i love this current state of fishing where we have multiple options in how we want to do things, personally while i know there are bigger pay outs, ive had less luck getting them as consistently, so i have been sticking to the condor farming, not only have i had better consistency, but also it being up all the time helps

I had taken a break from my big fishing achievos until I saw all the new changes with fish in dawntrail. My FC mates call me crazy for loving this but man, I am having so much fun.
My go to purple scrip fish so far has been the Gar after experimenting a bit so i was excited when you brought it up. I think i fish for it kind of leisurely with prize catch + identical cast with big game every other catch, and ambitious lure only to manage GP. This is the first time I've built my own strategy for farming a fish, based on what I've learned and seen in your other videos, so i don't quite know for example if surface slapping a catfish might be better since that's an extremely common early bite there as well, but that's why i feel like i do it leisurely: I can just wait for the strong bite at the right time, don't have to use cordials generally, and i know my gp never goes to waste this way. At first it was kind of just okay, but I've just finished my pentamelds. I used the teamcraft recommended set except for the fishing rod i melded two XII and three XI perception materia on it instead of GP since watching your previous talk about the 3rd tier perception requirements, + whatever the perception and GP food is (stuffed peppers?). There's been a noticeable improvement to scrip returns, it's pretty often now that a catch without big game will still be tier 3
Hearing that older expacs fish might be worthwhile with the new skills and then on top of that fish eyes now works in places it didn't previously makes this make a lot more sense
Fish Eyes isn't playing into scrip much at the moment, but ALure has enabled and upscaled some old places, yes. Also some are just still as good as they were before, but are just getting looked at more now because they just stay on par.
yea this is true for purple scrips. and also applies to DoH, Trained Eye makes the level 90 collectables more efficient than the level 99 ones for purples.
Cloud Wasp is a weird one. I am farming it instead of Zorgor Condor because it's almost the same yield at minimum Collectability. Meaning that I can dip out on Patience II for it, actually. Which makes farming it a lot less GP intensive. (I have fully pentamelded right side atm, still working on left side after I needed a break.) The annoying part is that I am also not using the Dragonfly as Bait because I can't be asked to farm 4k Purple Scrips for 80 Bait with (to me) unknown returns. Condor feels a whole lot more consistent though. In large part because I don't have to go up to three all the time. I do kind of like the gear progression mattering though. Better than just doing the same thing all expansion.
I've just been grinding purples with Fleeting Brand because it's easy and I can chill and fill my inventory relatively quickly. I also got curious and discovered you can Identical Cast it if you pocket Calicia and use it as Swimbait. I figured it wouldn't work for some reason.
I followed Tyo'to's (tentative?) recommendation on Twitter for farming Thunderbolt Eels for purple scrip--and while I don't know if it's technically the *most* effective, it feels REALLY good and consistent (so long as pipira pira isn't up). I walk away after twenty minutes very happy and with a full inventory.
best low level script fish for me is thunderbolt bolt eel, get a window without piranha and you get 20 in 15 mins = 2K scrips, fleeting brand never got me so much got all my folklore books with eels

If I can offer one thing that would be really helpful...if you can pull just some basic images/map locations for things you mention, It would be really helpful for starter fishers/those who arent intimately familiar with all of the fishing spots. Whats your opinion on copper shark using patience 2 versus the prize catch/surface slap method in terms of GP efficiency?
I can start to do that, but truthfully a lot of these ramble videos are really just things I do when I want to put something out and don't have a ton of time to do proper 'production' on stuff... hence why images haven't shown up a bunch. If these ramble videos go on long term and are getting more well received and viewed, then I definitely will start doing that. Until then, it's going to be a 'maybe, and I'll do my best.' What I DEFINITELY will start doing more is being verbally descriptive, so if I don't have the image up on screen, I will describe things. As for copper shark - P2/Slap and PC/Slap, I like PC/Slap because it's less of a massive chunk of GP taken and you have enough to reslap and use PC regularlly, with P2 it takes a huge chunk and so you might have to wait a bit, but I've not spent a lot of time testing it.
I havent done any calculations or anything yet but ive been enjoying condors for normalfishing and ofc wivre cod/iq rax crabbies for spearfishing since its the only real option lol
Personally, for oranges I just go for the copper sharks whenever I feel like it (and it's available) sometimes I try going for the Yellow Peacock or Chain Shark but so far I only got 2 peacocks so if the copper shark is available during any of those windows I will just stay there, if shark isn't available I honestly just go do something else since I'm also trying to farm for the 500 bicolor voucher mount If Shark isn't available I do go to either Peacock or Chain shark, but I'm like, really fucking unlucky or the "drop chance" so to call it is extremely low in the first place
IMO the best orange scrip farm is Copper Shark when it's up and Zorgor Condor when it's not. Can switch to the MIN/BTN nodes if it gets too monotonous

Chain shark, because that rare 2k, or even rarer 3k scrips payout trigger some happy chemical in the brain, plus its a double mooch fish so its fun
I tried to get a chain shark yesterday with 5 yak tel crabs I didn't get a single one 😢
Or, you pull up a 1212 quality shark, and the brain flees from the body. For those who don't know, 1213+ is needed for that nice 1,000 scrip turn in.

Identical Cast (or Surface Slap) prevents you from selecting sparefish as bait.
You don't need the swimbait again, it works with Versatile Lure
