  • Brace yourself for an action-packed wrenchfest episode! In this episode of project Rottweil, a 2002 BMW E39 530i Touring, we focus on the suspension and brakes. We upgrade the suspension to M Sport, replace all control arms, struts & shocks, wheel bearings, rear ball joint, integral link, air springs, upgrade and refurbish Brembo 4-pot calipers, naturally lots of satisfying before & after shots, and we finish off with beautiful 17" BBS Style 42 wheels.

It is everytime incredible for me, that only one man does all the work and the editing at the same, while in germany every car-channel has a dozent of heads in mediateams and deliver not nearly such a good work. keep it up Sreten.

Not all of them have Sreten.
I was thinking at the same topics. The amount of work he puts in is just incredible because he was, and I believe still is, buying the projects himself, he is wrenching, filming, editing, researching and ordering parts…I think his channel will be Matt Armstrong / Tavarish audience in less than one year.

@@kjyu This is sad to say, but these are HIS cars. Would it be safe to assume a mechanic would put THIS much care and time into a car that wasn't his? This might be one of my fav episodes of the channel. As a suspension obsessive, the detail is amazing. Anyone else love the inverted rear shocks and geometry of the E39 Touring?! When the E39 came out, I remember a car mag saying something about wishing the fenders were transparent to see the aluminum magic in action. As always, our leader, Mr. Streten, does the good work and meticulous refurbishment needed. Makes me want to step out in the rainy SF night and figure out my screaming wheel bearings and why the left control arm vibrates at 80mph on 280!

Great videos . Watch every one religiously . Good to see huge jackman make a return . This car really needs a nice set of bumpers . The msport rear bumper possibly paired with a Alpina front bumper . Would look great

14:52 have, twice. Both times on cars that had been through deep freezes.
15:20 induction coil. For stuff like that, that gets replaced (i'm still reticent on using it for stuff that's going to be left on the car on account of how heat affects the metals), worth the cost, makes removal so much more easier. I personally recommend heating it up, spraying it, then leaving it a bit to cool down again.

My new favorite channel! I threw some style 42s on my e34 535i/5 which bolted right up more or less. Recently let it go in a trade for parts and labor on the f82. No more old bimmers for me and I really mean it this time.

of course you know that the Style 42s need hub-centric rings for proper fitment onto the e34?

Not sure if you did this on purpose, but I love the mechanical torque wrench sound wayyy more than the digital one. It sounds so much better and more satisfying, arguably the best part of your videos.

Amazing job on the brakes, it would make for a separate video of another UA-camr and you are having it as a part of a bigger show!

    Caliper painting tip:
Use a hot melt glue gun to carefully cover any odd area or shape you don't want painted. Cut thin cardboard to cover the bore and glue in place. The glue peels off easy when the paint is dry 👍

    Great work as always.
Here's a top tip to stop brake lines dripping when changing some parts out.
If the brake pedal is depressed slightly, and held down, the fluid will not leak out, and the loss will be minimal, due to the valves in the master cylinder closing.
I use this all of the time, and it does save on the system getting fully drained.
