  • I found out that my turntable was playing slightly fast. Here's how I changed the pitch speed.

Thanks for your help! I’ve had this exact problem with this turntable for over a year but wasn’t sure I could adjust it. The more I’ve researched, it seems it’s often an issue with this particular turntable, so glad it’s an somewhat easy fix

I have very sensitive hearing, my turntable is currently at 33.6 RPM and I'm noticing it's too fast

Thanks for the tip about the platter mat. I got the exact same measurement as you with it on, so I’m sure mine is spinning the same (too fast) with it off- I only just noticed today with a new record that I had been listening to on Spotify nonstop and when I started the very first song I was like 😳😳😳 so I’m definitely going to give this a try this weekend

It's a little fiddly but well worth it in the end! Let me know how it goes?

@@UTILITARIANTVUK It went well. As you said, a lot of microadjustments-- I'd go too far one way then have to correct and so forth but finally got it spinning at 33.45 which I'm totally fine with. I played the songs concurrently with spotify and it only goes slightly out of sync after about 2 and a half minutes so it's definitely listenable at this rate, and not as goofy sounding as before when it was clocking in at probably 34+ RPM without my phone's weight! Thanks again!

See this why all my old Technics Autos 1350 1650 and 1950 models have a way to easily read platter speed and fine tune it. They could do this cheap and easy back in the 70's and 80's but in the 2000's it is now impossible.

Hi. My Audio-Technica AT-LP3 don't keep the same speed after I adjusted correctly. I did what you showed in the video. I got the speed correctly but after some listening it keeps changing the speed.

When I try to turn the 33 tuner counter clockwise it actually speeds up and slows back down. I tested it with the record playing. Especially if I push the screwdriver in deep it speeds up. So turning it both directions speeds it up and slows down incrementally. But it never reaches the accurate speed.

I bought this turntable almost new for $50 on Facebook. I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise because of speed issues. It’s weird. Some records sound fast and some sound perfect. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Want to find another used Quartz lock Technics/MCS.

I tried it because it was a bit too fast (34rpm). Did not work for me. Now it's stuck at 28rpm. Feels like I'm not turning any screw down there. Sometimes when I push the screwdriver inside the rpm goes crazy (60rpm+) but impossible to set anything definitively

my advice.. don't trust phone apps :D I spend lot of time with setup to 33.3rpm, then I put vinyl on and it sounds strange :D when I compare track speed with digital one and I have to set it back to default which was 33.9rpm :D

I used a lid, like one which tops a stack of CD-Rs so I could balance the phone exactly over the middle. This takes it above the metal rod.
Turning those screws to adjust the speed was maddening, a royal pain in the ass, from Hell!
As the saying goes thirtieth time was the charm!!!!! I settled for about 33 1/2, slightly fast but better than 34.

I hate this so extremely much…..
Also when you move the 33 1/3 “screw” it also changes the 45 rpm speed and vice versa
My 33 1/3 is now finally resting correctly but my 45 rpm is not in the correct pitch, but okay I guess I have to live with it, I tried this for 2 weeks now…
I even broke a model by doing this, and had to buy a new turntable
