If you’re still running a Tamiya in 2024 credits to you! I will be picking up a cc02 and heavily modding it to be able to compete with the axials scx10’s, vanquishes, and Traxxas trx’s. I remembering running a Tamiya TL01 for a local touring car race back in my olden days where they had the hpi pro 2’s and yokomos. I somehow won with whatever setup I had on my TL01 and took home a 1:10 Tamiya f1 kit for first place. Everyone tripped out after they found out what chassis I was using to race with and win against the big boys lol. Best memory I have of my Tamiya stuff for sure. I also had a a hpi pro 2 and a yokomo touring car at the time but I enjoyed the feel of the Tamiya TL01 better so I decided to use that instead. Thanks for the video my dude! Old video but great.
I still love my CR01 and CC02 :) My CC02 is relegated to trail and light rock crawling but my CR01 still does its fair share of heavier duty rock crawling. It's certainly way improved now with all my upgrades than shown in this video. The CR01 will never be a high performance rock crawler, but it does keep up fairly well to a number of crawlers I have and had like stock Axial Capras, GMade R1, and GMade GS02Fs. I've moved on to mostly GMade vehicles because they still give me the Tamiya feel with the way they are designed but a little bit more standard size and better performing.
So many Tamiyas have the X-factor until you run them and find only money will help you climb upwards in the rabbit hole. After my bitter experience with racing the TT-02SRX I swore I'd never have another Tamiya. That was about my 20th+ Tamiya. Bought a Monster Beetle since then which is great fun, so yeah, Tamiya still get you in the end. I'll get to 30 RC kits and beyond in my lifetime no doubt!
I bought it through RC Mart in Hong Kong. I also bought mine a while ago. Because of COVID, a lot of stuff in RC is out of stock I believe. I've been waiting for parts for some of my other cars
How to buy a website sometimes you get kids for less than a hundred bucks or low one hundreds. and if I were to get to Seattle one night pick that one cuz it's less top-heavy because of the body.
When I first got the CR01 when it came out, the cantileaver system drow me crazy. So sloopy. Ending up mounting conventional dampers. And I think it was too top heavy. Otherwise a uniqe truck and fun to built.
Yeah the zip ties eliminate the slop but it still doesn't work great. Looks cool though and I have my Redcat for real crawling so it's just nice to have the CR-01 for what it is

Informative and well narrated
Interesting, I didnt know it had planetary gearbox. Nice job Tamiya I want one even more now
Great review! Fair and realistic conclusion.

Asplenia
Big Tamiya fan so I will be getting one
Great vid bro!! Thanks for share.
Where did you buy this? As well where are you getting hop up parts? Everything i find is out of stock

Looks cool, like a racing monster truck - no included bearings?
No this version comes with brass bushings. At least it's not the crappy plastic ones 🤷

How did you hurt that index fingernail? It looks painful.
Are you going to get a, cc02?
You know I think there's lots of hop-up parts to make it work better. Watch adventure Time rc channel.
@@bradkalman2353 a steel door decided it wanted to eat my finger for lunch one day
@@bradkalman2353 maybe one day I'll get a CC-02. I wish it was IFS like the CC-01s though. I love the CC-01s and have had many of them

So another one of Tamiya over engineered cars, like the Avante. Definitely a future collectable.
What happened to your left hand pointer finger?
A metal door and the wind conspired against it.
That chassis is also old. Thats one reason it wont work so good.
Heavy & aluminum doesn't fit...
Try a txt 1 it weighs as much as a real truck.
