    Not a huge problem, but get into the habit of using splitters directly outside your high yield unit's ouputs. When you put multiple Miners or Smelters directly on the line, you will eventually run into a problem where the ones further down the line cannot output due to the saturation of the belt. Upgrading the belt CAN help, but it is even better to simply put splitters on the main line and have the output of the machine going to the splitter. When you are directly on the line, the line has priority over your inserters. So if there is a saturation, that minor will be sitting there doing nothing until a space opens up. But if you go directly into a splitter on the line, each line coming into and out of are done in a more round robin style. You will still have the "stutter" of a saturated line, but each miner will be producing and therefore not useless. And when you upgrade the line, it will be even better. And be very cautious of the spacing of your lines. You should only put them side by side if you are using the long inserters or if you are running them a long distance. As you will need to have space on either side to run lines off of them as the splitters and elevators require space to the side in order to operate.

    If you don't want to dig into the spots around the Ore Veins, you can always build a 2nd Floor for more mining drills and have conveyer belts running down to 1st Floor smelters. It looks cleaner than having drills circling the ore.

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Рік тому +2

      Everyone has their own preferences and that's what makes these types of game good. Your factory doesn't look like mine, and that's cool. I don't like the way the belts deal with height in this game so far, so I prefer to sprawl out rather then built up, but that's just my preference overall.

    • @Deilwynna
      @Deilwynna Рік тому

      to make best use of a vein, you mine out all "soft" rock around the vein and place several floors of miners around it, that way even the small veins, like the iron vein nearest terminal victor, will produce a substantial amount of ore

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Рік тому

      @@Deilwynna true. The thing is, I’ve played this game to the end right now and you really don’t need that many miners to complete it. So it depends on your goals. If you want to just finish the game vs build the biggest factory.

      Little bit of both. I played the entire game already so I know what to expect. Also I have experience from other games like Factorio/Satisfactory and it does help keeping things a little bit more clean.

    Hey there, this was a really useful video. I've been struggling with a cloggy factory setup near Victor and I think it's because I didn't utilize the starter veins efficiently like you have demonstrated here. I do have a question at 8:10 -- I see you set the floor above the water -- does this make water wheels harder to utilize later on? Also, does this limit the size the core composer can reach from "floor to ceiling"? TIA 🙏 Subscribed! 😎

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Рік тому +1

      Actually the water wheels will fit underneath if we choose to do it that way, which is what I did in my first playthrough. But in this one I’ll be doing something a tad different. The core composer will eventually hit the ceiling yes, but honestly later on you can make more headroom, or place more core composers, or go somewhere else entirely.

    I am sorry but I have to disagree with you, handcrafting doesn't help speed up your progression, infact it's extremely inefficient. I believe if you automate the production of powerfloors you need half the resources plus it makes it lots faster. Besides that it will free up the queue so you can still quickly handcraft items that you don't need as much. OK I see you automate them a bit later, but this would be among the first things I would automate. That is when I get access to the assembler.

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Рік тому

      It’s the first thing I automate in the video because they are important.

    • @radiomanjk
      @radiomanjk Рік тому

      I disagree here, it's true that this is the first thing he automates but he was still handcrafting lots of those when you could get a bunch for free after he unlocked automatic crafting, which wasn't very efficient at the time, but ok maybe I should have watched the whole video before commenting as I may have been a bit too soon to comment here.
