If anyone has bothered to read the qur'an, the Hadith, the Sira, they would know what an evil ideology we're facing.
I bought a copy of the Qur'an and gave up reading it about half way through after it I got the impression of an incoherent assemblage of clearly unoriginal 'religious wisdom' that I'd come across elsewhere (Bible, Torah, etc.) mixed in with pseudo-sanctified but sometimes vaguely obscene contrived folklore-type content where a central (shall we say?) 'King Arthur'-like figure was lampooned as a (by our standards) decidedly amoral 'Prophet' with pronounced criminal tendencies, who was having some very dubious dealings with an equally dubious 'deity' which didn't seem to have a great deal in common with the Christian 'God' as far as basic moral integrity was concerned. Then I came across some evidence from a leading American researcher that conformed that this impression actually reflected the way in which the current Qur'an (as we know it) was thrown together from plagiarised bits of authentic religions of the time combined with a loose collection of unverified historical, usually second-hand, and often somewhat imaginative anecdotes about a 'Prophet', cobbled together purely to provide a 'sanctified' validation for the criminal expansionist activities of a quasi-political bunch of 7th-8th century Arabian Desert thugs.
Western liberals are stupendously ignorant of this religion and mandates 😡

Most people, for most of time, have believed in an afterlife of some kind. You can coexist with these people, and you don't have a choice given the atheist birth rate.
What you can't coexist with is Islam, and you are right since their stance on apostasy has remained pretty strict, and their book only gives special exception to Christians and Jews. Who have to pay a tax instead of a forced conversion at the end of a sword.

If you obtain a copy of the Quran that has been arranged chronologically, with the abrogated passages having been struck through, it becomes very easy to correlate it with the life of Mohammed to see pretty clearly what is being taught. The obfuscation through contorted arrangement and not marking out abrogated passages is purposeful, to create a false sense of mysticism and grandeur, and to gaslight people into believing they are dependent upon their imams rather than being able to read it for themselves. An additional layer is the excuse that one may only understand the text if one can read Arabic. So dumb.
Even children used to be taught that: "sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you". Many adults of this generation appear to have missed out on that education.

I mean, I can understand someone not voting for him or not liking him at all or even kind of hating him, but with this guy in particular the people that fall into that category of TDS for some reason go out of their minds when describing him. One would think he was the next coming of Hitler Stalin and Mao rolled into one. But as long as he doesn’t go on rants like that all the time, I still give Sam a lot of my attention as he usually has some brilliant and fascinating takes, although your point is well taken, if a bit thrift-worn. I appreciate Eric Weinstein a lot, but there's something important that he's missing when he makes the reference to the Turkish performer and the south Sulawesi island gender variances, etc. The clues are in the countries. Islam was at it's inception a culturally imperialistic religion/ ideology. We are hopefully all aware that Islam originated in the Hejaz region of the Arabian Peninsular, mostly centred on the city of Medinah. Medinah was the first Islamic city state in history, when Muhammed established his theocratic rule of the city circa 622CE through his alliance with the two key arab tribes of Medinah that gave him refuge when he fled Mecca. I'll make the rest of this short.
Turkey underwent a major cultural realignment towards Europe and European thought after the end of WW1 under the defining leadership of the national hero and "Father of the Turks", Mustafa Kemal Attaturk. Mustafa Kemal was a secularist. The more liberal aspects of Turkish society are not influences of Islam upon Turkey, but the influence of the West.
It's similarly the case for Indonesia (read Sulawesi). Indonesia was a relatively late adopter of Islam, and had for millennia before hand been entirely Buddhist and Hindu. Then the Dutch and Portugese arrived in the 16th Century. Their influence remained heavily upon the forms of government and the residue of Buddhism, Hinduism and in Sulawesi, Animism, have continued to have a strong undercurrent which had in many places a shallow cultural overlay of Islamic influence to varying degrees of orthodoxy.
These factors account for their more flexible attitudes towards human sexuality, where it exists. They don't originate from Islam itself.

The Sharif of Mecca wrote to Muhammed (II), calling him ‘the one who has aided Islam and the Muslims, the Sultan of all kings and sultans,’ and-further underscoring the idea that conquest over infidels is the epitome of Islamic piety-‘the resuscitator of the Prophet’s sharia.Muslim hostility for the West is not an aberration but a continuation of Islamic history. What is difficult for many to understand is the persistence of a singular purpose, carried on century after century: the submission of the world to Allah. Both those who believe in nothing and those who believe in other gods are tempted to think such a concept to be preposterous or impossible. Yet this purpose is what motivated and inspired the Muslim caliphs, beys, emirs, sheiks, merchants, and peasants, whether Sunni or Shiite, to continue their mission no matter how hopeless it seemed at first. This expansion involved massive genocides and slaughters in various parts of the world and in different eras, about which Ibrahim gives a detailed and often graphic account. But such shocking means, deliberately undertaken, do not obviate this prior religious purpose. Indeed, this religious purpose is part of the rationale of the expansion, which used whatever means that worked. The philosophical voluntarism that finally explained Muslim actions came into being to justify the use of violence in religion. As explained by al Ghazelli in the eleventh century, Allah could will the opposite of what he willed; everything depends on Allah’s will that is bound to no permanent truth.
Islamic armies saw themselves as expansionary and messianic, eager to engage the West and to annex its territory and convert its people. It is a monolithic struggle against Christendom rather than against particular European States. And if Islam ever gains the power again, it will do exactly as it did before. The Crusades were not signs of Christian aggressiveness but of a final, usually desperate effort to protect themselves from Muslim incursions. The only time a Muslim doubts his faith is when he is soundly defeated in battle. A striking thing is the extent and prevalence of slavery, of slave markets, of the need of slaves to make possible the kind of life that Muslim leaders carved out for themselves. If it can expand by democratic means as well as with terror and war, so much the better. The end remains the same-the conquest of the world for Allah, the mission assigned to it from the beginning.
It cannot be Islam and deny what is in the Koran. Wherever the Koran is read carefully and seriously, the drive for world submission to Allah will reappear and continue. A Muslim is free to say in public that he will not practice violence provided that he secretly agrees in his heart that he will follow, when he can, the Koran and what it says about such violence. Historically, Christians and non-Christians falling under the control of Muslim majorities have been required to pay a fine and accept second class citizenship, convert, or die. Peace for Islam means the condition brought about when everyone is Muslim. Until then, a state of war with non-Muslims de facto exists. Again, the purpose of Islam is the subjection of all men and nations to Allah. Without this ultimate goal, Islam is not Islam.

Excellent summation of Islamic history from one who has delved deep into its history - from the start Islam had a hit list where key Christian cities were targeted starting with the ones close like Jerusalem, Damascus, Antioch and Alexandria - these fell quite early (except Antioch) but the really big prizes were Constantinople, Carthage and indeed Rome itself. Constantinople endured 2 great Arab Islamic sieges but these failed thanks to "Greek fire" a secret weapon. The city succumbed finally to Ottoman Turks in 1453 and then Vienna in Austria became a key target but 2 great sieges failed there too the last as recently as 1682 when only the arrival of a Polish army saved the city from certain capture. Old Rome itself and Italy in general got attacked in about 860 AD when the Vatican was ransacked. Italy itself endured hundreds of raids. The Islamic pincer movement stretched to the west with Spain falling and France being the next objective. Battle of Tours 2 days march from Paris checked the Arab advance but at one stage in that era the city of Sens in Burgundy fell to an Arab army and only was evacuated by them when the commander in chief unexpectedly died. Don't know the commenter's name; he was discussing Islam & multiple interpretations & said, "the only way to support that is secularism," & this does not apply to Judaism (but I think lots of things that apply to other religions don't apply to Judaism). Rabbinical Judaism loves multiple interpretations & the more valid interpretations you come up with the more likely it is that you're the rabbi. (I heard a rabbi say the "Eye for an eye & tooth for a tooth," could mean if you blind someone you have to read to them & offer them lifts in your car: if you knock out their teeth you have to get them soft food for the rest of your life . . . .). This penchant for multiple interpretations is the foundation for the joke that three Jews means four opinions.

Funny cause as a Christian woman, I don't exactly feel loved or respected by Christian men, church or any of these men on stage. I don't see any difference between Christianity or Islam or Judaism towards women, just degrees of the same bs. And I say this as a Christian woman, so I don't blame atheists or other groups for rejecting these religious groups.
In the Gospels, Jesus shows His love and respect for women. He raised our position from being " the last and the least." I am a Christian woman, and I am respected. I also respect myself because I know God loves me and created me for blessing. I don't put up with disrespect when it happens every once in awhile. I just get extremely polite. If you read the religious text of almost any religion you will find they are all inherently hatful. That’s why no person should ever live their life 100% by these texts. The problem is with Islam is that there are entire governments trying to enforce these religions word for word in their countries.
I don't see how you can say the Bible is inherently hateful. A careful reading will show the pervasive love and sovereignty of God. Many examples of God's love and protection, provision and mercy are throughout the Bible. Keep examining the text! Especially the Gospels. Jesus illustrates God's love for us! Look at how He treated women! He brought dignity and respect to women.

I have heard Malaysia is now becoming less liberal. About 30 years ago Turkey used to be very liberal, but Erdogan is doing everything he can to re-Islamify Turkey, ie. changing the education structure in schools to indoctrinate children. I visited Turkey in the 1990s and again recently, and I noticed a lot more women are covering up now compared to 30 years ago.

I’d like to ask about the origin of the burka.Was it a form of dust sheet ? I suppose wearing a burka would be sensible if you have just spent hours getting beautifully dressed and coifed.Also,as Omar Sharif inadvisably said,older actresses like being able to hide their age.
I find the.burka to be a.very ugly garment .The colour is very unhealthy and unhygienic in a hot climate ..No design whatsoever , very demeaning .I contrast it with the uniform or habit worn by the catholic nuns who taught us at school . The full length dress with full skirt , held at the waist with a leather belt ,on which they keys etc was extremely elegant ,regal in fact .It was generally black but they changed it to white when working in hot climates .A shame the Arab womem have no one at all to speak for them .
