Your videos are great to watch Mike. I live by Alicante on Thursday last week i was at Guadalentin when a Golden Eagle dropped down off a pylon and flew past my car just incredible.
I think you do so well in that heat, i am not quite as old as you, and I would not be able to stand it so well done and of course the images are great 👍
Hi Mike I was in Spain in May where the temperature was also 44 degrees so my respects on staying the course. You must be ever so slightly mad to endure those temperatures in the hide but you did get some magnificent shots.
Thanks, Mike for a great video better you than me in that sort of heat. Thanks for sharing, I'm off to get a sponge to mop the puddle from under the monitor after all that sweating.
44 degrees how much water did you consume ? Hopefully he left another plastic tank for you to drink ! Amazing Flycatcher worth the effort alone. Still waiting for Sony and pro capture amazing feature 👍
Great shots as ever Mike. I’m not sure I could stand those temperatures. I’m currently in on holiday in Florida and I’m struggling with the 30-35 degrees here, never mind the 40’s you are enduring.
Great photos as always Mike. I was an Olympus user mainly because of their ProCapture feature until Nikon offered the same functionality. I expect you know that the Nikon Z9 also has an intelligent ‘auto capture’ feature where you can not only set the distance/direction of motion/subject shape but also eliminate areas in the frame that you don’t want the camera to be triggered to shoot. This can all be used in combination with Pre-release capture. I mention this because it could be a way of avoiding the sauna of a Spanish hide! The problem is you wouldn’t get to enjoy seeing nature in real time - and do we really want user skills to become almost completely redundant?
I have been asking why cameras can't introduce the new feature on Nikon for years. Once we has AF it was a simple step to take. Detect movement take a picture. We need one more step. A tripod head that auto pans to follow the bird. Then we can all retire. AI wins again
Mike, an artificial water pond works terribly well. Clever way of shooting birds but the temperature is unbearable 44C in Spain. Outstanding videos and pics. My best regards. I have been shooting various birds 20 Km from Lisbon in the Tejo (Tagus) river estuary close to Alcochete.
They do not have a website at this point, but they are on Facebook. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064572888545 From there I would use the Whatsapp link on the top right.
Another awesome video Mike thanks for posting. I wanted to share a fellow tuber that seems to have some of the passion you share Steve Mattheis for wildlife "although he is a nikon shooter". He also puts on some trips that may spark your interest. I would copy a video to you but I think utube will delete my comment if I did. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Hello Mike, A little remark about the sound of your voice in the comments in the films: every time there is a "s" in the word, it gives a very sharp hissing sound which is not very nice to hear. For the rest: I do like your films very much and I learn a lot, so please do go on! Aloys Sanders The Netherlands
OMG! 44C is an uncomfortable heat but it brings the birds to the water. I was interested in your comments about the Turtle Dove. I photographed my first Turtle Dove in Carnarvon in Western Australia in 2021 and at the time I wasn't sure what species I was observing. Quite common now in southern WA.
Hi John, I can't think of any snazzy chairs in my videos. I have a very old camping stool (20 years maybe) which my wife replaces the canvas on about every 5 years. That is in the YT films. No idea of the make, but you would buy such a stool from Fishermans shops.
The only challenge are small, fast birds. Anything larger than a pigeon is actually pretty easy. And the image composition is a challenge because cropping with the OM1 is somewhat limited.@@MikeLaneFRPS
Sell your GH6 ASAP! Panasonic G9 II came that does everything like GH6, but has much better C-AF based on phase detection (at last!), is lighter, it has better battery live, an option for battery grip, it has better DR in video in low ISO and it shoots stills at 60fps! With C-AF! Prices of GH6 will drop terribly. Soon it could be worth nothing. In fact if you shoot from a tripod, G9II may turn out that it could replace your OM-1 too. Not sure if this will be as fast in terms of AF, but it definitely renders GH6 irrelevant. Also it may be a good time to sell Leica 100-400mm lens. People are going to buy this for their G9 II's
111F!! You are dedicated AND gifted Mike Lane.
Noticed you saved the greatest .....the Eagle Owl....for last!
Yes, thanks
More great images and commentary. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it

Glad you enjoyed it

Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice video again. Been many times in Los Monegros but never visited a hide there. Now I know where to go next time. Thanks Mike !
There are lots of such hides in Spain
great shots thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it
another beautiful video Mike! Next year we will go to Spain for a month, so I hope to be able to visit these hides.
Have fun!
Awesome as always! That heat probably caused birds to frequent the waters as well. Great pictures and videos for us to enjoy
I think so too
Hi Mike I was in Spain in May where the temperature was also 44 degrees so my respects on staying the course. You must be ever so slightly mad to endure those temperatures in the hide but you did get some magnificent shots.
More than sightly
Thanks, Mike for a great video better you than me in that sort of heat. Thanks for sharing, I'm off to get a sponge to mop the puddle from under the monitor after all that sweating.
I am in a hide in Spain now and expecting it to reach a cool 33 degrees by 11am
Great video. I don't think I could stand that much heat even to get all those brilliant images and footage.
Many thanks
Great video Mike. Love this series, so many incredible birds coming to the drinking pools, cant wait for the next. Have a great day mike!
Glad you like them!
Great photo’s and video’s again Mike 👍❤️
Glad you like them!
Great video Mike, I'm very impressed that you could handle the heat in the hide! Kudos 👍
Thanks 👍
Thank you .
Good video Mike. A fantastic set up, although I dont know how you could tollerate those temperatures. I couldn`t.
I am in a hide now in Spain and it is a cool 33 degrees
You certainly get about ! @@MikeLaneFRPS
Another wonderful video Mike. Thank you for sharing. Were you still using ISO 1600 for the still shots when it is so bright?
Never go slower.

Wonderful feature

Once had it hotter in India in April. Very difficult to do anything.
You really suffer for your passion but the results are beautiful. So sharp and as a subscriber I really appreciate your efforts.
Many thanks

Love your videos. Are you going to test the Panasonic G9MKII? I have the OM-1 and the 150-400, and would love to hear your report!!! Please
Not likely to be able to afford one in the short term.
ok a loaner?@@MikeLaneFRPS
Hi Mike, great work! Can you point me to where to rent the hides? I do not want to book the de Heer tour you mention, but just the hides… thanks!

That is the Spotted Turtle dove I assume.
@@MikeLaneFRPS No the Spotted Turtle Dove is common in Queensland and NSW. The Turtle Dove is confined to WA. Smaller bird to the Spotted Turtle Dove.
Streptopelia senegalensis.
Hi Mike, I'm new to your videos, I've noticed in some you have a very snazzy folding chair, could you tell me the make please
Hi John,
I can't think of any snazzy chairs in my videos. I have a very old camping stool (20 years maybe) which my wife replaces the canvas on about every 5 years. That is in the YT films. No idea of the make, but you would buy such a stool from Fishermans shops.
Hello, I love pro-capture on my OM1. It`s almost too easy to take good photos.
I am predicting it will soon become so easy people will lose interest.
The only challenge are small, fast birds. Anything larger than a pigeon is actually pretty easy. And the image composition is a challenge because cropping with the OM1 is somewhat limited.@@MikeLaneFRPS
