This is a great pull for the Blight Club! The engine is solid and playable, but the design is obnoxious and baffling at every turn. Can't wait to meet our buddy Superfly Johnson.
I only ever get two levels in before giving up, so Grubb's already accomplished more than I have in this game. I know it gets a bit better as it goes, but I just can't with Daikatana, man. Happy to watch Grubb suffer through it, though!
I find it an odd choice with a game called Big Sword and the main character being a sword teacher having the surname of Miyamoto that the weapon choices are laser gun and limp wristed punch.
So here’s the thing daikatana is at its absolute worst for the first few levels once you get to the next act the game turns into a real video game instead of the nightmare it is in the beginning but also the companions will crush Jeff’s spirit I can’t wait
This was way more entertaining than I expected it to be... I couldn't stop watching. Wow, that game is worse than I thought. I only played the demo and the MP demo.. damn. Great content though.
you guys should really go over the og rules for blight club again, it's the second time you give grubb a VERY long game for what you all agreed was a reasonable blight game duration, and it eventually really drags on
Someone should remake this game and make it good 😅 Also remake Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake the way they were initially intended. Wolfenstein 3D as a 3D version of Castle Wolfenstein, Doom as an open world game and Quake as an RPG
This game makes me so angry. The design decision to make every single enemy annoying just baffles me. Swap the enemies out for something slower, quieter and well...less annoying would have done wonders for the game.
Just installed and loaded up Daikatana off gog, and it looks way better than this footage. This video looks like the lighting is broken and everything is washed out.
56:12 is the moment
The delivery of that "advice" was impeccable 😂😂😂
Mike screaming “suck it down!” right after the first death absolutely destroyed me
Dan thinking DaikaGrubba is better than Grubbkatana is all we need to know about Dan
grubb going "i know thats a strange concept" to dan and mike after declaring his head of hair. good one
John Romero plays John Romero's... GrubbkaGrubba
This is SUPER exciting. Daikatana is just a legend and a magazine ad to me, can't wait to see what it actually is.
I can't believe they mailed Grubb his own hair back and made him wear it.
The constant buzzing of weird bugs, Mike screaming nonstop, this ugly ass green ass video game... I love all of it

41:20 YEAH, HONEY

Man, Giant Bomb rules so hard again these days. It's like the old days. And I really don't say this lightly.
Yeah, it feels like a bunch of friends fucking around.
1:08:35 lmfao the rage is so great 😭
this might be the best bit in the whole video. so unexpected lol
I kinda miss Grubb, but this John fella's pretty entertaining so far.
Grub is creating his own blight with this one by reloading that bad save.
looking forward to Mitch's new Nintendo podcast, "Mike Minotti's N-Word"
I remember hearing this while watching and almost threw up laughing. Do you have a time stamp?
@@popltree2whole sequence starts at around 1:55:00

New drinking game: Take a sip every time Dan says "shoot"
CHAD WARDEN'S POPPED COLLARS ARE REFERENCED IN PS5'S DESIGN
The N64 version probably is more immersive.
If Grubb doesn't pick up the pace, it's gonna take a while to finish this.
So much for giving him a short game
The image of the real John Romero above Grubb dressed like him looks like the epilogue of a really goofy biopic.
Grubbkatana is going to make you its Bisch.
I love how much of a sensory nightmare this game is. Just screaming and mosquito noises.
It makes it even better that Mike actually says, "Hey you a-stupid son of a..." like Mario.
Mike's new nickname should be honey from now on.
Love these guys. Great work!
It'll always be Daikagrubba in my heart.
Dan going so hard at Grubb after he was basically walked through Superman 64 is definitely a choice
Daiktatana is the game I see on sale all the time and think, "No. Not today."
It's wild that they went through the whole game with the gamma cranked up this bright. Everything looks horrible compared to normal.

whose idea was it to make your projectiles look like something is shooting AT you whenever you fire? madness
I just came her to say, this should've been Dankatana with Dan playing it... what are you gentlemen even doing anymore... :)
Dan's got his coming, don't worry
I thought Jeff came up with something that could have been an even better name right at the end there: "Giant Bomb's about to make you its Mitch."
I think the first level was the last one they made and was rushed as the final do-or-die deadline was closing in...
I'll give Daikatana one thing, at least it can be finished on modern PCs, unlike Anachronox . That's the highest compliment I can give to this game.
We need a Serious Sam mod that replaces the Beheaded kamikaze's scream with Mike's laugh. If I had money, I'd pay you to do it.

1:52:38 Doubutsu no Mori was for regular N64, a battery in the cartridge kept the time even when the system was off.
John Why Are You Bad At Your Own Game?
Daigrubbtana is better than both what are we doing here
They re-recorded the dialogue because they pronounced Kage as Cage? He's still not pronouncing Kage right!!!

what is Mike referencing with "I can sing!" at 1:22:18, it's on the tip of my tongue
It's the Planet of the Apes 'Dr Zaius' musical from the Simpsons
@@datboijerry thank you!!
Does this game have the same light flashing pattern that ended up in Half-Life?
Grubb Romero
Jeff Grubbero
Always Thank the Bugdriver
Do you like this game, Jeff?
Daigrubbana?
Is it pronouced "Jib" pile?
gee I dunno guys I think this game looks pretty sweet
Diakatana more like diarrhea

It's because they have the intensity cranked up all the way
@@datboijerry What is intensity?!
@@permanentsigh I'm not turning it down. I don't want John Romero to think he made me his bitch
@@JeffreyGrubb it's basically the brightness/gamma setting. You're playing it extremely washed out and not respecting Romero's artist vision!
@@datboijerry Good, that'll learn him!
It's pronounced "jiblets" 😊
Now I'm convinced Dan goes a million times harder on Mike.
