He uprooted his life to come live in a new country. It must be so difficult for him to maintain the individuality you speak of while trying to adjust to a completely new environment.
His response: you’re not wrong, it definitely is difficult because my individuality was based off of where I lived and the circumstances I had been presented with, now being here it is a bit more difficult to maintain the types of things I liked like basketball, things that made me “me” as an individual but my wife gives me the space to try and maintain and even find my own individuality without restricting me. For example when I go out with my new friends or go and play basketball she encourages me to enjoy myself to the fullest and she often reminds me to indulge in my hobbies. So being married doesn’t make it difficult for me but the new surroundings definitely feel challenging. I’d say as much as I’m in a new environment, I am not presented with entirely different things that I never knew I liked/ wanted. I’m rediscovering what it really means to keep up with who you are as a person. It’s true that as you get older you get more busy so it’s more difficult to do the things you like to do so you get drawn into a monotonous cycle, I’ve rediscovered what it really means to keep up with the things I enjoy doing because it requires commitment to not allow my own hobbies to fade into the background

I super related to being an introvert, in the sense that I don’t like awkward silences so I force myself to fill it with a comment/question. When I’m drained and just want to be quiet 🤣🥲 but not everyone is on that wavelength some want to chat. I’m glad you are being proactive tho, and trying to get outside more! It pays off in the long run. 💕
