3:39:00 the thing about bond stories and side quests is they vary wildly between throwaway fun filler and important world building or character development. Like everything to do with Modernia/Marian is important to her character development I can't imagine just "skipping" any of it in an anime.
Mmmm, I don't remember if I specifically said to skip hers or not. Off the top of my head my take is just that they shouldn't do too many of them. Rapi & Anis' ? Absolutely. But including Modernia's comes down to how long the series is. My primary concern is pacing. As much as people would want this & this & that shown in season 1, game to anime adaptation's biggest problem is trying to fit too much in the episodes given. If it's a 12 episode anime, trying to fit Modernia's bond would probably be too much honestly. Ending around her rejoining Counters is honestly a really good cliffhanger. I find Modernia's bond important yes but it just depends on when they do it not really "if" they do it.
After you beat chapter 14, play the second affection side story, then the last kingdom event, they continue Marian's story, and there's a HUGE SURPRISE for you on the last kingdom hard mode ending
Of all the 34+ chapters this is one of the highest points in the story I love seeing people freak out at Rapi’s hidden powers! Back when this first happened we didn’t even have a Red Hood model so there was a lot of mystery around this Red Hood entity. Also when Ingrid says Rapi’s “getting younger” it’s just a Korean translation issue for “the weight you’re bearing” turning the ark upside down. I forgot if the Marian’s side story Second Affection that takes place after ch14 was done here? I highly recommend it, very fun little piece of story that connects the main story to Last Kingdom.
FUN FACT: Rapi's Secret Body is foreshadowed in the earlier chapter where you meet Alice and Ludmilla. Come to think of it in that chapter there are many things that Alice say that does not make any sense and only can be realize when going thru the future chapter.
So, as for the first 30 chapters being prologue (I'd heard it was first 40 actually) and releasing a game that would take 2-3 years to even get to main story, I THINK they intended to release chapters faster originally. However, the game was a HUGE success, and one of the BIG pieces of feedback that got from Survey after Survey was that we wanted more fully voiced content. So I think they shifted to releasing content slower, but better quality, and since the fan base was ok with that, we have the game we have now. We may not get A LOT of new chapters each year, but we get GOOD chapters, and also more of the big side events are voiced now (The original Christmas event was NOT voiced, but they went back and added voices for it when the 2nd Christmas event hit) so most of the fanbase is pretty happy with how things have turned out.
That would make sense - like I just find it a huge gamble/hard to believe they MEANT to take this long to get through "prologue" at launch (again you can hope it does well but there's no guarantee of it). Them switching the game plan AFTER launch AFTER the success came pouring in is a lot more believable from a game production perspective. Obviously, it's great it worked out the way it did but it's apparent adjustments definitely were made along the way.
@@vidianottIt's also interesting that Destiny Child, a former gacha game made by Shift Up, also had a similar story plan for the prologue I believe. Though it never reached fruition due to various limitations and being too generous from what I hear. But speaking of Destiny Child, I suspect that unselectable shower in the commander's room had a considered function given how something worked in that game...

About hitting the deer thing. The wildest thing I heard when I was in driving school for motorcycles, the instructor said that in Germany, the initial advice when encountering a deer with a motorcycle is to accelerate and aim for the center of the deer because with enough speed it's possible to split it in half. Though he doesn't recommend doing that and instead just try to tip your motorcycle over and slide under it 💀
I think mythbusters tested hitting a deer, nah that deer would make a crater and go through the windshield. It does depend on the speed in a car. Now a moose is a literal tank, ya ain't running over a moose.
Glad you finally got to see the Red Hood reveal. They've been hinting at it since the tutorial. If you recall right before you were going to fight the Black Smith in the tutorial, Anis wanted to run but Rapi wanted to fight to save Marian. Anis asks Rapi "Have you found it?" and Rapi says "I'm not sure". The "it" in Anis' question refers to the way to activate Red Hood.
I switched over to your twitch vods just so I could see this part before it came to UA-cam. Appropriate response to all the crazy jazz that happens in these chapters. Now I can't wait for you to do the Kingdom event for more Modernia, more tears to come for sure 😊
I got Modernia right after chapter 13, literally 5 minutes after we were given her according to the plot. And then I got her 3 more times while I was going through chapter 14 :)
What's funny is something similar happened to me. I had finished that section and I was telling a friend "man I wish Marian was playable" Proceeded to get 2 copies of modernia back to back

Especially all the Pilgrim voices, which I hate the most (watching Old Tales bleeds my ears). Sadly, all the streamers are playing with the English voice, which makes me unable to watch full vods because I'm gonna skip parts a lot. I have already reported this topic to the devs after I watched the whole Vidia's playlist yesterday, hope they'll improve. 😂
While I don't mind most of the voice acting itself, the translation quality for english are kinda weird sometimes. For example at 51:42 Eunhwa was saying "What are you doing here?" in english, which is really bizzare and doesn't match the context. I haven't check what she said in Korean but in Japanese she said "Kita ka?" Which roughly translates to "They finally arrived?", a proper response to the situation. This is just one example of many But as you can see, it's nothing compared to the Ingrid part that are left unfinished. Calling the commander as protagonist or sometimes skipping the call when it can be simplified by referring to the commander as "You" or they/them instead. Furthermore, she also skip calling the unit name Counters sometimes. In this case, they should be re-recording the line
I still remember Marian's "no" and "yes, I am" in the first chapter lol. All the English subs and dubs are weird in this game. I'm not sure how they are working on this. Luckily, I can understand Japanese, and the subtitles in my language match with the context, even though it doesn't match the Japanese dub (the Japanese VA speaks a whole paragraph while my subtitle shows "..." 😂). But yeah, they have to make a big change to English translation.
This seems to be a problem with Shift Up overall. I finished and thoroughly enjoyed Stellar Blade but the English acting also has some spotty translation, lack of emotion, and generally falls flat outside of a few moments. This is the one area Shift Up needs to step it up a bit, especially since they are doing so well in all other areas (art, music, story, character design, etc).
I've aways hated Neon and this story event made me hate her more Why the *F* are you holding Anis back for?! WTF?! Was that supposed to be some heartbreak dramatic moment or something?! Marian was literally taken from us AGAIN and you're holding Anis back from being angry and smashing Chatterbox?! WHY?! IT made NO sense and pissed me off so much. So freaking unneeded

She probably didn't want her to get too caught up in her rage & forget the other important major issues at hand - the fact that the Commander was stabbed & probably bleeding out at the same time while Rapi is suffering the side effects of unleashing Red Hood... It was one of those moments of "yes this sucks but we're still in the middle of a battlefield and there are multiple bad things happening so we need to calm down and handle all of them"
