The quality of gaming when mixed with this socialist model of perpetual payments indefinitely are why the experience is degrading. Devs no longer have incentive to make it better when they get paid regardless.

The only place i see web3 gaming making sense is if you have something like decentralized hosting of a multiplayer game. So instead of the developer/publisher hosting all the games - anyone can run a game server. So then you can use a blockchain to move your verified character sheets/assets from one server to another. Servers could run their own campaigns, game variants, etc. It'd also potentially remove the burden of hosting from a smaller developer so they could just focus on development.
