    My sister bought one straight out of high school. The lady that owned it before her had it for 7 years and took extremely good care of it. Red with black interior, turbine wheels, power windows, no t-tops.

    This is my Z28 on Pendine Sands, South Wales. UK.The paint needs doing and you inspire me, but the engine is a tuned up 7.5L (454), with 450bhp and 620lbs torque great fun car had her for 9 years now. These American cars are rare out here and she turns heads (and ears!), everywhere she goes. Thanks for the video, 👍

      That is nice!! I bet you get a lot of looks in the UK with that for sure. That is cool having a big block in it vs the factory small block. I know when I travel to other countries I am always looking for cars that are not normally found. They always look so strange and out of place. : )

    The song by Kevin Rudolf during the painting made it pretty epic. These are my favorite of the Camaro generations. I have one I'm restoring with my old man. It used to be his. You did this car really well

    Very nice! I did the same exact thing to my 79 Z28. Hope you have had better luck than I did! 3 days after I finished and 2 days before I was going to get the car appraised someone hit me in a hit and run at night and tore the whole front end off of my car. All I know it was a pickup that hit me and after when I looked to my right the head lights of my car were facing the passenger door staring back at me.
    I was lucky the way the car was built and the way the truck hit, right at the radiator support, it tore out all of the new frame mount bolts. The roof was all twisted from having T-tops! It didn’t seem that hard of a hit and I didn’t even get hurt. It was almost like air hitting air from what I remember. I got out of the car, because the truck had stopped about 200 feet away and I started walking towards he/she and then he/she took off. Well I had 3 great days!
    👍🏻👍🏻

    The only thing I don't like is the skull door lock covers. (at least i think that's what I saw) Ironically enough some of those came on my 79 K10 when I bought it 2 years ago. I just like the stock style.. But man.. otherwise, absolutely brilliant restoration. I just picked up an 81 Z28. Unfortunately not a 4-spd car but I'm going to be attempting as close to an OEM restoration as I can. I'm no mechanic but I am going to try. Where abouts in Texas are you? Would love to chat sometime. Between myself and two other friends we have a total of five second gen camaros. A mix of project and parts cars.

    • @tumbles94
      @tumbles94  Рік тому

      That is a good question. I did not repaint mine but I did some a long time ago. I taped off all the aluminum part and then used a razor blade and cut out the areas to paint and then re-painted that color. Then removed the tape from the turbines and used aluminum polish to clean each one with a small buffer. This takes a long time BTW but does look good when done. Someone may have a better idea for this so look around. I am sure there is a faster method.

    About how much did this cost thinking about getting an old muscle car and restoring it to take my gf to prom in for senior year I found one of these sitting for 3500 just wondering about how much it would take to get it looking car show ready

    • @tumbles94
      @tumbles94  2 роки тому

      That can really be all over the place on cost. If some of the car is in good shape and needs things just cleaned up but you can re-use it then that helps. If you need to replace everything then that will add up. These are prices for you doing the work and just buying parts and supplies. Inside all new - 2500-3000? maybe find a thing or two used online for sale the rest new. I am assuming the dash is good and maybe a center console. Engine - spend what you want here but say just 1800-2500 here on things - water pump, radiator, fix leaks and maybe new carb? Now paint will get you - if you do all the work and have a decent place to paint it and compressor and things AND you do all the body work - still like 3000 maybe you replace a door or fender. You pay someone to paint it and do body work - 8000- unlimited to get a good job. I am most likely low on my prices for things. If you have to pay someone to do all the work and the parts then a good bit to everything. Look at the car make a note of things it will need then go look online and see how much they are and then add labor costs and you can get pretty close. Hope this helps! I am just making a guess on this stuff.

    I have a 1978 Camaro Z28 I/m currently restoring. Any idea rough dollar figure you spent restoring this car? Thanks.

    • @tumbles94
      @tumbles94  7 років тому

      Depends on if you do the body work yourself or not? That will add to the cost a good bit. I used high dollar PPG products but you could save a lot using a middle of the road brand and get good results. The interior to change it all 2k - 3k all in - again doing the labor yourself. Just do parts at a time and it does not hit you so hard. You shop around and you can find people with older parts that are in good shape so that saves a lot. If you do a lot of the things say 5k - 8k for everything?? I may be on the high side. Not sure I helped here..lol

    • @charlesbrewer76
      @charlesbrewer76 7 років тому

      Thanks for the reply, it helped a bit. I'm currently pulling the interior apart. I'm trying to get the ignition switch out, it was previously drilled and a obviously a key won't fit. Interior is nearly complete and in good shape though I'm pulling it out to rewire the car. It's already got a 454/4-Speed swap in it, so I'm gonna be doing a good deal of engine work and a transmission upgrade when the Muncie bites the dust. With the rewire I'm also planning on doing a discreet sound system and LED lighting. Did you build the car to more or less factory spec or did you modify anything?

    • @tumbles94
      @tumbles94  7 років тому

      I went back as close to factory as i could. Yeah I bet there is a youtube vid on how to take the column apart - although may be harder to find one for a standard transmission vs an auto to view.

    • @charlesbrewer76
      @charlesbrewer76 7 років тому

      I appreciate the responses, the cylinder hasn"t come out any way that any of the videos I've seen recommend. I moved on to other parts of the project, will go back to it when I'm more calm about it. All in all you have a beautiful car, with any luck mine will turn out close to that good.

    • @tumbles94
      @tumbles94  6 років тому

      Hmm...pull the wheel then the lock plate that has a snap ring holding it on at the shaft. Then take the turn signal switch out but be sure to loosen the column bolts and the plugs at the base of the column so you have slack to pull the switch out of the way. You may have to grab the lower bowl or bottom of the column and twist it after you take the screw holding the lock cyl in?? It has been 15 years since I did a column so going from memory. Oh yeah you may need to take out the bolt on the steering shaft under the hood so it can slide out but line up the steering wheel and remember how you do it so it goes back the just like it came out. Maybe this will help you...
