TO “SHARE THE LOVE” OF CHRIST, THAT’S WHAT THIS ALBUM IS ABOUT! (Foreword by Chairperson, IJ Schools Board)
That’s what Blessed Nicolas Barré, the founder of our Infant Jesus (IJ) schools, wanted everyone to do. He wanted to reach out to the poor, the weak, the disadvantaged and the enslaved. He wanted us to have compassion for those less fortunate than us.
In celebration of Founder’s Day 2002, the IJ Board of Management is ‘sharing’ this gift of music, this labour of love, with the children, youth, staff, school leaders, volunteers, residents and the IJ Sisters in the eleven IJ Schools and the three IJ Homes & Centres in Singapore.
Fourteen of the songs in this album are original works written by my good friends, Trevor Nerva & Julie Sim (IJ alumnus). Their music is about love and compassion, faithfulness and hope, service and care, peace and unity - universal values that are an integral part of the IJ spirit. Many of the songs are sung by IJ pupils with dedicated teachers & principals working alongside Trevor & Julie, while others feature the voices of IJ alumni members. An IJ pupil also created the CD artwork. Special thanks to all the dedicated singers, musicians, & teachers who contributed their time and talent to make this album a true celebration of God’s love for us.
These songs are ideal for singing at various IJ gatherings and we expect each school to make these songs a part of their regular repertoire. In this way, the different IJ schools will have music that expresses their common identity and inspires them to uphold the spirit of Blessed Barré’s teachings.
Wishing one and all “Happy Founder’s Day” and may the blessings of our Lord be with you always!

HOLD ON TO OUR DREAM
Verse 1
IJ Spirit burning bright,
fill this world with love and light,
light that shines for all to see,
love that sets our spirits free.
Verse 2
IJ friendships through the years,
born of simple joys and tears,
something tells us deep inside,
IJ friends are friends for life.
Chorus
Hold on to our dream of peace, don’t stop believing,
our hearts and hands ever seeking, ever serving.
Hold on to the sound of our friends all joyously singing,
our voices raised to the Lord our God above,
hold on to our dream.
Verse 3
IJ Spirit burning bright,
fill our hearts with love and light,
light to see ourselves anew,
love begins with me and you.
Verse 4
IJ voices ringing true,
reaching out and breaking through,
every heart will hear our call,
share our dream of peace for all.
Chorus
Hold on to our dream of peace, don’t stop believing,
our hearts and hands ever seeking, ever serving.
Hold on to the sound of our friends all joyously singing,
our voices raised to the Lord our God above,
hold on to our dream.
Final Chorus
Hold on to our dream of peace, don’t stop believing,
our hearts and hands ever seeking, ever serving.
Hold on to the sound of our friends all joyously singing,
our voices raised to the Lord our God above,
hold on to our dream, hold on to our dream,
hold fast to the IJ Dream.
Hold on to our dream!

Love this song i am in CHIJ OLN and i am very very proud to be an IJ girl ❤
In 1999, the founder of the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus schools, Blessed Nicolas Barré, was beatified and the CHIJ schools in Singapore held a mass in celebration. Seeing the thousands of IJ girls at that event, we had the idea of writing a song that they could all sing together with one heart and voice, no matter which IJ school they came from, something that would express the essence of the IJ Spirit and be a unifying bond among all the IJ schools. Donne Aeria, then Chairperson of the IJ Schools Board, had the same wish and we worked together with the Board to make that wish a reality in the "Share The Love" CD published in 2002.
