Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003 in Russia. She participated in the Russian TV project "You are super!" in 2018 with the songs "Derniere danse" (French), "It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” (English), “The River” (Russian), “Tomorrow Is A Lie” (English) and won. In 2019, she repeated the success, won the Grand Prix on the TV show "You are super! Superseason." with the songs "Blizzard" (Russian), "Wicked Game" (English), "Human" (English).
In the TV project "You are super!" involved children from 8 to 18 years of age, deprived of parental care and from orphanages. The project producers help the finalists with their studies and creative careers.
A live voice sounds on the project. This is the principled position of the show organizers.
Diana Ankudinova has a unique voice - contralto. Working vocal range from D3 to D6.
Recordings of Diana's performances on the show "You are super!" posted on UA-cam (copyright of the NTV channel). Diana continues her career as a pop singer, gives concerts in Russian cities, studies at the State Institute of Theater Arts. Diana Ankudinova has an official Internet channel on UA-cam. It contains recordings of performances from 2008 to 2021. I recommend visiting this channel.
Diana is 14 here. Diana was an orphan and this show is called "You are Super" (Yes she's Russian and this is a Russian show) and its a showcase for Orphans and disadvantaged children. I watched this many times before I figured out when they picked her up they set her in the boat. :)

The girl in the song is an orphan (same as Diana -- that's the reason she is performing this song in this contest). She has no one to bless her marriage. She goes to the river to summon the spirits there who are also her ancestors. She is hopeful but she knows that river spirits are a force of nature and unpredictable. The girl knows the spirits will not waver (or hesitate, depending on the translation). But instead of giving her a blessing, they take her across the river of death. At the end, Diana submits to her fate. She had nothing and the spirits took from her the only thing she had left -- her life.
Diana's mother was an alcoholic and had several children. Most of them died (murdered), but she was never charged. Diana was just a child. She had a broken collar bone and her mother put her out in the Siberian winter to die. She was found by a neighbor at a bus stop near death. She was later adopted. After she got famous in Russia, her mother tried to find her to demand money. Diana has lots of people protecting her.

Spanish titled “ me voy” with such emotional impact is incredible She’s more than a singer. She’s an actress You will be in awe when you watch and hear her at age 14 on a riverboat cruise ship giving an hour long performance highlighted with her amazing performance mostly in English of a 1920s cabaret song by the famous composer Irving Berlin called “ Puttin On The Ritz” . Not only does she kill it with her vocal electrifying expressions and dance moves but I will not spoil the SURPRISE
that will knock you off your chair ( a 12 second teaser she gives the audience that the late great Fred Astaire would be smiling down on her from heaven). She also performed “ Besame Mucho “ & “ Feeling Good” aboard the same ship. ship.
Also when she won her “you are super” contest she performed a song written by Lara Fabian titled “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” accompanied on the piano by the famous composer Igor.
She sings it in English and the meaning of this song is so spiritual to me: “ only here and now... Tomorrow is a Lie “ ( all that exists is the next moment).
And finally, I hope you someday react to her first Russian Voice appearance prior to “ You Are Super” where the chairs were traditionally turned backward where the judges could not see the performer.
Diana gave an incredible masterful tour de force on Yodeling but when it was over not one judge Turned Their Chairs. In any other Voice kids contest around the world all 4 chairs would have turned within the first minute.
But as soon as these Russian judges turned after it was finished , the audience gave Diana a 5 minute Standing Ovation ( even the judges clapped and gave her a standing ovation). It was later revealed that the contest was “ fixed” and the winner was already predetermined. Caused a corrupt scandal! And if you continue to watch the judges reaction ( in Russian) about near the end they ask Diana to perform another song and she KILLS IT ( a French song). And the woman judge felt so guilty and shameful that after Diana finished the French song , not only did she bury her face and cover it with her arms but also invited Diana to go on stage with her a few days later when the woman judge was giving a concert and Diana sang a song. ( there’s a video of this).

Watch Diana perform Human! In the video of Human none of the judges press their buttons because she had already won and this was an encore song for her. Everybody is just enjoying her sing. She is spectacular!

Very humble person that freely gives her time to help others reach for their dreams. She is now hosting concerts for other children from the same project, believe she hosting one next week. She's in the process of making her first full cd/ album tobe released in May, while attending University and still singing concerts large and small. Diana your a wonderful role model! Here's a link to the song "Blizzard" which she sang for the singing competition You Are Super, which is a show for disadvantaged kids who otherwise wouldn't get an opportunity to showcase their talents. This was her 2nd year on the show - she won the previous year and this was a "champions" edition for past finalists.
This song was her first song of the season. The 2 women judges had not heard her before and you can see their confusion at that voice coming out of that little girl. But by the end of the song you can see they are in love with Diana.

👉 Rechenka/ River - This is an old Russian ritual song: An orphan girl should / wants to get married and goes to the river, the border between the living and the dead, and asks her mother for the blessing (mother's whisper) ... The horses are in the courtyard. The guests are gathered and the wedding celebration begins. In Russia, it was customary to sing sad songs at weddings to scare off evil. This should drive away evil spirits and bring good luck. Such songs were called 'crying'.
Diana's rendition of this song is spectacular, mysterious... great!... everytime. In 2018 Diana sang this song in the singing competition 'You are super' (here, she is 14 years old). She won and received international attention. Since then, millions of people have followed her on UA-cam and her worldwide fan base is growing rapidly.

haha guys. This is an intricate performance actually, this sort of stuff usually resonates more with adult audience because it addresses more of a grounding feelings rather than expressive/intense young people feelings :D don't get me wrong, just saying, older people are all excited about it because there's a lot of techniques/styles, all that yodeling, dissonance, strange intervals. It's just very complicated in general, especially for a teenager. I'm trying to say don't get disappointed if you didn't quite get what the whole hype was about

About Diana, she's an orphan. her mother constantly beat her and threw her out on the street at the age of 3. After that, she was raised in an orphanage, and then a woman from the orphanage, a music teacher, adopted her and taught her to sing. In the video, this woman can be seen, she is wearing glasses.....About the song.. A folk song in the Old Russian language, some words in the song, even we Russians have forgotten. The song is about an orphan girl who lives with foster parents who do not love her and forcibly marry her to an unloved person. The girl goes to the river and communicates with her as with her own mother, asks her for advice, tells about her feelings.Asks for a blessing on the marriage

This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.
