Yess u shd buy bars of heavy wt as making charges are lesser while if u buy coins of lesser wt u have to pay....making charges everytime u buy a coin....so purchasing heavy bar saves money...

My query:
1. Do I have to pay making charges etc for coin? Say gold rate as of now is 56000/10gm and after adding making charges etc it is 65000/10gm. So for a 10gm coin do I have to pay 56000 or 65000?
2. Say I want to sell my 10gm (1 tolla) gold coin when the rate of gold (without making charges etc) is say 70000/10gm. How much will I get?

Thanks, hard to tell what should be done. Reason I said that is because volatility has been pretty crazy since 2020 and it is expected to stay wobbly for the coming years, I personally am not comfortable with buying silver in bulk at this level considering I bought mostly during 40,000 mark but if you are a new investor then can buy in small denomination and hold for a decade or so to see what happens. For Gold I am more comfortable at the moment so you can proceed to buy Gold for sure, in bulk as well. If it slips below 45,000 mark then can buy more.

BIS Hallmark Centres is the best option. Otherwise local jewellers can give some idea.

Pricewise I would suggest BRPL, RSBL, etc. Quality wise I would go for MMTC-PAMP, Kundan, etc.

Haan experimental selling toh hoga channel par don’t worry about that. Initially I started buying with the thinking I would sell for ₹. But then as I learned I have kind of changed my thinking of only liquidating when the world goes upside down or if I want to buy something and I no longer have any source of income. So, passing to next gen seems like the option for me unless something comes up before that :) I totally understand your concern about viability. Will do something interesting as soon as it is safe to step out 😇 Thanks for your input.

Yea you could, I have done that for some of my 250 and 500. They get tarnished but if you don’t mind then go ahead. You could get some silver cleaner or anti tarnish bags if you’re worried.

They will end up tarnishing in any situation. Since they’re not in certicards (tightly sealed) and maybe the plastic isn’t of that great quality so it doesn’t work well.

Yes it is difficult, you have to establish a relationship with a jeweller then it doesn’t become this hard.

Ornaments. You won’t get loan for coins/bars. Many jewellers will buy your gold without opening if they know the brand or trust the certificate. If they have doubts then they may need to open to test.

Gold will definitely go up, when and how? That isn’t upto us. Always buy gold in some amount to expand your portfolio.

Not true, not available against either. Only if the coins/bars are issued by banks then only loan can be availed, might want to read about RBI’s updates.
