    NCAAW basketball is not in good shape, it's in great shape. Three of the 5 best players in the country are sophomores and a freshman. Juju, Hannah, and Sarah.

      That you know of. There's other great players who are freshman/sophomores that you've never heard of because the media simply doesn't cover the sport or teams like it should.

      @@ad7711x The one thing you should understand about American capitalism is that there is so much money make off college athletes that you can best believe that scouts, coaches, media, fans, etc. have their ears and eyes open for the best talent in the world. Conversely, the athletes themselves are looking for the best opportunities and most understand that certain schools and/or coaches give them a better chance of becoming rich and famous. It's really hard to believe that talent at the level of Juju, Hannah, and Sarah was not noticed and recruited at the high school level. Moreover, every level of college basketball records players stats. If this player(s) is out there, I would think their stats would reveal them.

I'm asking about your education because if you've attended university, you'd know that if you are going to challenge my statements then you should do so with *_FACTS_* to disprove me. Next, please tell me what I said that is so inaccurate? And are you really suggesting that there are players in college basketball as good as Juju Watkins that coaches, scouts, fans, etc. aren't talking about and trying to recruit just because the media isn't covering them? If there was a player that good, then we don't need to media...people would be posting their highlights on UA-cam and other social media outlets. That person would be going viral----without the media. The media covers the players that are recruited by colleges--not the other way around--as you seem to be suggesting. For example, 15 year old Kaleena Smith is considered the best high school guard in the country. She's been playing boys AAU since she was 8 years old. The media hasn't start covering her yet. But there are about 10k videos on UA-cam and elsewhere online showing her games, practices, tournaments, etc. Dawn Staley has been attending her games since she was 10 years old. She has offers already from every major D1 in the country. Again, no media coverage yet. Regular people are posting her all over the internet. People that really follow women's basketball know about Kaleena....even though the media doesn't cover her yet.

      Paige can play wherever Geno wants her, but Sarah Strong is the backbone of this years team.

    • @jsteyz
      @jsteyz 8 днів тому

      I wanted to come back to this because I think it's a very valid question. I see Paige as the type of player that elevates those around her, but doesn't have as much desire/ability to do it all- which very few do, it's a team game for a reason! I see her as more of a Swiss army knife than a "one woman band" if that makes sense, she can do a lot of things extremely well but can't do it all, all of the time. I think she will thrive with elite talent around her, no shade to UConns roster but the level of consistency hasn't been there due to the pervasive injury issues. I think of how Chelsea Gray is widely considered an elite point guard but doesn't put up absurd stats in any one category, but more the balance, efficiency, and consistency she provides is recognized as crucial for top teams. Thanks for tuning in!

    • @mariettedorobis6967
      @mariettedorobis6967 7 днів тому

      @@jsteyz thank you for the explanation! I have heard this said a lot about Paige and UConn this year and have always wondered what people have meant. What you said makes a lot of sense, however, I guess this might be an issue with the discourse around her in general more than you guys specifically, but I feel like Paige is absolutely talked about like a superstar, a player that is going to be drafted to change a franchise. As we have often seen with top picks, you are often not playing with elite talent right away (by W standards - of course everyone in the W is talented, but there’s a reason teams that get the #1 pick get them). So if Paige needs the best of the best around her, I wonder if she is actually that type of player she’s advertised as. I understand UConn has a lot of injuries, but they’re still UConn. She’s playing with multiple other #1 recruits, and everyone is at least a top 10 recruit, AND they obviously have the coaching staff that they do. I feel like that is arguably a better situation than you walk into as a #1 pick, by college standards. I just feel like Geno/W analysts have always told us that Paige is so versatile, that she’s superior to someone like Caitlin for this reason, but to me if you need the best of the best around you to succeed, that makes me question your level of versatility

    • @jsteyz
      @jsteyz 7 днів тому

      @mariettedorobis6967 continuing to go under the assumption she is the #1 pick, which i will until I hear/see any indications otherwise, there's huge talent in Dallas- good post players, which has certainly been a massive issue with UConn, as well as perimeter threats like Arike and likely the versatility of Satou. I'm not here to compare players generally, and any Paige vs. CC debate is primarily to stir up drama and discourse if you ask me BUT I do have full confidence Paige will be successful at the next level, produce at a high level consistently, but there's a wide range of what that means.

    • @mariettedorobis6967
      @mariettedorobis6967 6 днів тому

      @@jsteyz There is definitely more talent in Dallas than at UConn, as is the case with any pro team vs a college team (except maybe South Carolina, haha), but her competition is also going to be a lot tougher than what she's seeing now in the Big East. To bring up Caitlin again (not to compare them, as I agree comparisons are mainly just used to stir up drama on either side, and I think Caitlin''s college career was so uniquely dominant it doesnt really make sense to compare anyone to her, but just as an example), this was the discourse around her, that she would struggle in the league because while she was killing it in college, the competition level was going to be higher in the W. So even though she also was going to be playing with more talent, like Aliyah and Kelsey, there was also going to be more talent on other teams. And Caitlin isn't the only player this has been said about, it has sort of been the adage about rookies but doesn't seem to be with Paige, folks seem to assume she'll perform at a high level right away, and I do wonder why that is. Is it something about Paige in particular, or did the success of last year's rookie class wake people up to the fact that you can come into the league and pretty quickly become an impact player? I do see your point that there's a wide variety of what that means, she could have a Kelsey Plum #1 pick trajectory, which is certainly nothing to scoff at, but is a bit different than a Stewie/A'ja #1 pick trajectory.
