Jagannath Rath Yatra is celebrated in honor of Lord Jagannath, a deity worshipped in Hinduism. The festival is one of the most important and grand festivals in the state of Odisha, particularly in the city of Puri. The term "Rath Yatra" translates to "Chariot Festival."
The festival is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, who is considered a form of Lord Vishnu or Krishna, along with his siblings, Lord Balabhadra (Balarama) and Goddess Subhadra.
The tradition of the Rath Yatra dates back centuries and is rooted in the religious texts and practices of the region. It is believed that by participating in the Rath Yatra or even witnessing it, devotees earn spiritual merit and blessings from the deities.
