on a raining afternoon by the following morning both wings would have rusted through. Very stylish cars that simply fell apart.
