In my unasked opinion lol I think you look so much better in shorter hair, so clean cut looking & it makes you look younger too and rested! I'm glad you are recovering from that nasty virus and you continue to gain your strength back. Beautiful scenery - Thank you!
As someone who finds herself highly susceptible to “the virus” I feel for you. My husband is a teacher and I work from home, meaning he works in a germ factory and I have a reduced immune system because I have been at home for over 12 years. I’ve had it now five times and each time I severely lose my voice which affects my ability to do my job. All I can suggest is get as much sleep, fresh air, and liquids as possible. Feel better!!!!
Oh yes, it lingers. My suggestion is to keep track of symptoms that linger and what triggers them to be worse. For me it’s been voice issues. Visits to primary doc, the ear nose and throat specialist, and speech therapy have been a must for me. The hope is to prevent the need for surgery on the vocal nodes I now have.
Glad you are on the mend, ‘the virus’ is no joke. Norway and Sweden are beautiful in the winter, but it’s very nice to see all the green and another side to your lovely part of the world.
Norway is a beautiful country terrible that man dumped his rubbish makes me so cross when people do that . Love all your videos and do hope your ear is now better .
Wow, this adventure is absolutely intense! Surviving painful viruses, heavy rain, and storms while riding to the Arctic in a cozy van - it’s like a real-life thriller. 🌧️❄️ The resilience and determination of the Norwegian Xplorer are truly inspiring. Can’t wait to see more of their van life escapades! 🚐🌟
Dear Jarl, I wish you a further recovering, until you are healthy for continuing your adventures ! I remark you didn't loose your appetite ! It was good to see again green trees, green mountains, after all that snow ! And this under a beautiful white-clouded blue sky !The road to Jotunheimen is awesome, what a beautiful region ! Congratulations to your sister for the artistic window-cover, really gorgeous ! Did she create herself those beautiful volute-and flowerdesign ? Magnificent ! - Thanks for the road-trip, and take care of yourself, my friend. 💚
So happy to see you pottering around in your camper again! You still see a little pips every now and then. You really have to take that nasty virus seriously, it can make you very ill. Thanks for your video, it showed an area where we haven't been yet in Norway, very beautiful. Combined with your wonderful music it gives me a happy feeling. We also criticized the behavior of some 'campers'. They are simply committing an environmental crime. We also saw many Germans and Dutch people on the road. Some with huge campers of 10+ meters. You can't call that camping anymore. Fortunately, there is now 1 less Dutch couple on the road, because we returned home last night. We couldn't find peace on the Lofoten, but luckily we did in Northern Norway and Sweden. Your gift will have to wait a little longer, it is still in our camper! We wish you lots of fun and health with your Artic Summer Tour and maybe we can meet up next year, we would really like that!
Yeah, Lofoten has become a shitshow, sadly we Norwegian do not know when enough is enough, we get blinded by foreign attention, they are still marketing the hell out of Lofoten, and adding China as a target, what could possibly go wrong. I hope to see you next summer indeed!
Please take care of yourself. You will feel tired for a while but each day gets a little better. Praying for you. We love you sharing the road trip with us.
Please take care of yourself. You will feel tired for a while but each day gets a little better. Praying for you. We love you sharing the road trip with us. Ps. We love the pillows!!
Also I forgot to mention that I like the way you keep it real! You are a good and sensible cook. Remember that you need to take care of yourself because if you're not here we won't be able to watch your awesome videos and that would be very disappointing!! So be safe and God's speed!!! From Tricee in America from Virginia Beach, VA ⛱️⛱️⛱️
Hope you are the mend soon for a full recovery. All of us here in the states send you our well wishes. Your channel is marvelous, you put so much time and effort into your productions. Danke sehr.
Hi I'm kind of new here I've been watching your videos tho in that snow storm and the hurricane I find your videos very interesting I'm from Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦 so I hope you take care and be safe wherever you go I'm also glad your all better
Beautiful again Jarl, thank you. My wife has to have a series of electronic zappers around the house in order to combat midges because she reacts very badly to them. In her case it can lead to sepsis. So I feel for you trying to keep them out of the van. The aerial midnight sun shots were simply amazing. Ian, Birmingham, UK
Thanks Ian, I have tried some small zappers here, they are not very effective in my case, maybe it is because of the van, but the mr mosquito and thermacells are wonderful though
Thank you for sharing your summer tour, it makes a bleak cold winters day feel warm and sunny. So glad you are on the mend now! Cannot wait for your next instalment :)
Your sister is very talented. Beautiful window cover. Sorry you were sick. Glad you are feeling better. 3 years ago almost everyone in my town was sick with IT. looking forward to more wonderful scenery from my ancestral country. Great videos.
Hi!! I am glad you feel better. I want to tell you that when i see your wonderful videos i feel like i am flaying in the sky. Take care and keep enjoying those beautiful Places.
Lovely to see you back on the road sharing those amazing views. Hopefully being back outside and in nature will help you get your energy back. Take care out there.
Oh I really loved this video! Such lovely pastoral villages and farmland and the mountain majesty too. Some new music? Anyway I’m so very glad you’re almost better and pray your hearing returns completely. Not sure when you’re traveling to the states but get clearance from your doctor before you get into the pressurized cabin of a plane. All the best, Jarl. Thank you for sharing van life with us.🚐❤️
Thank you for the beautiful and real videos. The only thing that really bothers us is the dystopian background music. But that's what the volume control is for. 😊 Best regards Simon
I love your videos, they are absolute perfection, the music is hauntingly ethereal. Words fail me to adequately describe what i wish to convey. But, again, your videos are masterpieces every one. Best wishes to you and may all you touch be blessed and prosper. 💐
So glad your'e feeling better. I was hoping you had maybe stayed close to family while feeling so miserable. Glad your back at it. Love the scenary in this video!
On Glow Plugs issue (just in case it helps.. sorry, long comment): If the glow plug error light is showing in your van but the shop confirmed that the glow plugs themselves are functioning correctly, there are several other components or issues that could be causing this light to illuminate or flash: 1. **Glow Plug Relay or Timer Issue:** - The relay or timer which controls the glow plugs might be faulty. This component is responsible for turning the glow plug system on and off at the appropriate times. If it malfunctions, it might not properly manage the glow plug operation, leading to the warning light activation. 2. **Wiring Problems:** - Electrical wiring connected to the glow plugs could have issues like corrosion, loose connections, or breaks. Faulty wiring can lead to incorrect signals being sent to the engine control unit (ECU), which might interpret this as a glow plug problem. 3. **Glow Plug Control Module:** - Some vehicles have a glow plug control module that manages the glow plug system. If this module is malfunctioning, it could cause the light to come on even when the glow plugs are operational. 4. **ECU or Sensor Malfunction:** - The ECU might be receiving or interpreting data incorrectly due to a sensor malfunction or software glitch within the system. This could result from: - A faulty crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor, which might send incorrect timing information. - An issue with the intake air temperature sensor, which influences when the glow plugs are activated. 5. **Temperature Sensor Fault:** - If the temperature sensor, particularly the coolant temperature sensor, is not functioning correctly, the ECU might continue to think the engine is cold, thus keeping the glow plug light illuminated longer than necessary. 6. **Software Issue or ECM (Engine Control Module) Update Needed:** - Sometimes, software issues or an outdated ECM firmware might incorrectly trigger the glow plug light. An update or diagnostic reprogramming might be necessary. 7. **Other Engine Management Faults:** - Problems with fuel injection timing, air intake, or other engine components affecting the combustion process could indirectly cause the glow plug light to come on. This might be more evident if there are symptoms like black smoke from the exhaust or poor starting. 8. **Ground Connection Issues:** - Poor ground connections can lead to various electrical system errors, including those affecting the glow plug circuit. 9. **False Positives or Intermittent Issues:** - Sometimes, the light might come on due to intermittent faults or false positives where the system momentarily detects a problem that isn't consistently present. Given these possibilities, here's what you might consider doing next: - **Re-diagnosis:** Have the shop check for any of the above issues. They should use a diagnostic tool to scan for trouble codes that might give more insight into what's triggering the light. - **Visual Inspection:** A thorough visual check of the wiring harness, connections, and related components for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. - **Function Test:** Test the functionality of the relay, timer, or control module if your van uses these. - **Sensor Checks:** Ensure all relevant sensors are working correctly and consider recalibrating or replacing them if needed. - **Software Check:** Ask if there are any software updates available for the vehicle's ECM or if there's a known issue with your model's glow plug system that might be resolved through a software patch. If the problem persists after checking these areas, it might be beneficial to seek a second opinion from another mechanic or dealership, especially if your van is under warranty or if there are recalls or technical service bulletins related to this issue.
Thanks for this insightful post, highly appreciated! We changed the glow plugs last week and now everything seems to be working as it should again, I have not been getting any errors for the past week.

Keep on truckin’ Norwegian Explorer. You appear to be healing well. Very much enjoy your postings. Warm greetings (literally) from the US Southwest. Monsoon season here, very tropical.
Prayers to your health getting stronger! I enjoy your narratives as much as the scenery!!! Sorry not a mechanic, so I have nothing to offer as a point of failure.
Thanks for a guided tour along the south eastern part of my home country. A small correction - you passed through Uvdal, not Ulvdal. The name has nothing to do with wolves. Until 1937, the place was named Opdal until the community council (kommunestyre) changed the name to Uvdal - probably not to be confused with Oppdal south of Trondheim. The name "Opdal" is very old and means the upper valley. I wish you a nice trip up north and look forward to future videos.
I always like your video adventures! You need to take care of your health because that's most important!! Please keep on making those amazing and sometimes risky videos!! Stay safe and safe travels with God's blessings!!!😊
Just started watching I hope the sickness was not too bad! No one likes to be sick! I got corona right at the beginning. Yes it sucked! Mine took 4 weeks. I got one symptom then the next week got another symptom and so on. It could have been worse, I could be pushing up daisies! Look forward to the Brain fog…… I hope you do not get it! I guess one more thing. On the ear infection, try using hydrogen peroxide once and awhile. Should help keep it in check.
Stunning photography! Is that snow on some of those hills? Those roads are so isolated. What happens if you were to, god forbid, break down. Who rescues you? Safe travels and stay well.
I’ve had that virus for a week can’t stop coughing .. sad your glow plug situ returned , I’ve fitted a Webasto pre heater to mine ready for next winter up there hopefully it will save a bit of stress on the engine and glow plugs etc , we will see , and I picked up a big bag of rubbish someone left , there’s just no need to leave rubbish about , gives people in vans a bad name and they should know it , thanks for sharing anyway 👍🏻
I assume. Just look at DEETJENS on Google. DEETJENS will show you the inside of each room and outside. It was so beautiful . I was there in 1985 with my mom, and in 1986, after she passed, DEETJENS heaven. There is a book about Deetjens. I even bought a Big Sur cook book built from people who lived there. Just look at it on Google.

On Glow Plugs issue (just in case it helps.. sorry, long comment):
If the glow plug error light is showing in your van but the shop confirmed that the glow plugs themselves are functioning correctly, there are several other components or issues that could be causing this light to illuminate or flash:
1. **Glow Plug Relay or Timer Issue:**
- The relay or timer which controls the glow plugs might be faulty. This component is responsible for turning the glow plug system on and off at the appropriate times. If it malfunctions, it might not properly manage the glow plug operation, leading to the warning light activation.
2. **Wiring Problems:**
- Electrical wiring connected to the glow plugs could have issues like corrosion, loose connections, or breaks. Faulty wiring can lead to incorrect signals being sent to the engine control unit (ECU), which might interpret this as a glow plug problem.
3. **Glow Plug Control Module:**
- Some vehicles have a glow plug control module that manages the glow plug system. If this module is malfunctioning, it could cause the light to come on even when the glow plugs are operational.
4. **ECU or Sensor Malfunction:**
- The ECU might be receiving or interpreting data incorrectly due to a sensor malfunction or software glitch within the system. This could result from:
- A faulty crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor, which might send incorrect timing information.
- An issue with the intake air temperature sensor, which influences when the glow plugs are activated.
5. **Temperature Sensor Fault:**
- If the temperature sensor, particularly the coolant temperature sensor, is not functioning correctly, the ECU might continue to think the engine is cold, thus keeping the glow plug light illuminated longer than necessary.
6. **Software Issue or ECM (Engine Control Module) Update Needed:**
- Sometimes, software issues or an outdated ECM firmware might incorrectly trigger the glow plug light. An update or diagnostic reprogramming might be necessary.
7. **Other Engine Management Faults:**
- Problems with fuel injection timing, air intake, or other engine components affecting the combustion process could indirectly cause the glow plug light to come on. This might be more evident if there are symptoms like black smoke from the exhaust or poor starting.
8. **Ground Connection Issues:**
- Poor ground connections can lead to various electrical system errors, including those affecting the glow plug circuit.
9. **False Positives or Intermittent Issues:**
- Sometimes, the light might come on due to intermittent faults or false positives where the system momentarily detects a problem that isn't consistently present.
Given these possibilities, here's what you might consider doing next:
- **Re-diagnosis:** Have the shop check for any of the above issues.
I'm glad your feeling better, that virus is nasty,I had it back in 2021 and I just now got my smells back.

Those glow plug issues sound like a nightmare, especially after getting them "fixed" twice! Hope it holds up for your trip.
Especially in wintertime
Ah, only now I hear the problem is back 😢
It works fine in warm weather despite the warning light coming on, I am more worried about starting the van in winter if it persists
Yes, winter could be a problem.

Thanks!
Beautiful in August we are going to the Lofoten
Thanks!
The sky is turcoise like a painting.
Stunning photography! Is that snow on some of those hills? Those roads are so isolated. What happens if you were to, god forbid, break down. Who rescues you? Safe travels and stay well.
We have good cell service most places here, and yes that is snow

I’ve had that virus for a week can’t stop coughing .. sad your glow plug situ returned , I’ve fitted a Webasto pre heater to mine ready for next winter up there hopefully it will save a bit of stress on the engine and glow plugs etc , we will see , and I picked up a big bag of rubbish someone left , there’s just no need to leave rubbish about , gives people in vans a bad name and they should know it , thanks for sharing anyway 👍🏻
Webasto sounds very nice indeed!
Lovely, your video, Helmut Deetjen built Deetjens Inn in Big Sur, California. My favorite place in the world. Cindy 👋
Nice, love Big Sur! Is it crowded there now?
