USA never considers the long term effect of their operations in the region, especially when the countries in the region will have to deal with the mess. How do we expect to find a peaceful region when you weaponize certain groups just because they are opponents to Esad's regime or some other group in other times. You are throwing weapons to Kurdish groups in the northern Syria, ignoring the fact that they are using short term agendas of USA in the region to weaponize themselves in a direction to a separate state-like entity. I am not fond of the current Turkish government; but i can agree to the fact that the foreign powers in the region who choose to ignore the local dynamics is the leading reason why savage radical groups like ISIS can even form in empty space, surprisingly fast. As a Turkish citizen we will see the effect of USA weaponizing dissident groups of Syria , in terms of bomb explosions of various terrorist groups in Turkey and armed raids of PKK terrorists into Turkish lands. I am also sure that the ambitious government in Turkey is also guilty in some parts of these atrocious events in the region. For years, political islamists considered the policy of past secular Turkish state in the region as "passive"; now they are in the government. However, the current turkish state (which is now controlled by political islamists) "finally" understands that impulsive militaristic approaches do not work in the long term for this region. We all know that the only solution for a peaceful middle east region is to improve education, analytical thinking, encouraging secular states, discouraging duplicitous religious political movements whose agenda is to recruit people in the name of religion for their self beneficial objectives; however history shows that non of these "developed" countries dare to have an enlightened society which will not fall to the act of religion being used a weapon to control masses. On the other hand, these "developed" countries support Arab "petrol autocrats" to the detriment of developing values like democracy, science, analytical thinking, secularism in these countries.
