I make these for steelhead in the pnw on sz4 stingers. TIP: after you tie in one bump give the combo a twist and you’ll rotate the colors down each side. I find the appearance appealing, but most importantly the fish sees the same thing from ever angle.

No, it soaks up water. Eggs don't float so not really an issue.
