That looked so blissful Thomas and what a great way to be detached from the madness of the world and be immersed in nature. Hope you and your family have a good Christmas and thank you for all the work you have put in and shared over the past year
I find myself enjoying your process of taking the image than the image themselves. Perhaps, end results actually doesn't matter anymore. The travels, the preparations, the lead up and the joy of just being there is enough for me to be hooked to the channel :)
This is precisely why I watch. A photograph is the tip of an iceberg, with so much experience hidden beneath the surface. I love that this channel explores that experience.
I'd kill to be in the middle of nowhere right now. Looks lovely there. Nice minimalist Portra shots too. Congratulations on half a million subscribers Tom!
Sometimes it overwhelms me, as an amateur photographer, not knowing what to shoot, what to tell. Then I see incredibly talented people like Thomas and on one side I feel relieved because he proves over and over again that you can find a good shot almost everywhere. But on the other hand it makes me feel bad because I don’t have that “eye” for photography that goes beyond the obvious.
After a long night of caring for very sick people i watch your videos and your photography has a real calming affect on me. Thanks you minimalistic photos are my relaxation therapy.
Haha, for me the "relaxation therapy" is in the morning (since his videos come out overnight here)...I watch his latest episodes over a cup of coffee and it sets me in a calm mood for the day
The videos are just perfection. Really liked the sounds of changing the settings on the lens. It's all so immersive and soothing. Amazing picture of the grass on the dunes; you can almost feel the bits of warmth from the sun.
Yeah that’s something I personally have to remind myself…that’s it’s not always about the final image, it’s about being out and connecting with nature. Thanks Tom
If your shoes, boots, wellys are wet, you should stuff newspapers inside to soak up the wetness and maybe change every time, also a good way to get off smells.
Your joy is infectious. I get pockets of time like that and it keeps me sane. You look so happy and content. I am so pleased for you. Thanks for all your hard work on these vlogs. Must be exhausting. God bless you. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
When you shoot in remote locations, and we see tiny snow-covered villages in the Himalayas or wind-swept houses huddled on shorelines in the Outer Hebrides, I wonder about the people living in these dwellings. The photos you make are evocative of nature, color and form, but also of lives lived just beyond the horizon of our imagination. Thank you for inviting us along on these journeys.
"Getting lost" in what you are doing is for me the most important aspect of photography. That is the attraction. Few other things do that for me. I suspect this is true for many of those who watch this channel.
Zen is right! It was obvious that you were having a wonderful day. Never mind the light letting you down at the end, it happens. Lovely shots, beautiful and minimal!
There's something about your videos that puts me out in the field while watching. Every Wednesday night about 11:30 i sit down with a little snack and watch your video. Then off to bed and dream of the next photography adventure.
Peet boot dryer will dry your boots in about 4 hours and you can also get pair of glove dryer attachments cost between $25 to $40 U.S. depending on sales or seller.
A nice blissful and peaceful morning-- The shots that took me were the drone shots with dark ribbons of water against the sand-- was just a quick "B" roll shot but that was more to my liking-- The pics of the beach and estuary were just to blah in color and scope for my taste-- I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
Just loved the calming effect of the estuary photography that through your video reached all the way up to Belgium! Thank you so much for this and wishing you a beautiful Christmas and a 2022 filled with beautiful light! My favourite photograph of the series: image 5, just love the soft pastel colours and the s-curves bringing you all the way to the feeders in the distance! great work!
Watching your videos sometimes takes me twice as long, cause I get inspired to revisit some of my photos (this time of the estuary at Borth -y-Gest), then get thirsty seeing your cuppas! Nice peaceful scenes.
Thomas , I could never / would never call the location "nothingness" . I've walked those very similar steps on a number of occasions. I would call it, one of the most peaceful, tranquil places on Gods green earth. keep up the great content.
Nice ambiance on those beach shots. Your right, it's often not the objective weather a hill or a picture. It's the soaking up the environment. . . . Love your van shots. My Deli has not the camperized interior but I still love it...made me smile that your wipers are as loud as mine!
You know Thomas I'm not typically a drone lover ... but I hope you clicked a few of those! Nothing against Rodger Miller, but you my friend are "King of the Road" Super inspirational! As usual, thank you!
Beautiful journey Thomas, the scenery is stunning and you captured some nice ones. Just noticed you are now over 500K subscribers, congratulations and well earned.
This is pretty damn inspiring, flat lighting which may have caused some to leave the camera in the car but still getting out and enjoying the scenery has proved that you need to be able to ‘see’ your images to get results, not my strongest point. Great video, thank you Thomas.
This is how I feel so often on on my photographic ventures Tom. Just being out and Being There, not always getting a great shot, is really what its all about.........
To be honest I didn’t thinking those beach images are your strongest work but as long as you are enjoying the process why not. The last image with the tall grass in front is definitely my pick of the bunch.
I have had this exact problem this week. Thank you for the inspiration to still get out there and do it! Once again, I just want to give you a nod of appreciation for the B-roll. Don't think we don't notice the time that goes into it 😉
What a video! I've got to tell you, Thomas, personally I don't really click with your photos this time, but man, these drone shots were outstanding. So good material - and that comes from a person who actually DESPISES drones. But wow, what great views. Bravo!
I really enjoyed this video Thomas. It brought me back to a simpler and stress-free time in my life when I could afford to take things slow and enjoy a beautiful place like that at my own pace. My grandfather was from Scotland, and while I’ve never been, these videos really make me want to visit some day. Even the rain has some appeal to me as it adds to the sense of remoteness of that location.
Beautiful. One thing I’m wondering about - why not use extra film backs? You can load one with BW film, one with E6 and one with C41, and not worry about the “should my next roll be Eterna” problem.
There's always going to be someone who comments on something that has absolutely no relevance to your photography whatsoever.. and on this occasion that 'someone' is me.. I love your wooden mug! No, not your face, the one you were drinking out of! You know I think your photography is brilliant too, I don't need to tell you that! LOL
Absolutely love your minimalist perspective. Strangely the images are both zenful and exciting at the same time! Merry Merry Christmas to you and your family! Take care and be safe out there….
Thomas I was there a few years ago, its a dream for photography, great shots. Even when the light does not go your way, you always make up with some good grub lol.
Tom, when I shoot on sand/snow I bring three tennis balls that have an X cut into them for the tripopd leg tips. It makes the tripd much more stable in the sand so that your figeting with the camera making settings changes, etc. doesn't cause the feet to dig in deeper and mess up your composition. Totally worth it for those days like that. Even more important on dry sand.
What's wrong with you man? "Never taken a shot of a dune that I'm happy with". The cover of your amazing (and much treasured) book is a bloody great image of a sand dune! Love the minimalist images in this video, Tom. Lubbly-dubbly.
Lovely stuff, Love the way the water shapes the estuary. really liked this one. You are turning out a full length vid thats not boring and is very high quality. a big thank you.
am I the only one that thinks your cooking looks amazing? Could start a campervan cooking series hehehe. BTW I appreciate your showing your top photos at the end.
Absolutely marvellous images in a truly magical part of the world. Your videos are always fascinating to watch. Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2022👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tom thank you for being such an inspiration to so many again this year, you have bought back fond memories for some, calmed others in such a mad world we are currently living in and encouraging others by your own actions. Thank you for all that you are and all that you give to others without probably realizing it. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your family.
Super video Thomas. The images were stunning, such a beautiful place. Luskintyre ? l think. Easy to get lost in in the moments of such a beautiful place and no one around. Thank you as always for sharing your information. Take care Alioban
You nailed the philosophy of your morning shoot as well as the images. I agree with you, capturing the mental satisfaction of a day like that is just as important as capturing the images....... unless you are working on a commission job. :)) I've been fortunate enough to capture that feeling a few times in 60 years of shooting.
8:58 Pet peeve: it's not the choice of focal length that compresses the landscape, it's the distance from the landscape, e.g. the perspective, that causes compression. The landscape would be just as compressed with a wide angle lens from the same spot you took the image, the focal length only crops into the perspective you have chosen. If you cropped into the wide angle image, choosing a 150mm frame, the wide angle image will show the exact same compression. Like I said, it's a pet peeve. Something Ansel Adams also explains in this books (The Camera, The Negative, The Print). Causes lots of confusion with photographers all the time.
Love the spot you stopped been there several times myself in my van. Love your work on this video
That certainly takes the pressure off.
What a great day of photography. Those days when you can get lost in your photography are the best.
The moment when you said "what a life!", I replied you won man, you won in life.
First 10 minutes of that video where brilliant, pure bliss, lovely music, scenery and images. Love it.
Do no know what it was, but this video brought tears to my eye.
I would have never thought that the film and your attitude would have done that.
Your videos always bring me so much serenity and remind me to cherish the process of photo taking rather than just the end result. Thank you for this!
After a long night of caring for very sick people i watch your videos and your photography has a real calming affect on me. Thanks you minimalistic photos are my relaxation therapy.

a man who can find zen with one wet cold foot is truly focused 😇
The colours from the Portra are just stunning.
The videos are just perfection. Really liked the sounds of changing the settings on the lens. It's all so immersive and soothing. Amazing picture of the grass on the dunes; you can almost feel the bits of warmth from the sun.

Watched this before my shift working Christmas in the NHS. Relaxed me no end.
His channel is never boring me and I always waiting his another video. No matter millions followers and he is legend in landscape photography.

How is it possible that i just wondered if you have a new video out 2 minutes ago!? Awesome mate!
Psychic skills ✌️

A very enjoyable and zen movie including the soundtrack. It excels at its atmosphere. Beautiful.
Zen is right! It was obvious that you were having a wonderful day. Never mind the light letting you down at the end, it happens. Lovely shots, beautiful and minimal!
This entire photo shoot needs to be done with the medium format panorama camera. That would be so stunning.
There's something about your videos that puts me out in the field while watching. Every Wednesday night about 11:30 i sit down with a little snack and watch your video. Then off to bed and dream of the next photography adventure.

My wife bought me your book for Christmas and I’ve got to say it’s brilliant!
Thomas , I could never / would never call the location "nothingness" . I've walked those very similar steps on a number of occasions. I would call it, one of the most peaceful, tranquil places on Gods green earth. keep up the great content.
Photography for the soul-very nice too!
Nice ambiance on those beach shots. Your right, it's often not the objective weather a hill or a picture. It's the soaking up the environment. . . . Love your van shots. My Deli has not the camperized interior but I still love it...made me smile that your wipers are as loud as mine!
What a magical place to just be in the moment plus great photos too
When you cracked open the door, I felt the draught here!
Love the drone images.
You know Thomas I'm not typically a drone lover ... but I hope you clicked a few of those! Nothing against Rodger Miller, but you my friend are "King of the Road" Super inspirational! As usual, thank you!
One of my favourites from you in a long time Tom.
The estuary looked very blissful
Love the Zen..... I totally get that vibe, thanks Thomas!

I'm so pleased you are shooting film as well as digital Thomas 🙂 These are some cracking photo's......... Brilliant vid too 🙂

Great video, so polished well done. I'm not forgetting to mention the beautiful images.
Congratulations on the 500k subscribers. Very well deserved!!!
Thank you. Merry Christmas and a happy new year. All the best. 👍📷😎
Excellent video, Tom! What a peaceful, calming video! Lovely shots! Isn't shooting the Hasselblad is just such a pleasure!!
Almost therapeutic to watch. Very well put together Thank u
Very chilled and enjoyable Thomas.
I have had this exact problem this week. Thank you for the inspiration to still get out there and do it!
Once again, I just want to give you a nod of appreciation for the B-roll. Don't think we don't notice the time that goes into it 😉
Just beautiful soft on the eyes images Tom, loved it
You'd never think that a simple photo of grass would be this stunning, and yet here's one at 13:55.
What a video! I've got to tell you, Thomas, personally I don't really click with your photos this time, but man, these drone shots were outstanding. So good material - and that comes from a person who actually DESPISES drones. But wow, what great views. Bravo!
"What a life". Says it all really. Enjoyable video Tom.

You took a fantastic Sand Dune shot Tom, best shot of the video in my opinion, loved the Blues contrasting with the grasses!
I like the simplicity. Well done 👏
Bruce Percy would be proud! Very well done
Thank you Thomas.
Great photo at 9:15. Colors really pop, especially in the background.
Holy cow. This is my first video from this channel and i am IN LOVE. Subbed
Great videography and editing. A nice peaceful watch.
Thomas I was there a few years ago, its a dream for photography, great shots. Even when the light does not go your way, you always make up with some good grub lol.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Thank you for sharing, & merry Christmas to you and yours x

I remember him using CDs in the past to put under each tripod foot - seems to work quite well in very wet/muddy ground!
Very peaceful photos. Enjoyed the video Thom. 👍

The sand dune image was my favorite, as dreamy as a painting! 😍
So peaceful photography! Again enjoy watching your video
Fantastic work both on video and film.
Harris always provides great light at all times of year 👍
Looked like a wonderful outdoor expunged!
Being immersed in the process of photography in such a blissful natural setting is like heaven. Thanks for your videos. Happy Christmas.
That first 11 minutes! Mesmerising, hypnotic, immersive!! This could have been one of your best ever videos - many thanks!
Ohhhh that nothingness is my absolute favourite. 😍 You're taking my ideal photography trip! Living vicariously, thank you so much. Love from Canada. 💛
Beautiful pictures and an amazing video like always, thank you for sharing we enjoyed it.
Christmas came early this year🎄thank you for another wonderful and relaxing video!
Lovely stuff, Love the way the water shapes the estuary. really liked this one. You are turning out a full length vid thats not boring and is very high quality. a big thank you.

Gorgeous shapes, beautiful pastel colours and not a soul in sight. My type of photo trip, very similar to Orkney 😉👍
Wishing you the best! Happy holidays!

Some days we get lucky and everything comes together. I loved this location. The images you shared were very nice. Nice way to head into Christmas.
Ох это так атмосферно и спокойно 🥰
Очень красивые и умиротворенные кадры

"Mirror lock-up" I will be thinking this everytime I take a landscape photo now. And I don't shoot film. Thanks Thomas
