Next week’s video is going to be a MINIMALISM Q&A! So ask me anything! 🙂 Any questions for me about minimalist living, or about how I use minimalism in my life and my experiences with it? 👇👇👇 Please leave your questions in the comments and be sure to check out next week’s video for a candid talk about minimalism :) Thank you!!!
Personal question for dear Vera! Do you ever feel pressured to be "true minimalist", in a sense how many people portrait it online? Things like having certain number of items and certain aesthetics. Thank you for this video! One of my favorite videos on the platform, really!
Question about Documents and papers. Do you digitalize them and thrash the papers of 5+ years old? I'm from the same country as you, and knowing we need to keep every important document 5 years or longer, but can we use Google Fotoscan on those 5+ year old documents, and then thrash them? Ofcourse it doesn't apply to documents of insurance.. (of uitvaartdocumenten) but I mean something like "zorgpolissen uit 2011" (don't know what the english word is) and bank documents of an old account of 10 years ago..
@@AAyres-ie8sf If you regret getting rid of things at times, then put them in a basket or box out of the way and out of sight. So if find you really truly need, you can retrieve it. But do not retrieve everything. Also when you buy things, think it is a want or a need. All the best.
Fantastic video! Regarding the minimalism question. I realised by now that minimalism and decluttering is a continuous process. How do you stay motivated to keep going? It sometimes feels to me as if there should be a certain point where you have to reach your decluttering goals and have the space of your dreams, and that it should somehow stay like that without any additional work.
I recently kicked Facebook and Instagram out of my smartphone. Best decision ever! Now I realize how addicted I was. It's scary. Now I only use UA-cam but only for content which make me grow personaly or professionaly. Like your channel!😊
I didnt do that as i use for business 95% of the time. But, i don't buy magazines, newspapers or either i pay for cable. If i feel i need ipdated news. I watch here on yutube or as you correctly said. The news will find me😀🥰😗
I also do... I hate how it is considered “anti social” to want to be alone... when in reality it’s such a wonderful way to be present and is so so refreshing.
@@ethanlander4252 I agree so much on this! :,( My mother keeps telling me to be more and more social. But I can! I just prefer to be alone! It feels much more calmer and relaxing that way. No loud distracting noises, just peace.....
You wouldn’t believe this but just yesterday I told my husband I am not watching the news! It brings me such sadness. I too am a highly sensitive person. It is amazing..late at night I can lay there in silence and focus on peace and calmness and the next day everything is much clearer and I am calmer. This is such a beautiful video. Thank you for this.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video Lucy and I completely understand your decision to stop following the news, hope it will help you as much as it helps me :)
I think it’s important to shunt out things that aren’t real, going under a rock isn’t a great idea. It’s important to know what’s going on in the world
Since I started MINIMALISM I quit my all social media account. I feel now more encouraged and focused with full of energy. Best way to find peaceful time and place is beach. You will get enough fresh air and quite place to sit and relax. This is much life changing Vera. Keep sharing, we are happy to follow you 😍😘❤😊😊
This is so beautiful, Vera. Silence can be life changing. Our lives are so chaotic and loud so much of the time. Giving ourselves much needed breaks in solitude can help salvage our sanity. Thank you for this work of art. 💚🦋🌿
Oooh! Ö I’ve been wanting to learn how to cook and bake! :D Not sure what mother will think though... I’m banned from using the stove and I somehow keep burning things in the microwave!
Vera !! O my Vera !!!! You are so much like me !! ...a friend from India ! My name is Ruchi !!! My experiences and timing are synchronized so much with you !!! Amazingly beautiful to have you in mylife !!! 😊
I was born during the war and whole my life everyone I know has been hoarding things, probably with the unconscious fear of something like that happening again. Letting go of things feels freeing, feels optimistic, feels like I have enough! Thank you for your channel, lovely Vera!
I can't even imagine what war can do to people, thankfully I've never had to experience something like that. I can definitely understand why people would want to hold on to their posessions when they have lived through something like that. I'm glad you enjoy my channel Isidora, have a wonderful day!
I also made a decision a couple of years ago to not watch the news and I’m much happier in my life. I decided to concentrate on being kind and helpful and doing the good that I saw that needed to be done. I’m tired of listening to media opinions on life and how it needs to be lived. No one knows what’s best for me....only I can know that. So quiet times in my life have become very important to me. Thank you for sharing....you have a fan who believes as you do and I’m not even a minimalist!
A very precious memory and profound experience for me as a born again Christian, Was when I went to a 3 day long silent retreat put on by my church. It was very interesting to be silent for three days and about 3/4 of the time being with 30 other people. I gained so much insight about myself. It was wonderful.
I love early mornings because that is my sacred alone and quiet time. When I don't use my mornings to reset, I can feel overwhelmed for the rest of the day. Thanks for the reminder to value our silence... 🧘🏻♀️
I do that often actually... Sometimes not on purpose. Sometimes the music stopped and I didn't even noticed 🤷🏻♀️ I'm just there present with my knitting.
Exactly. 🐱 Silence is my favorite way of starting the day. Being able to take my time and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet before getting caught by the world's "noises" feels like a luxury.
Two days back, I was wondering when was the last time I was not occupied without any gadget, book, or any negative thought. Just me and my healthy thoughts. We are missing silence amidst all this noise. A very thoughtful video, Vera! And well-edited too. 😊
Hi Vera, another fabulous video, thank you! This video really resonated with me. I never buy a newspaper and try to avoid the news. I am deeply affected by stories of animal cruelty and those things upset me so much and live with me for months.
DazzleDust32 I'm the same this things from the news affecting me for months!! I REALLY though I'd be the only one for it having this much of an affect or impact!!
DazzleDust32 that’s how I am about people mistreating their children.. I can’t handle those stories. (Well all life being mistreated is horrible even animals) so I am also focusing on the good and praying for God to help with those innocent.
I agree with you wholeheartedly! I stopped reading the news and it allows me to be calm. This helps me when engaging with my children and any problems they may have. The greatest difference is my ability to see both sides of an issue which was very difficult when reading the news.
How cool that we share the same favorite book! I just started practicing silence and I followed an advice from one of your videos; no distractions during meal times. got the ball rolling and now I only check social media once a month. Planning on deleting all of my social media soon. Like the saying goes "Comparison is the thief of joy" and I feel so much lighter and happier with silence and less time on social media. Now I practice silence by walking my dog more, enjoying the parks and by reading more books. Please do make your social media video in the future! Love your content!
Thank you for this channel. I am 68 yr young and I am so impressed with your advice and wisdom. I am also a sensitive person and your advice is much appreciated. God bless you. NY USA
Believe it or not, I actually gave up news, especially political news, for Lent this year (yes, I'm serious!). It was so peaceful and restful that I may never go back. Then, a few weeks ago, my TV went out, so I stopped watching it. It blew my mind how lovely the quiet is! (I do still follow my favorite sports teams by streaming the games.) The quiet is so healing. Facilitates my medítation practice, too. Thank you so much for this video and this channel. You are wise and caring, and a great help to many. I suffered from burnout several years ago, after my mother died. Not knowing what was happening to me, I went on working for 2 years before having a health breakdown, then retired. It's only recently that I can function at all without sleeping 14-15 hrs/day, and still do sometimes.
Instead of fomo (fear of missing out) we should enjoy more as in jomo = joy of missing out 😊 I also try to limit my screentime and news, I stopped watching a long time ago 😌 It feels like it’s drowning me, like you say.. I rather try to do better 🙂 I seek silence sometimes and it feels good to meditate in these moments 🙌🏼
Heart of Kentucky. Hi Vera. Silence is one of my favourite things. I'm considering letting go of the news on UA-cam also. I'm still on UA-cam almost constantly. What I will keep, are the positive things. Such as the relaxing videos, creative projects, like making Prayer journals, as well as other journals, Bible Studies. There are many wonderful people and creative projects I can be a part of. I'll chat with you another time. Katie.
You remind me of myself! I get easily overwhelmed by sounds, crowds, places where there are too many things going on, and too many choices of what to do and buy. All I want is a simple life, to be close to nature and loved ones, and do the least harm possible while I'm alive. 🥰✌🏼 I love your video and your calm demeanor. You're such a beautiful soul! 💖
Everything you said is absolutely true.. In fact, you gave me so much knowledge about how important is silence in our daily lives. I'm busy checking my friends and helping them all the time, while I forgot my own needs. I feel lost, no directions and suddenly become depressed. I'm very optimistic person before and I enjoy my life to the fullest. Our body and mind are also need some rest to all the noise in our everyday lives. Thank you so much for this amazing video. You saved me.. ❤️🌹✨🍀
Thanks Vera - your best video ever! Immediately prior to watching this video I was watching a TED talk by Rolf Dobelli who also talks about how overconsumption of the news doesn’t developed your knowledge of current affairs, but saturates the mind. Thank you once again for this excellent video!!! Kind regards Damien
Wow! So much wisdom in this video. Thank you, Vera. I too have stopped watching and listening to news because watching and hearing about every-day horrors like helicopter crashes cause me to suffer for days or weeks. I believe the best thing we can do for the world is to be joyful--as you said, just smile at someone--not making myself miserable by ruminating about things I can do nothing about. Another thing that keeps me from taking too many things into my mind is the fact that once something comes in, whatever it is, it stays. You can stop putting more things in but, unlike decluttering a house, what goes into the mind stays stored in the memory, whether or not we're conscious of it. I so look forward to your videos. I was gone all day Saturday, and today, Sunday, I saw your video in my in box and was, well, joyful!
Thanks so much Cheryl for looking forward to my videos :) And you're right, the content we consume does become a part of us, the way we think, speak and act, so it's important to be mindful
Hi Vera, I love watching your channel. Silence has become extremely valuable to me, for over 4 years I did not have it in my home, not for a single moment. I had to resort to custom made earplugs, noise cancelling headphones and a soundmachine to mask the low rumbling noise that was present day and night, non-stop. I had to sleep in a different room with my head near the foot end of my bed where it was somewhat doable with earplugs or soundmasking. It was torture, literally. I got burnout also because I could not recover enough due to the lack of silence. It stopped last week, when 10 stories below the old airconditioners of a store were replaced by new ones. The silence and peace has returned and it feels as if finally I've got my life back. Silence is very very valuable.
That is so true that our stuff 'talks' to us. Missed you Vera! I was hospitalized for two weeks for my mental illness and was shut off from the world. All that was in my room were two beds, a sink, a bathroom, and locker closet. There were very little things to distract me. I just needed to de-stress and be alone with my thoughts. Sometimes that can be a frightening thing. I spent quite a bit of my time in silence. Even when we were eating we didn't talk very much. I was released yesterday and am doing much better now. Thank you for the video.
I am totally in agreement with you about the news. Don't let people tell you otherwise. I have had people tell me that I live "under a rock" because of it, but as you said you cannot help but hear
Playing piano, crossword puzzles, or sudoku helps me zone out and relax. Reading my Bible with a cup of tea also sounds very helpful and intentional. Taking a news break sounds like a very good idea - so many depressing things on it that are out of my control. Thanks for the good ideas to improve my life. Still working on the decluttering, but my goal this year is to get rid of at least 1 thing every day. That will lighten my load by at least 365 things by the end of the year. YEA!
I absolutely can relate. I am also super sensitive. I think finding ways to live your life fully without being debilitated by constant bad news is a good choice. She clarifies that each person makes his or her own choice but she shares what has worked for her. For that, I am grateful. Thank you. I am going to try those ideas!
I do so agree with you about excluding the news media from your life. I too am a very sensitive person who can easily become depressed and overwhelmed by exposure to world news. This does not mean that I am sticking my head in the sand or not taking responsibility. Like you, I try to do positive acts where I can and by supporting organisations that try to help make this a better world. I used to get criticised by others for not following the news but I now find that more and more people are choosing to do the same. I find your channel invaluable. Many thanks and much love 🙏
Thanks so much and I'm so glad my videos are valuable for you :D And I know what you mean, in my surroundings also more and more people are starting to see my point of view, although sometimes I'll still get criticism haha. Do what feels good for you :)
Happy Zen, loved this video which has given me further awareness of both silence and minimalism both of which I’m integrating more and more into my life. You have a lovely presence !
Yes to no social media it's exactly the opposite of 'silence' - too much 'noise'. I also find it funny that people spend so much time scrolling on 'past' moments totally robbing the 'present' moment. I only view UA-cam and with intentions of learning or inspiration. No other media even TV since 2017. I have never had so much peace and pure happiness! Thank you for sharing this!!!! Been on a mission with minimalism now and love to find tips for the home and others way to declutter. x0x0
Thank you for sharing about cutting out news/social media. I have over the years taken a break from news as it is too depressing and difficult for me to handle. Now I understand my reasoning and will continue to do so with even less guilt.
This video made me stop doing what I was at the moment and focus just on it. Very beautifully done! Thank you. I will invite silence into my life again, as scary as it can be. It might become my good friend.
Thanks for the video, Vera! As a person battling anxiety, sometimes I feel like the noises come from inside my own head... But changing things bit by bit, like letting things I don't need/like go and organizing a better environment for me to sleep was my way of making the ambient become silent. All the thoughts inside my head plus all of the visual/audio stimuli made such a mess for me, I wasn't able to hear myself, I stopped knowing who I really was and who I wanted to be. Now it's been a long path for me ongoing, but the silence in its various ways has been crucial to me getting better, reconnecting to myself and my dreams. So, Vera, thank you very much! Cheers from Brasil!
I am not on social media either and never have been. My communication with family and friends is via phone, email or snail mail. Your thoughts on silence in this video are profound -- one of your very best. Thank you so much.
I know we need some people who keep track, and apparently some people do NOT feel emotionally slaughtered when partaking (?), but, like you, I’m can’t withstand the resulting feelings of anger, fear, impotence, despair, sadness, overwhelm, .... Reducing my input increases my ability to find calm connection (with my inner world, with others, with the synchronicity of the universe) which only benefits how I move in the world and the impact I make in it. It’s for the best.
I can attest to all your statements as i did most of it in my own life. I've stopped watching the news 2 years ago becuase it only makes me feel sad and broken whenever i get to see casualty. I also deactivated my social media accounts months ago and it really hlped me to live my life mindfully. Recently, I started minimizing the time i spent conversing with people, I became selective of words that i utter and I only join group conversation in my work or anywhere whenever my words or ideas are needed. By doing all of these I've gained so much in terms of living my life peacefully. I've started living minimalist in 2018 and so far I have already declutterd all my material possessions. Now im more focus on mind decluttering and thankfully ive done what youve suggested on this video and it really helped a lot. Thnk you for all your videos I am fan and I always make surr to watch your videos because you are helping me so much. Wishing you all the best.💖💖💖
This is such an original content 👍👍 hats off. And I stopped watching news for almost 4-5 years now and feeling a lot peaceful, after all 99% of the news in current era is all violence and disturbing our thought flow and giving us an unwanted alert feeling. I love your videos, they are so genuinely you. looking forward to your not using social media video too.
I have lots of family living at home. So, I barley have a moment alone, to have peace. So I like to go to my room and read a book. My mother calls it being anti-social and lazy, while I call it, gathering my thought and taking a break! ,’) Thanks for this video! Helps me be assured that it’s okay to be like this!
I stopped watching the news too! People try to shame me for not being “well informed”, but as you said, I hear enough of it anyway and if there is something of importance to me, I can research it further. I’m happy with my decision and have no intention of changing this intention. It has brought me a whole new level of peace and I am grateful for it. ❤️
I totally agree with you on limiting the news and media sources. The news is so depressing and watching the people that govern us act like children, bullies to get what they want is very sad! I am less stressed by doing this, and as with you I hear about the things I need from my friends who watch the news. If more people would do this than the world I believe, will end up in a better way. Thank you for your videos, they are calming to me and provides me with hope and are calming. I’m kinda OCD as I am watching all your videos in order to catch up. I may have a question on something but in a different newer video you have answered it. That’s just me! Thanks again!
Thank you for another beautiful video! The biggest thing I’ve learned on my minimalism journey is how much my things have been draining me mentally. I can now recognize all the mental to do lists they cause. This has become my biggest motivation for continuing to reduce the number of items I own or should I say the number of items that own me.
Absolutely wonderful video. It's like you were reading my mind! I just realized, recently , that I'm spending too much time with my computer. So this video emphasized the need for me to cut back. As for the news....... stopped watching it about a year ago. I have alerts come to my phone if anything significant happens. The day to day chaos was causing me to be so depressed I had to stop. Thanks for all your insights and suggestions. I'm not sure if this is a question for your next video or a plea to others. I am an introvert and have a very happy life. I'm never lonely and have many interests. Why do others not understand this? They constantly try to make me feel like something is wrong with me. Always trying to fix me up on dates or pushing me to do things I don't feel comfortable with. They have hectic chaotic lives. I enjoy the quiet times with my Jack Russell terrier. It gets to the point that I avoid these people and that causes stress. I've explained that this is my choice of lifestyle but others don't think it's right.
I love the silence. Not only because of the feeling of tranquility that this habit gives me. But because it also allows me to give order and clarity to my thoughts. It's not always easy to find that peace in me. But when silence becomes present in my environment (consciously or unconsciously) I try to use it to the fullest.
Ironically.. I am going through a phase of silence. I give Glory to God for this direction. I have had time to think my own thoughts without others influence. My adrenals and thyroid needed healing and this is one way I am getting it done. I have a extremly busy home with soon to be nine children. Amazingly they are NOT what caused stress in me.. social media, news and negative family did. The silence is amazing! I’m working on minimalism. I’m so exhausted that I am listening to my body. I have no energy lately to do a ton of house work to declutter on mass scales. Instead of huge goals.. I am working on small areas. Small things will all add up. I loved this.
Nine years ago, after years lived in big cities, I made the decision to move to the sardinian countryside with my partner was born, in a very tiny village of roughly 2000 people and where silence is the norm. We'll, I never regretted that decision and I could never live anywhere else cos I wake up to the sound of birds and the nature around. It's healed my spirit & given me all the strength and peace I needed. I'm totally myself when alone and in silence. I reconnect with my higher self and feel one with the whole universe. Thanks for the video!
What a timely video! I too am a sensitive person who has been thinking about how the world and the things in our home have become intrusive to my peace. In the shower yesterday, I realized that I need some silence and today your beautiful video! Thank you!!!
I’ve had three piles of books sitting on my dining table for the last three months!! One pile is for books that I plan to read this year; the second pile is books I plan to re-read this year, and; the third pile is for books that have quotes that I want to put into my commonplace book. Your video comment that piles of things call for your attention and action made me smile.I have now removed these piles and placed them behind a closed door. So thank you for reminding me of the importance of having a calm clutter free minimalist environment. I loved the video smile 😊 xx
Love love love this video. Silence is so important in our increasingly noisy world. I am blessed to live near the mountains, and enjoy every moment I spend on the trails. I agree with you about the news. We are bombarded all the time. It used to be we would read the paper once a day, or watch the evening news. I am choosing to do this again so I am informed but not overwhelmed. Your content speaks to me, you are such a gentle soul 🙏.
Your videos are always incredibly beautiful and support what you're saying so effectively. While I love music and audio books, I also value silence. Slowing down and getting away from all the shouting online and from too many things in your environment are powerful ways to destress. Getting out in nature each day is a great way to relax. I love your videography and simple happy messages! Brava!
Thank you so much for your insightful video. I feel like you are a kindred spirit. Although I started quit late on this path of minimalism (just turned 58) I already feel much calmer when I see a room and not the clutter screaming at me. I have just discovered Alain de Botton of the School of Life and he helps me to enjoy the day as it is. I also cannot deal with sad and hyped-up news, but I can be more pragmatic about things, which comes with aging... Continue with your wonderful videos Vera. Liefs van een fellow-Nederlander abroad.
Amazing video as usual, Vera! Silence plays a huge part in my life. I love being in silence while having a cup of tea. I quit social midia almost a year ago and it was one of the best things I've ever done. I also don't follow the news, and it's good for me. I'm still in the process of minimalism, but the things I achieved so far were with your help. Thank you for all the advices! 💖😘😘😘
Totally agree on your opinion about news - same decision here. Big role in that decision played the fact that the news as well - just like social media - is curated and will never present the whole picture but only the news that have been selected for us to consume...
I absolutely love the phrase "visual silence". This is very profound for me! Words matter and I never liked the phrase "negative space" because of the word negative. My apartment has only ONE framed poster on the wall and all the other walls are empty...on purpose. Even though I love art and prints and posters, I find this really works for my minimalist lifestyle. But NOW I'm going to call what I do "visual silence" because it just sounds so much better! Thank you lovely!
What a great video! Moments of silence help me to refocus, refresh and come up with solutions. I feel more relaxed just watching and listening to this video. I’m going to go make some tea now!
I reflected on the way my family lives differently than just a few years. I gave up my smart phone for three years and after a move I got a smart phone again. I realized that without a easy accessibility to the world of the internet smart phone I was happier. It’s all too easy to “pacify” or distract oneself with smartphones taking away attention from those around you or the natural world. Thanks Vera for great content! 🌿🌸🙂
Highly relatable! During the minimalism journey of me and my friend, we ironically bought the Goodbye Things book. It has pretty much become our bible and we have created tons of space in our home, also finding the inner peace that comes with it! And hearing horrible news about the climate, dying plankton, desertification, mass extinction and all other disasters waiting to happen makes my heart die as well... how much can one non-billionaire / non-politician _really_ contribute to saving the planet?
Try to focus on the things you CAN do. For me personally, I try to focus on the positives, like being vegan, being a minimalist, not owning a car, being mindful with not producing so much waste, trying to help people, being kind to animals and people I meet etc. When everyone does their thing, it adds up :)
Oh Vera, I LOVED this. Just...everything that you have said here. I identify with all you have said. One comment I can especially relate to is, no longer watching the news/ reading the paper to me= less anxiety, sadness, less stress. I am also a highly sensitive person, and I'm no longer going to feel guilty for myself being this way. Less words are more, so in this case, all that I can say is: Well Done😊🤗🍵🍥 Hugs!!
What would be the problem of not following the news...there are a lot of people choosing to do so! Most of time including me . Keep on smiling to strangers Vera 😃 its always fun to see the reactions and get a smile back and have real connection for a moment. It can mean so much to people in a world full of noise and people not hear you. I am going to start prep for our dinner , just being focused on what I do at that moment. Almost silence inbetween the comforting sounds (and smells) of food being prepared and cooked ☺
That has to be the best video that I have ever watched and listened to! I am, totally on the same wavelength! I gave up watching the news and reading newspapers a while ago because it was all too upsetting. I shall now take your advise to reduce my use of social media. Thank you so much!
Thanks for posting such videos thank god i found you on youtube... i used to think i am mad to live such kind of minimalist life style, i want to leave minimum baggage when i live this earth....
WOW Vera this was an amazing video I agree with you we need more silence in our lives. I no longer watch the news either. There is a lot of things that are very upsetting and they are out of our control.💜
In silence we can connect to our core, listen to our inner voice, listen to ourselves more clearly and understand ourselves better. When we connect with ourselves we can then connect with others easily. I made the choice of not listening to the news about a year ago as well. The content we consume becomes what we think and speak. Beautiful video Vera, sending you lots of love 🥰💕
Thank you for your great vids/I’m trying to declutter my apartment before we move in a couple of months. I want to bring only what we use, want & make us happy/ Because of what's happening decluttering has been my therapy and thank you for always 😆 hitting right on the head.
Vera - I just discovered your channel and am going through the videos one by one. I've been on the minimalism journey for a few years now and I agree absolutely with this video about silence. Especially about the news. I am also a stoic, philosophically speaking and one of the foundations of that school of thought is not worry about what you cannot control. :-)
Another beautiful video that resonated with me. Thank you very much for your thoughtful content. To me silence has become a necessity and I'm trying to get a moment (or moments) of peaceful slow silence every day. There is nothing like starting the day this way. 🐱
Not only was this video visually beautiful, so was your message. I love silence. At home, in my home office, l have silence. Any noise distracts and my creativity shuts down or closes off. TY 🙏
I completely empathise with you on the subject of watching/reading the news; it's something I stopped doing a few years ago as well. Staying informed on all the political matters in the world has never added any value to my life. Sure, it may allow me to engage in conversations with others on these matters, but I find that these conversations only amplify the negativity I feel from reading about politics... Great video once again, Vera. Thank you!
Glad to see you Vera 😍🎉👍 First one to comment. Big Fan 😁✨😘

Fantastic video! Regarding the minimalism question. I realised by now that minimalism and decluttering is a continuous process. How do you stay motivated to keep going? I haven't watched the news for a long time. I've found the most important news always ends up finding you. 👍🏻
Yes that's my experience as well :) Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day!
Same here!
jvyeknom same
Amen!
jvyeknom 👏👏👏😊 so true!
I recently kicked Facebook and Instagram out of my smartphone. Best decision ever! Now I realize how addicted I was. It's scary.
Now I only use UA-cam but only for content which make me grow personaly or professionaly. Like your channel!😊
Thanks for including my channel to your list 😊🍃 Have a great day! 🤗

I didnt do that as i use for business 95% of the time. But, i don't buy magazines, newspapers or either i pay for cable. If i feel i need ipdated news. I watch here on yutube or as you correctly said. The news will find me😀🥰😗
YES 🙌🏽 🌟
I cherish my time alone in silence. I’ve discovered I’m not bad company 😊
Hahaha I love that 🤗
I also do...
👌
I find that my daily alone-time in peace with soft music or nothing and just enjoying the moment is very soothing. And necessary.
I don’t own a TV,, deleted FB about 4 years ago and deleted IG last month. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.
I've got 3 but I don't use them lol
Sorry UA-cam is the biggest of all😅!! We are addicted!@@abbz23
Keep sharing, we are happy to follow you 😍😘❤😊😊
hemant Kawalkar I deleted Facebook and it’s been wonderful. Being more intentional is amazing!
"We are 50,000 year old machines."
(Fumio Sasaki) my favorite quote.
We didn't evolve to be so overwhelmed by so much "stuff".
Exactly! :) Love that book haha
This is so beautiful, Vera. Silence can be life changing. Our lives are so chaotic and loud so much of the time. Giving ourselves much needed breaks in solitude can help salvage our sanity. Thank you for this work of art. 💚🦋🌿
Thank YOU for your beautiful comment :) Have a wonderful weekend
Simple Happy Zen ♥️😊
Nena Lavonne I AGREE with this!
kerry Irving ♥️♥️♥️😊
Exactly what I was thinking. Nicely said. 👌 The video is so artistically beautiful to watch and listen to. Very thought provoking. 🤔❤
Cooking and baking in silence is almost like meditation for me. That helps me to get calm after a busy day at work. 🧘🏼♀️
Yes so lovely! :D
I like cooking too in that way. Glad that are more people out there :)
I agree as well......it is so lovely. However, my husband watches TV morning and night. I have started wearing earplugs. I find it stresses me out.
Oooh! Ö I’ve been wanting to learn how to cook and bake! :D Not sure what mother will think though... I’m banned from using the stove and I somehow keep burning things in the microwave!
@@thisisepic3052 Just try! You will get better!
Isidora Kesić ♥️🦋
Lovely name ❤
I also made a decision a couple of years ago to not watch the news and I’m much happier in my life. I decided to concentrate on being kind and helpful and doing the good that I saw that needed to be done. I’m tired of listening to media opinions on life and how it needs to be lived. No one knows what’s best for me....only I can know that. So quiet times in my life have become very important to me. Thank you for sharing....you have a fan who believes as you do and I’m not even a minimalist!
Thank you Myrna and I wish you all the best! I think it's great that you've chosen to focus on the positives and on the things you can do to help
Myrna Renoud I AGREE!!that nobody knows what's best for a person only theirselves know
Myrna, I agree with all you have said here. We surely are more at peace.
I love it :) Also recently re-introduced quiet meditation time into my mornings and it's making such a big difference :)
@@SimpleHappyZen yes it does. I love sipping my coffee or tea and listen to the sounds of the morning. Makes me feel like I can do anything that day
🍵💕💕💕
thea nicolaides I’m the same way!
I find that knitting in silence allows me to meditate on whatever.
Yes that's wonderful :)
I do that often actually... Sometimes not on purpose. Sometimes the music stopped and I didn't even noticed 🤷🏻♀️ I'm just there present with my knitting.
Another wonderful video, Vera!! Thank you so much!
I absolutely resonate with all you share.
🤗🌺
I also stopped watching the news a few years ago, for very similar reasons. Silence is one of the best things about my morning walk with my dog.
I love it, give your dog a hug from me! :)
Exactly. 🐱
Silence is my favorite way of starting the day.
So grateful that I found your channel. Very informative and thought provoking. Beautiful scenery!Your kindness gives me hope.
Thanks so much to both of you! :D
Really vry nice video, soothing and informative. Thanks Vera
Thanks so much Shilpa :) So glad to hear it. Have a happy Monday!
Hi Vera, another fabulous video, thank you! This video really resonated with me. I never buy a newspaper and try to avoid the news. I am deeply affected by stories of animal cruelty and those things upset me so much and live with me for months.
Glad you liked the video :) And yes same for me, take good care!
DazzleDust32 I'm the same this things from the news affecting me for months!! I REALLY though I'd be the only one for it having this much of an affect or impact!!
@@kerryirving2949, it's nice to know that we're not alone in feeling like this isn't it? x
DazzleDust32 yes! ❤️
DazzleDust32 that’s how I am about people mistreating their children.. I can’t handle those stories. (Well all life being mistreated is horrible even animals) so I am also focusing on the good and praying for God to help with those innocent.
I truly enjoyed this year end compilation. Thank you and wishes for a peaceful 2021.
Absolutely loved reading your comment Conrad, thanks so much for sharing and have a great day!! Give a hug to your dog from me
Conrad Garan I LOVE & AGREE with this!!
Thank you for this channel. I am 68 yr young and I am so impressed with your advice and wisdom. I am also a sensitive person and your advice is much appreciated. God bless you. NY USA
Thanks so much Patricia :) Have a lovely day!
Instead of fomo (fear of missing out) we should enjoy more as in jomo = joy of missing out 😊
I also try to limit my screentime and news, I stopped watching a long time ago 😌 It feels like it’s drowning me, like you say.. I rather try to do better 🙂 I seek silence sometimes and it feels good to meditate in these moments 🙌🏼
Thanks for sharing and yes, I love JOMO! :D
Thanks so much for your kind comment :) Have a great day!
🤗💕
Thanks Vera - your best video ever! Immediately prior to watching this video I was watching a TED talk by Rolf Dobelli who also talks about how overconsumption of the news doesn’t developed your knowledge of current affairs, but saturates the mind.
Thank you once again for this excellent video!!!
Kind regards
Damien
Thanks for your wonderful compliment Damien! And also thanks for sharing the TED talk with the rest of us :)
I'm very happy you got your peace and quiet back :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about silence Ngoni and I'm happy to hear you're doing better! Take good care 🤗🌻
@@SimpleHappyZen thank you Vera!😊
Superb footage with beautiful
wording.
YEA!
The music and narrator's voice is very calming and relaxing to listen to. Thank you for this.
“Mindless scrolling is the new smoking “ omg that’s so true!!!
Happy Zen, loved this video which has given me further awareness of both silence and minimalism both of which I’m integrating more and more into my life.
You have a lovely presence !
Thank you! :)
Totally agree with you about the news. I stopped watching and reading it 10 years ago yet I still get everything I need to know some how
Yes the most important news does find its way to us haha
Yes to no social media it's exactly the opposite of 'silence' - too much 'noise'. I also find it funny that people spend so much time scrolling on 'past' moments totally robbing the 'present' moment. I only view UA-cam and with intentions of learning or inspiration. No other media even TV since 2017. I have never had so much peace and pure happiness! Thank you for sharing this!!!! Been on a mission with minimalism now and love to find tips for the home and others way to declutter. x0x0
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Renee, loved your comment! :D
Thank you for sharing about cutting out news/social media. I have over the years taken a break from news as it is too depressing and difficult for me to handle. Now I understand my reasoning and will continue to do so with even less guilt.
You're very welcome :) Happy to hear that cutting out news and social media is helpful for you :)
Thank you for sharing this valuable insight of silence, I agreed with you👍🏻
You're very welcome, have a great day!
Silence can be bliss. Sometimes I can't stand noise around me and other times, I love hearing life around me.
This video made me stop doing what I was at the moment and focus just on it. Very beautifully done! Thank you.
I will invite silence into my life again, as scary as it can be. It might become my good friend.
Wow thanks Isidora! Glad you enjoyed it :) Good luck with inviting more silence into your life 🌷
Isidora Kesić I done the SAME!!
Wow thanks so much!! 🤗🌷🌻 Have a happy Monday!
I am inviting silence tonight. Thank you Vera that I have your channel to go back to in times like this that I need silence. Much ❤️
🤗💕
Love this Chanel. She is great. Lots of good & helpful information.
Thank you so mcuh for your kind words :)
You are very sweet, full of wisdom, O enlightened one 🙏
Thank you so much! :)
Thanks for sharing your story and so glad to hear my videos are helping you! :) Take care
Thanks so much for your kind comment Ramalakshmi 🤗🌻
I have lots of family living at home. So, I barley have a moment alone, to have peace. So I like to go to my room and read a book. My mother calls it being anti-social and lazy, while I call it, gathering my thought and taking a break! ,’) Thanks for this video! Helps me be assured that it’s okay to be like this!
I often drive my car in silence, I love having quietness around me
Yes it's nice that quiet time :) I don't drive but I can definitely see how it would be relaxing
I like to do the same!! 🥰
Yeah! :) I don’t drive, but I like it when the car has no loud music playing! ,’) Everything is muffled and it all seems so peaceful.
Love it :)
I love silence. Keeps me calm, centred and not anxious.
Me too :)
I agreed with ALLLLLL of this! Thank you for putting this out in the world.
Hahaha so glad to hear it, you're very welcome! :)
Thanks Ronda, glad you enjoyed the video, loved your comment!
Thanks Patty for sharing your thoughts and your question for the Q&A, it seems more people who are introverts struggle with this
I love the silence. Not only because of the feeling of tranquility that this habit gives me. But because it also allows me to give order and clarity to my thoughts. It's not always easy to find that peace in me. But when silence becomes present in my environment (consciously or unconsciously) I try to use it to the fullest.
I love it, thanks for sharing!
Hazlo Solo SAME!!
Sounds wonderful 🤗🌷🌻
i wish it were winter again, the snow where you are is so beautiful and peaceful
What a timely video! I too am a sensitive person who has been thinking about how the world and the things in our home have become intrusive to my peace. In the shower yesterday, I realized that I need some silence and today your beautiful video! Thank you!!!
You're very welcome Janet, so glad you enjoyed it :) Wishing you a calm and peaceful rest of your day :)
This is a very good perspective about being minimalist and having more quiet space in life. Thank you for your encouragement.
You're very welcome Marina, have a great weekend! 🤗🌱
Beautiful and insightful video
Thanks so much Amrita :) Have a nice day!
Thanks so much for your kind comment Sally :)
Brava!
Thank you so much 😍
Fijne maandag!
I also stop watching the news for the same reason you stopped watching it! And it is so much better for me. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Aw thank you so much Paula, that's so nice to hear :) good luck with everything!!!
Totally agree on your opinion about news - same decision here. Big role in that decision played the fact that the news as well - just like social media - is curated and will never present the whole picture but only the news that have been selected for us to consume...
Very true...
So glad that was helpful for you! :D Yes I know exactly what you mean with the phrase negative space.
Hahaha, I rotate a few pictures on the same wall space... preferring to keep negative space zndvonly showing one at a time
What a great video! Moments of silence help me to refocus, refresh and come up with solutions. I feel more relaxed just watching and listening to this video. I’m going to go make some tea now!
I love it 😍💕 Thanks and I hope you enjoyed your tea break
Simple Happy Zen i did!,thanks😀
I 100% agree with you about the news. It’s so depressing and tends to drag me down so I try not to watch or read.
This video is absolutely something I needed. Loved it, so beautiful and inspiring! Thank you!😊
So glad to hear it :) Wishing you a nice and calm rest of your day!
@@SimpleHappyZen It does, thank you
Oh Vera, I LOVED this. Just...everything that you have said here. I identify with all you have said. One comment I can especially relate to is, no longer watching the news/ reading the paper to me= less anxiety, sadness, less stress. I am also a highly sensitive person, and I'm no longer going to feel guilty for myself being this way.
Less words are more, so in this case, all that I can say is:
Well Done😊🤗🍵🍥
Hugs!!
I love it Chantal! I'm going to start dinner in an hour as well. Eetze! :D
jij ook alvast !
That has to be the best video that I have ever watched and listened to! I am, totally on the same wavelength! I gave up watching the news and reading newspapers a while ago because it was all too upsetting. I shall now take your advise to reduce my use of social media. Thank you so much!
Wow thanks for the amazing compliment :) Take care and have a great day!
This concept is so important. ✨
Thanks for posting such videos thank god i found you on youtube... i used to think i am mad to live such kind of minimalist life style, i want to leave minimum baggage when i live this earth....
Yes it is nice to have a time of silence to think what is more important and connect to God😊
This video is good God bless.
WOW Vera this was an amazing video I agree with you we need more silence in our lives. I no longer watch the news either. There is a lot of things that are very upsetting and they are out of our control.💜
Yay, so glad to hear it Cathy 🤗🌷 Take care!
Yes, amazing! :)
Thank you for your great vids/I’m trying to declutter my apartment before we move in a couple of months. I want to bring only what we use, want & make us happy/ Because of what's happening decluttering has been my therapy and thank you for always 😆 hitting right on the head.
Good luck with decluttering and with the move!! :)
Thanks for sharing Anthony :) and welcome to the channel!! Have a happy Wednesday
Another beautiful video that resonated with me.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful content.
To me silence has become a necessity and I'm trying to get a moment (or moments) of peaceful slow silence every day.
There is nothing like starting the day this way. 🐱
Lovely :) Thank you Elisa, take care!
@@SimpleHappyZen Thank you. You too.
Superb way of living
Every human living on this earth, must watch your video. A part of bible ❤. Thank you so much 🙏
Not only was this video visually beautiful, so was your message. I love silence. At home, in my home office, l have silence. Any noise distracts and my creativity shuts down or closes off. TY 🙏
Thank you so much Joan 😄👊🏻
I completely empathise with you on the subject of watching/reading the news; it's something I stopped doing a few years ago as well. Staying informed on all the political matters in the world has never added any value to my life. Sure, it may allow me to engage in conversations with others on these matters, but I find that these conversations only amplify the negativity I feel from reading about politics... Great video once again, Vera. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with it, I can definitely relate :)
Jakub same!!
