the fact wednesday after 18 games on the 1st of december had 1 win, 12 points from safety, and stayed up somewhat comfortably on that final day is baffling, some video
Comfortable you say, yes we only need 1 point from the last game but was still nervy. After last year score 96 point and not getting automatic promotion and the 4 nil comeback in the playoffs nothing is comfortable . great video
@@adhowie somewhat is an additional part of that, given that they ultimately didn't really look like losing at sunderland - different meaning to "the wednesday way" after all these years though
Sheffield Wednesday who stayed in relegation zone for more than 8 months from match day 2 to match day 44 and somehow managed to survive is truly insane... 😮
As an Ipswich fan - looking back - it was my birthday March 9th and we were winning 1-0 against Cardiff 93rd minute. I went to queue up for a slide at Centre Parcs and when I picked up my phone we lost 2-1. If we won that match - we would have been champions! With that said - I’m so proud of this season!
Having been at that game; we knew Cardiff were a threat from set pieces, they were all over us after our goal and it was only going one way. We then gave them the corners to confirm it. They've hit other teams similarly too. The foul on Morsy then the offside for the first two goals at Preston though...
@@derekfrost8991 The recent investment announcement was exactly the allowed P&S (FFP) losses for 3 years, so the money is def there and signs are we're gonna make a good go of it. @@JasonCliftJones now we're PL I think Kieran and our good players have reason to stay. I'm not worried, but imagine we were in the playoffs then lost. We would lose him for sure.. 🙂
I don't think we will struggle that much if we retain some of our players just a shame that players like assignon and esteve are on loan because they probably won't come back
As I West Ham fan, I’m excited to see my team go up then down then go up then go down then stay up in 6th then fall down to what I assume will end up being 9th.
Ipswich fan here. Anyone who says we were lucky has not been paying attention. We were not out of the top 4 the whole season and were in the top 2 for most of it. We are premier league 🚜💙
Avoided the bottom 3 all season and we got our reward…..survival 💚 a very up and down season, mainly down but we did what we aimed to do from the beginning, which was staying in this league and here’s to even better next season and learn from everything we did this season (I hope)! Leicester fan here. Losing 11 games in the championship (1 against a struggling side who had just come up from league 1) is unacceptable. I thought they would play like Burnley last season and destroy everyone.
As a Leicester fan, I agree that it's unacceptable to lose that many games but I feel it happened more of because of mentality and not quality. Watching them play some of those games (for me the worst one was Millwall), it felt as if there was no drive, like they'd just show up, do some back passes, and win the game. I doubt we'll have a point in the prem where we're the best team in the league (although wouldn't mind it) so I'd think (hope) we should stay up.
It's crazy how many matches on that final day affected both ends of the table... Leicester vs Blackburn Plymouth vs Hull Birmingham City vs Norwich Ipswich vs Huddersfield Ok, now that I realise it's only 4 matches, that's slightly less crazy, but that's still 25% of the fixtures that occurred on the final day...
It sounds like an old cliche but the play offs are a lottery. Leeds haven’t had a good record in them though. I remember my team beating Leeds in the final in Cardiff 2006 😊 3-0.
The fact that Man United almost lost to a Championship team above mid table is horribly embarrassing, As a Man United fan, I hate the current Man United situation. That would have been a David Goliath situation if United lost.
As a Plymouth fan, Birmingham almost made me had a hearth attack (THANK YOU HULL CITY!!!). Fortunately, Plymouth survived, and now the thing to do is trying to forget what we did this season and try to do better next season. 💚🤍
Being a Birmingham City fan must be tough. Sacking John eustace after he had them in the playoffs all for a publicity stunt with Rooney who won 3 games I think. That really shattered any team spirit they had and also switching tactics from something that worked is stupid. Good luck next season though Birmingham
Why Birmingham City sacked John Eustace? 5 of their 13 wins were under his management! And they finished relegated at the end... (I'm French, sorry if this question ha already been asked)

The thing that is important isn't how it starts, its how it ends. Shefield Wednesday, 2023/24...
Even finishing above Plymouth who didn't spend a day in the relegation zone.
Probably the best season this league's had in a long time

It's very sad 😢 we were consistently in a play off position up until we sacked mowbrey after that the club went into Shambles

How Wayne Rooney turned a side who was 6th place to relegation was crazy. It was like their goal under him was "relegation"
