- I currently am raising three young, promising pet carpenter ant colonies (Camponotus spp.) each in separate ant farms, but what I have planned for them is what's truly exciting. In this episode, I introduce you to our three cute carpenter ant colonies, as well as, introduce to you my plans for them and other ant colonies in my Ant Room - a project of enormous proportions that will be pretty exciting from a scientific standpoint. Hope you enjoy this week's carpenter ant episode. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

So what do you think about the end reveal project? Do you think it will work?
Cant wait. I absolutely love terrarium builds
ngl, that project sounds kind of like a bad idea asking for disaster. Ant colonies will definitely fight between each other in enclosed space.
It could work if you have enough room, and enough biodiversity in the ecosystem. Nordic Ants has achieved success with one that hosts several different species of ant colonies, along with many other creatures. Some are terrestrial, some water dwellers, and some amphibious. While he does place food in, it also has its own food chain, where the various denizens can hunt their own food, and the colonies of arthropods can break down leaves and dead wood etc. just be careful every time you introduce a new species, and make sure there are some protective obstacles to help them get a good start.🖤🇨🇦
Can we finally name a colony The Spartans
i quess that they will have enouth room to not fight to death, otherwise we will have the hunger games

Missed you last week but am glad that you are taking a much deserved vacation break. 👍💯🐜♥️✌🇨🇦♥️♥️
Carpenter Ants always the best and most easiest and beginner ant species to keep and care for. Can't wait for your massive setup. It'll be like Disneyland lol.
That’s good to hear because I want to get into ant keeping and carpenter ants are supposedly supper common in my state
Camponotus. My favorite ant species.
Dear ants canada I am new to the ant keeping hobby. And I have western Harvester ants Please comment on this comment and maybe keep Western harvest ants.
I don’t think that western harvester ants are native to where he lives but I’m not 100% sure so if they aren’t native to where he lives and he starts keeping them and they escape then he would be introducing a new invasive species in the ecosystem which is probably why he hasn’t kept them yet but if they are native then I to would like too see him raise c colony of western harvester ants, and by the way, I am also new to ant keeping I am keeping red imported fire ants.
How is your colony going now??
@@user-sx2zv3mw6mand how is your colony going
OMG!!! Ok, now I am really, really, really excited! I have always dreamt of seeing an Ecosystem set up! With the plants, the various ant colonies and their different nesting traditions. Some in the ground, some on a tree ( or a facsimile of one), plus all the other insect residents like detritivores, predators, the ritualistic relationship between ants and aphids/sap sucking insects and so on!
If anybody can do it, and succeed, then it is you Mikey!! Go for it!!🤩🤩👍👍👏👏👏👏🐜💖
Names suggestions:
Yellow carpenters: Sunrise warriors
Black carpenters: Midnight warriors
At 3:04 you can see some mites on the ants of the yellow carpenter ant colony. Hoping it is the good ones since the colony seems so active! I'm nervous about the idea, but hopefully through doing it we can learn more about the ants?
The yellow/orange carpenter ant colony I would recommend calling them, The Golden Honey Army.
Honeydew Hoarders
@@Jed-vn9mothere is literally a species that is called honeypot ants
I would like to suggest the name "Queen Amber" for your yellow carpenter ant queen!
I want this guy to hit 5M as soon as possible… I’ve been watching him since I was so young my voice sounded like I had helium! About 5-7 years. He better hit 5M
You know it is gonna be a good day when ants Canada drops a video
Thanks for watching! #antloveforever
@@AntsCanada thanks for replying I am a very big fan I just got solenopsis geminata I have been watching for 7 years ever since I started
Wow
@@AntsCanada I need help how to remove mites on my ants there so many of them, I'm from Pampanga Philippines
The colonies are amazing. The plan sounds so interesting. It's going to take a long time to make that.
I'm actually been waiting for AntsCanada to do this. Ever since I saw a natureTuber do a super massive Terra Tank, I've been wishing to see it here. Dreams do come true in the most silliest way.
I love Carpenter Ants and always planned on having them since they are my dream species to raise. I hope these little guys you have will turn out fine!
I recommend calling the yellow ants the amber armada since there more of a mix of redish/orange rather than bright yellow
i would like to suggest “The Woodworkers” or if they join together maybe, “The Woodworkers Union.” also so excited to see this one come together!
Welcome back! Nice to hear from you. Definitely missed AntsCanada videos!❤
You know it's a good day when Antscanada uploads a video!!❤❤
I enjoy your positivity.
so every Saturday
in other words... i agree
guys we are going to hit 5Million. This Family just keeps on groing and groing. I joined this channel a few years back and saw many of his older videos and This man has come very far from where he was at that time
Thanks for watching! #antloveforever
Man every milestone this guy hit he gonna do some crazy stuff.Last time it was buying a whole nation now he gonna make a giant ant farm.By 10m sub he gonna make the whole world his ant terrarium
Yellow bunch- the caramels, black bunch - the chocolates, 3rd black bunch- the licorice gang
Excited for the new tank! Nice to hopefully have a more developed multi ant species habitat! Nordicant upload only once a year so Ant Canada is way better!
😂
Yellow carpenter ant name could be The Golden Arches!!
Good luck brother, hope it turns out better than the last carpenter ant experiment 🤞 Can't wait to see your plan in detail.
Thanks 👍
*Starting my first vacation in 2 years with 'Ants Canada'!* 😊
Wow!
5 million!
It feels like you had 1.5 just yesterday, crazy!
OMG FINALLY! I didn't really think you would do such a thing, but im in for it, its gonna be soo epic, as long as its big enough that the difference ant colony foraging grounds dont have slim chances of meeting
the moment you began talking about mixing ants, my brain went "He's gonna make a huge setup in his new place after seeing the Ant Exhibits from his last video." What's funny is I did the same in a story I wrote a few months back only the MC of that story was a symbiotic plant species, she's trying to become her worlds version of Eywa from Avatar, by connecting the world to one another, and she starts off by connecting with species of Ants, and another character, creates a gigantic terrarium to study the MC and other things that she's come into contact with, including the ants, and I'm talking about Shark Tank sized, so plenty of room xD... I should go back and continue working on that one xD
Recently a lot of vendors here are selling lansones for the past weeks. Then I noticed when my dad bought 2 kilos of lansones, there was a queen ant. So me and my dad immediately put them in a container with the lansones and some stones, a mini jar, and soil. I wanted to release them in the wild but they were only a small colony and there are a lot of red ants here on my area so I thought they couldn't fight for themselves. Me and my dad watched a lot of your videos back then and after this I kinda wanted to email you and ask for advice too hehe but I notice the colony is getting a bit bigger and decided I'll eventually let them go when they're a lot or at least before the mating season starts again. Sooo seeing this video made me think -woah this is a coincidence. I'm now coincidentally getting advice haha
assuming the red ants are fire ants and aren't native to your area, there are available and nonpoisonous methods to curtailing the red ant population
boiling water (mind you limbs with this one) down a major entryway into the nest will do a quick job though may take several trips (water heavy)
diatomaceous earth applied around and on the nest entrance (will deactivate when wet) or mixed with something like cornmeal for the ants to take back to their larva (collapse a colony by breaking down the ant replacement rate)
and for a slightly poisonous to the environment but also very quick results, a big bucket of soapy water (works wonders on their wasp cousins)
@@prcervi thank you for the tip!! Will try them out, especially the boiling water one. My dad tried it back then but with only hot water from the dispenser, though they were suddenly gone for a day or two, the red ants came back.
How about the Amber Army? For the yellow carpenter ants. Since they are all the shades of Amber.
what a great thing to wake up to on the weekend
Some very cool plans you've got there! I am thinking maybe you could name the yellow carpenter ant colony something special, like the Golden Lions or Lion Blazers. If you don't chose one of these suggestions, please choose one that has to do with honor or pride because this ant colony looks like it has many a brood to be proud of!
:D #AntLoveForever
Great suggestions!
Naming suggestion for the yellow colony: The Golden Girls
Where ants live: test tubes ( small colony’s found by ant keepers), rotting wood, ground, dry ground, leaf baskets and ant terrarium.if I missed any, please say.

I remember that bloodbath
I just got my first carpenter ant, one of the largest if not the largest carpenter ants in the USA, a CA02!
I first started to watch your channel to get some insight on how to alternatively deal with explosions of sugar ants I get in my house yearly. Now rather than trying to contain and eliminate I want to attempt to cokes the colony into a setup and keep just not free in my home. Possibly even attempt catching queens of some of the other less intrusive prettier species nearby. Lastly Congratulations on nearing 5Million!🥳
Thank you for inspiring me to become an ant enthusiast. I have followed your channel since covid. Love your videos! Keep it up!
Awesome! Thank you!
If m a bit early or late on the vote sorry but I think a good name for these guys would be “The Lumberjacks” because well um their CARPENTER ants
I can't wait to see the ant battle. Bet bullet or fire ants wins in that competition if you let them in one by one to keep the sides equal. That would be a true scientific endeavor. Speaking of which, didn't you see the tiny amoeba thing on the ant poop? You probably discovered a new life form and could have been famous like finding the species in your backyard but no, it was wiped away. Treated no better than an empty floating plastic bag.
Do you mean one by one as in fight to the death because really that’s only good for the strength of a single ant not the colony. I think the amoeba is still there because I saw multiple different amoebas. I’m guessing he didn’t study them because they could potentially be dangerous, ant colonies dying to things like mites and parasites and pathogens seem quite common so don’t take the risk
@@coolwarfare I was thinking more of surrounding an outer world, a large one where small colonies of ants in 10g tanks would be able to come and go at will. Start each side off with queen, 1000 workers (so you don't have to count so much beyond that, just kind of look and guess best you can) and then open the portals all at once for them to combine and find out which one would dominate the others over territory and food, but when it comes time for them to raid the queens chambers and steal larvae, just seal them off to be protected back in their 10g tank and they.. "lost" the battle.
As far as the amoeba, he could have been famous! It might have been a new species. I find new critters or species all the time in fresh live rock from the ocean that's used in reef tanks. You wouldn't believe what live rock looks like with tank lights out and at 3am in the morning. What people see usually shocks and grosses them out to see tank crawling with about anything you can imagine monster wise. Just miniature.
If I've got it right your idea is to connect the colonies to the same setup but let each one have there own territory and resources? I think that is a great idea! (especially since I'm sure you'll make it where you can stop the experiment if something go's wrong.)
I started watching the channel during the first Titans' "cursed" terrarium saga, which was probably the most epic period in antiverse history because of the interactions between different colonies. I know that whole thing ended badly but this would be a good, controlled version of it.
Yay new ants Canada video😊
About damn time
I like trapjaw ants and weaver ants. My daughter wants Species 555 to be used. I feel like weaver ants would be cool because of the color and the way they interact with the environment.
I have seen someone do this, his channel is called Nordic ants. I wish you luck and hope this come to fruitation!
I think when we 5 million subscribers we will be surprised with something awesome lets go AC family 30k more subs
Ooh boy here we go
YES
The yellow carpenter ant coliny looks like Camponotus maculatus with the yellow circle on the queen's gaster and the workers color match too
The golden gladiators would be perfect for the yellow colony.
Oh hell yeah been waiting so long for you to do one this is going to be epic cant wait for that vid to drop
I love terrarium builds
GAH! Am I the only one that noticed the little insect WITH the and poop? 3:53
I remember seeing carpenter ants as a kid and being blown away by their polymorphism.
You should name the first colony The Sun Warriors😊
There is a lot of Queen Ants during the night sometimes
Very knowledgeable, Love the vids❤
Great to see you back @AntsCanada! And what a great video. I can't wait to see the ecosystem form and evolve!
Thank you #antloveforever
Wow two weeks was too long! I missed this channel! Glad to see you back ❤
i suggest the name for the yellow carpenter ants colony: Zealous Empire! ) while the black carpenter ant colony: Dynamic Kingdom! i hope i choosed good names, i tried to make the name look energetic alot more that fits the colony!
nice video, as ussual. I think that yellow ants colony is Camponotus Fedtschenkoi
Excuse me.... hey you!!!.... Mr. AntsCanada, where were you last weekend? I'm gonna need you to post two videos this weekend to make up for all the emotions I was feeling these last 14 days!!! lol :)
The yellow ones are Camponotus nicobarensis I have a colony of this specie nearly couple of months old. It was actually a 2 queen colony but one of them died yesterday because of my carelessness as that queen got to much stressed but it has another queen the are gorgeous and great. These are good for a soil type as my colony in in the soil and I prefers soil then a test tube setup as it always choose that setup😅😅😅
looking forward to that BIG THING Mikey 👍👍👍
🐜My favorite species is camponotus fragilis and camponotus ca02🐜
I love Carpenter ants so much ❤
Can't wait for the spring to catch some Camponotus Ligniperda queens
I was waiting for a video and i was worried that he wont upload in a month. but here he is, after a well deserved break
WHAT!!!. ECOSYSTEM TANK!!!! Sound like a lot of fun, can't wait.
awesome, im so hyped for the upcoming plan
I AM SO FRICKEN HYPED, I FORGIVE YOU FOR NOT POSTING LAST WEEK
Your yellow ones remind me of Amber…beautiful in its range of colours. They are lovely. I think you should name them The Thriae, for the golden nature spirits of the Greeks, who lived on honey, and were the colours of honey and Amber themselves, they, like the ants, were ruled by a Queen, and the Males didn’t do anything except be very handsome…and mate.🖤🇨🇦
Love your videos they always put a smile on my face
Thanks for watching! #antloveforever
Found out last few weeks how important your videos are to me, I have been checking if you have uploaded ❤
Thank you #antloveforever
Oh no, I missed the video where you released them. I liked those colonies and their wood set-up =/ Can someone help me find the video where their release is mention ? At least, you have new carpenter colonies now ! How nice !
I'm really excited to see your plans, Mickey!❤
Mickey Mouse ?
So it sounds like your making a vivarium (or something in the same ballpark) ive honestly never seen something like that before, very curious.
HI ANTSCANDA!!
Glad to see you're back.
I think the yellow carpenter ants should be named the Color Jackets.
Finally no longer boring food videos. Thanks AC🫶🏻
Your Black Carpenters look a lot like my Camponotus aethiops 😀
I definitely can't wait to see what the plans are, but I really hope you are not going to kill all the ant colonies
That's so exciting! I can't wait to watch your progress!
Reddish brown colony needs to be named The Lumberjacks lol
It sounds awesome
It's #AntDay let's goooooo
Who loves Antscanda?
I put a big wood log into my camp fire and after a while i saw a massive amount of ants coming out of it, with the big queen then on top of them.. They where trying to get the queen to safety while it was torching hot around.. Never seen anything like it. I found out they where carpenter ants by looks and size.. Amazing.
The Arena Video was the First i have Seen from you AntsCanada
Yellows should be the amber armada
Great episode!
Love carpenter ants ❤
Question:
What ever happened to that unique species that might have been a new discovery?
I know you released the 7 colonies you had, but wasn't there an 8th different one or something?
I’m so excited your doing an ecosystem habitat. I’ve been planning to do one of them ever since I started watching your channel. I hope it works and we don’t have too many ant wars. Other then ants what other creatures will be in there.
I’m so exited! It’ll be great!
Those ants look beautiful 😍
They sure did, but did you see in the lights glare that the queen had a strange dimple in it's back end as if from an old injury that's healed over? Ants if not injured (I think?) _should_ look perfect like out of a textbook unless a genetic modification. Without seeing up close, that's something I would have missed.
I always love learning by watching your vids
Thanks for watching! #antloveforever
The only ants in my house are the black crazy ants who for some reason are somewhere in one of the walls in my kitchen
Your videos have inspired me and it looks like the local queens from AntsCanada will probably have me raising some Carpenters of my own.
You make us very curious! Love the idea!
Awesome! Thank you!
Dito that one guy right here ^
Having an understanding with a spider is new to me. And its because of you so thank you 🙏❤
in order to make waging war and going to other colony nests, perhaps you could connect them all to the main setup via tiny strings, not optimal for fighting on?
