    Cuando escucho a Bach veo a alguien con cultura, un hombre que combate contra la ignorancia.
    Cuando escucho a Mozart veo a alguien con talento nato, un genio indiscutible.
    Cuando escucho a Beethoven veo a alguien temeroso, quien lucha contra el destino.
    Pero cuando escucho a Chopin... veo a un hombre atormentado, alguien que sufre, y que a través de sus obras trata de consolarse a sí mismo. Como si con estas melodías tratase de decirse que sí, que la vida no es justa, pero rendirse no cambiará nada, esta seguirá su rumbo y más vale continuar. Cuando escucho a Chopin me veo a mí.

      Kassia’s performance is indeed very nice. But what is a Chopin piece, if not a tragedy, unfolding on the keys. Theatrics are necessary to pull off a good performance. I love Lang Lang’s performances, because of the theatrics and showmanship.

    • @Henri.d.Olivoir
      @Henri.d.Olivoir Рік тому

      @@butter5014indeed, theatrics are important, but showmanship are extremely harmful to Chopin's music. Nothing, and I repreat, absolutely nothing in Chopin's music should be interpreted as to present showmanship. Chopin himself hated it, calling it "catching pigeons on the air" and generally mocking this behaviour, seeing it as a weak priority musicians of his time had over the emotional importance of the piece. Being Chopin as he was, it is possible to detect profound emotion in every piece of his, and as instructed by himself, not one of them, not even the études, should be intrepeted as pieces of showmanship, something he saw as harming to the piece's real intention. That is why I do not enjoy Lang Lang's interpretations of Chopin. His exaggerated faces and his extremely unpolished and unclear sonorities, always trying to impress by the usage of extreme speed and unsensibility, may even go well with Liszt's bravura-styles pieces of utter showmanship, but with the intimate and emotional pieces of Chopin, they only serve them harm.

    *Composer:* Frédéric Chopin
    *Composition:* Prelude Op. 28 No. 15
    Chopin was a great composer and pianist. In the winter of 1838-1839, Chopin went to Mallorca with his lover, George Sand, and her two children. The group stayed in rooms in an Old Carthusian monastery at Valldemossa. Chopin wrote his 24 Preludes during this time period. There are many legends and stories behind this prelude that sounds beautifully sorrowful and tragic. Here are four legends:
    • The monastery’s rooms allowed wind and rain inside, causing Chopin’s health to further deteriorate and, as the mythology goes, Chopin spent a lot of his time listening to the repetitive drip-drip-drip of the rain outside. This dripping inspired the repetitive note throughout the “Raindrop” Prelude.
    • Chopin composed the prelude as he waited for George Sand and her children to return from a shopping trip, while listening to the slow, steady rain falling on his windows.
    • Chopin was suffering from hallucinations when he wrote the prelude. One night, when he was alone in his room during a thunderstorm, he was playing piano and it sounded as if his playing echoed the sound of the thunderstorm.
    • The story of the “Raindrop” Prelude was created by George Sand in her novel ‘Histoire de ma Vie,’ in which she describes Chopin improvising the prelude during a storm.

      @@Kassiapiano Thank you that's very sweet :)
      I'd love to hear Chopin's nocturne op 9 no. 2 or Debussy's Arabesque no. 1 if you get a chance!

    Beautifully played with very delicate touch. There were a few places where you played a repeated note where I am used to hearing a tie.

    Sublime la música de Chopin ! Este preludio es bellísimo, nostálgico, Chopin extrañaba su amada tierra Polonia, y la añoraba, la compuso cuando estaba muy enfermo en una tarde lluviosa.❤
