As a Canadian, this tugs at my heart😢
My Mother was friends with a young Canadian who visited relatives in Scotland when on leave he sadly died at Monte Cassino Thank-you you Canada for helping us defeat Hitler Canada looka a most beautiful country
Really enjoying your content.Greetings from Prince Edward Island,Canada.Have fun and stay safe.Terry.
Glad you're enjoying our videos! Thanks so much for watching from across the pond 😀
Thank you for sharing your adventure. You filmed the crash site and memorial very sensitively and it is clear how you always prioritise Winston’s health and wellbeing.
Glad you likes the video. Winston is always my number 1 🌟
Thanks for watching and commenting.
My late father was a Bomber Pilot in WW2 he took part of his training in Canada he flew Lancaster Bombers never spoke about his time then All these brave Canadians and British young men many who never flew back home
It's heartbreaking to hear of the lives lost. We must keep remembering them. ❤️
Thanks so much for watching 👍🏼
Better than an office with no window.
I love Winston. He is such a happy handsome boy and you give him so much care and love. Really like your videos you just get on with the day no matter what the weather. Thank you and look forward to seeing the next one
I love the feeling when I get back from a wet and cold walk, and I've just had a shower and put on some warm dry clothes and I'm about to eat some hot food. That's a great feeling and makes the walk worthwhile.
Happy to hear you enjoy our videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I dont think you should worry about what we think about how you look after winston. Your taking care of him. Xx lovely walk horrible weather! Looking forward too many more of uour vlogs xx
Thank you so much. I do try my best to do what right for him. 🐶
Thanks you for watching and commenting.
Some days are harder than others but we conquer them. You care for Winston is so wonderful ❤️.... Jess (also adopted from CAESSR) sends big woofs to you both 💛. Keep warm and safe 🎉
Thanks so much. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Give extra scratches to Jess from us.
Really enjoyed the Winston show this week really relaxing, looking forward to the next one thanks for sharing 👍
We were with you getting cold and wet remembering horizontal rain on our walk once on the moors, all day. Even our dog was struggling with weather. Today tho snug indoors but with you in spirit so to speak. It was great going along even without Winston. It certainly was kind and caring to remember he is an older dog and leave him snug and warm . Thank you so much for posting video, we very much enjoyed❤
The weather was horrible that day and I think Winston preferred the extra morning snoozes. 🐶
Very glad to hear that you enjoyed our video. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Further to my earlier note, that I hope reached you, I looked through my Dad's WW2 RCAF Bomber Command logbook. He was a Mid-Upper gunner on Lancaster's. But trained in Wellingtons, as well.
In it he notes, while training at No. 28 Operational Training Unit, RAF Wymeswold - MAY 10/1944 - "SOLO "X" Country. 17,000 Ft. "Crashed in Wales" in a Wellington.
The crew all walked away.
And again, in a Lancaster June 23rd of that year, on take-off. Again they all came out unscathed.... SEEING that crash site in your vlog made that experience VERY REAL to me. Profound thanks for sharing...
Im glad you left Winston at home for this one ❤
I think he preferred to stay warm and dry in bed. Plus, he loves his morning naps 🐶
Love your videos. Totally agree concerning Winston in the Pod. I travel solo in a van with 3 dogs.....
Thank you. People often freak out when I say that I leave him in the caravan. But that's our home when we're travelling. And being solo, I can't be with him 24/7. And he's happy enough to be left in there for a bit, as I am sure your three doggos are.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video Roseanna. The visit to the crash site was very moving. I agree that you leaving Winston in the pod was the best thing for him, I used to let my dog have a rest day if we’d been out for a long walk the previous day. Like the new channel name by the way. Hope you are having a good week. Can’t wait for part 5. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the video. At least the new channel name is easier to spell 😂
Thanks for watching and commenting; I'm working on the next video as we speak 😉👍🏼
The pod definitely nice to have in that weather compared with my tent !
Winston and I did the tent thing for a few years before I bought the pod. The pod has been a game changer; so much nicer to come back to a dry and warm space after being out in the wet and cold.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow that looks very wet out there lol you must be mad . That was so funny seeing Winston Trying to get comfortable he Seemed very happy I hope you have Sorted that problem out you head looking forward to seeing Winston and you with same Is better weather take care both of you.
The weather was terrible and I was happy when I get back to the campsite.
Thanks so much or watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi, when we leave our dogs in the van we too have the camera for peace of mind. My biggest worry is if the battery in the smoke detector goes off due to running out of charge our dogs will be demented and with no where to hide, get distressed .
They even struggle when a van near us has its alarm go off. Yes I know I am a right flapper but that camera makes all the difference.
Loving your videos, thanks Richie.
Thankfully, Winston could sleep through an earthquake when he get's comfy 😅 but I understand your concerns and peace of mind goes a long way.
Glad to hear your enjoy our video. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Will it ever stop raining! I agree with you 100% about leaving Winston in the pod to rest and stay warm and dry. Dogs certainly know how to make themselves comfy. Love the video, thankyou for taking us along, can’t wait for your next one.
The rain has been terrible this year! I think I'm going to start getting webbed feet soon 😅
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Enjoyable as always. Really look forward to your posts. Thank you for the work you put into making your content. xx
My pleasure! I'm just happy that you're enjoying them. Thanks so much for watching.
Great vlog, the way you edited the crash site left me in tears. The memorial amplifies the conditions on the beacons. Your choices of sound are so evocative and take me to places in my past. This is the most engaging channel I have subscribed to and just leaves me wanting more.
Oh wow! Thank you so much for the lovely comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed our video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the video. The visit to the crash site was very poignant and I think the weather matched the sombreness of the site.
Lovely campsite huh. Scary amount of water in the river. Glad to see Winston was more interested in his little orange knobbly bone that getting anywhere near the water 🤗
It was terrible weather to be walking in, but the weather did make the crash site a more emotional place for me.
Winston wouldn't go near the river at the back of the pod, there are too many rocks to climb down, and he much prefers an easy entrance and exit when swimming 😂🙈
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the vlog the place even looks great in the rain. Nice wellies by the way
Glad you enjoyed it! and polka dots make the rain much more enjoyable 😉😂
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Another fantastic video…I think you did the right thing leaving Winston in the Pod to rest…I bet you enjoyed the warm cup of tea when you got back….David Gilmour
The feeling of a hot cup of tea in cold hands is one of those little pleasures in life! ❤
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video, I think even if the weather's awful it's good to get walking in it if it's not too blustery.
Winston definitely got a good deal though staying in the Pod!!
Loved the camp site, worth every penny for all the facilities.
This weather certainly wakes you up and blows away the cobwebs 😅
That was one of my favorite campsites of the trip. Great location with lots of places to explore around the site.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Incredible scenery but the weather!!! Reminds me why I hate the stuff! I had no idea that so many people had lost their lives on the BB 😢. Good to see Winston enjoying himself he's an amazing companion!!IStay safe . Sid and Nicola, Rugby
The weather was awful! But I love the feeling of getting warm and dry after been out in the wet and cold 😇
According to Google, in the past 80-odd years, there have been about 40 plane crashes in the Brecon Beacons. It's very sad.
It doesn't take much for Winston to have a great day 😅
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Wales can be a wet country but south west of this is the Forest of Dean which we love, it's full of history and some beautiful walks can be enjoyed right from your pitch, we love staying at Hawthorn Cottage near Sling, trust me it's a wonderful 10 pitch adult only site right next to the fabulous forest.. We love your Vlogs and keep them coming..H&J x
I have just checked out that campsite online and added it to my list. Thanks so much for sharing 👍🏼
Glad to hear that you like our video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
If you do go there you must do the Heritage Bream Trail, it's about 7 miles mostly flat so hopefully suitable for Winston...
Love watching your videos ❤ keep up the great work. You are such an inspiration to just live life 👍🏻
Great new name! Secret cam shows Winston is super happy to keep the bed warm while Mom is away🙂
Thank you. Winston has no problem being left alone; he just chills out. I never have to worry about him. He's a great traveling buddy 👍
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Excellent footage. On the Wellington you can see the asymmetric triangles in the framework designed by Barnes Wallis (he of the bouncing bomb). So tragic those very brave men losing their lives, like so many.
As for leaving Winston in the pod, I would've thought it was the best place for him. Our dog Dolly needs "me time" occasionally. Usually for her morning snooze. Bonne route. 👍🏻
I remember seeing the triangles; didn't know they were by Barnes Wallis. Thanks for the info.
A lot of people freak out when I say that I leave Winston in the caravan, but he's actually quite happy in there.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@Roz.S Living here in France people can be direct and opinionated a lot of the time and over stupid petty things. It gets to me occasionally but I'm learning to ignore stuff people come out with most of the time.
I wonder what motivates people to be opinionated about daft things like leaving a dog in a pod, or the nice old lady in Lidl this morning who made a comment because I had bought 3 loaves of sliced bread "pain de mie". Most here prefer a baguette. So do I, but old habits die hard. As least she was nice. 😊
@@MegaBreadvan I don't think anyone means to come across as opinionated or judgemental. In Winston's case, I think they just worry that something might happen if he's left on his own. But I've known him for 11-years and I know he will just relax and sleep; he's not going to panic and tear the pod to pieces 😂
@@Roz.S You never know, he might have prepared you something to eat for your return. 😂
@@MegaBreadvan Wouldn't that be awesome! If he could clean the caravan while he's at it as well...
We were at that campsite last summer and it was really lovely. Great walks. Great vlogs!
It been one of my favorite campsites of the trip. Thanks very much for watching and commenting.
Really enjoying your videos, keep up the good work, don’t envy you walking in that weather, that really is hard work. Winston is a lovely little dog, so happy.
I'm glad I went to the crash site, but I did not enjoy that walk 😅 The weather was awful.
Winston is great to have around, he always cheers me up.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Bad news Roz. February.... or July, that's Wales. We do see the sun sometimes, not as often as we'd like.
I won't say it rains a lot ihere in Wales, but our busses have lifeboat drill.........
😂😂 Well, I guess you wouldn't be waterfall country without all that water 👍🏼
Thanks for watching
Lol. You do those walks for pleasure, but you’re like “it’ll soon be over, nearly there.” I know what you mean, though.
I’m sure you always consider what’s best for Winston.
I enjoy them more once they're done 😂😂 ...especially in this type of weather.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Best vlog of your trip. Site looks top drawer. The crash site is testimony to the brave souls that helped rid us of a evil tyrant. The sink holes I think are actually shell scrapes. That area would have being used for target practice. They are left like you see today for troops on excise to shelter. Looking forward to next time 😊😊
Oooo that's so interesting! I would have never of guessed that they were caused by that. Thanks so much! And yes, that site was great; perfect location for exploring some of the best sights in the Brecon Beacons. Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@Roz.S your welcome. My brother and I are ex soldiers. He actually spent alot of time on the Brecon Beacons. It's not unlike the moorlands where we life. Terrific terrain for military training. Have a safe journey home both and ignore the other nonsense please x
Well Ros . My former father-in-law always said no such thing as bad weather .. only inappropriate clothing... But by golly it looked wet and cold..
Thanks for the well wishes cold is breaking .. been alcohol free for 3 years so no hot toddies here .
Your vlogs are entertaining and educational in parts . Be careful solo hiking in the beacons it can be dangerous.. and look after yourself and Winston.. look forward to your next adventure in Pod...
Will you ever brave brining it over to Spain !!? Frank
Well, I wouldn't have wanted to be out there that day without my waterproofs! 😂 A pair of wellies might have been a good idea though 👍🏼
Glad to hear that you're starting to feel better.
I do have plans to tour Europe and venture into Spain one day, but not just yet. I've still got lots of UK places that I want to cross off my list first.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Hi Roz,, just in the car park at caldair idris,, going to try to get to the lake below the summit and do a wild camp,,,before dark,,,, have you done it ??? dAVE
No, I've not done that one before, but it's on my list. Have a great time and keep warm and stay safe 👍🏼 I hope you get a great sunrise tomorrow.
Love following your adventures with Winston! You can see from your videos how happy and content he is 😀is the site you are currently on adult only, as it doesn't say on the booking form. Thanks x
The campsite featured in this video (I'm not on that site anymore), I don't think it is adults only; I think everyone is welcome. Hope that helps.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoy our videos :)
With so much rain it might be wise to invest in a canoe/kayak!!(Only joking,I think). You've done exactly what I would have done and given Winston a rest/snooze time. I wish more dog owners had your sense.See you on the next one.
I think giving Winston a rest was a good decision, but a lot of people freak out when I say that I leave him in the caravan 😅
I cannot believe how much rain we have had. I think I'm going to get webbed feet soon 😂
Thanks for watching and commenting.
You’re right, not the best views! 😂 but love watching you anyway. You come across some interesting places
I do enjoy to go exploring, preferably in better weather though 😅
Thanks for watching
Brilliant vlog. What GPS do you use when you're out on the hills?
Glad you enjoyed our video.
Honestly, I just use my phone and the free version of an app called AllTrails. Even if I lose phone signal it will still tell me my location. And I take along a powerbank just incase the battery runs low.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
What weather! That little river behind your pitch turned into a raging torrent. Do you find the sound of running water soothing at bed time? Gotta say, I would be reluctant to leave the comfort of the pod in that rain, whilst also knowing I really need to stretch my legs. I bet Winston enjoyed having the bed to himself 😊 Does the camera you have to observe him have the ability to talk to him as well?
I do enjoy the sound of running water, but on that night, the river was very loud! When I was in the pod, it sounded like a constant white noise.
Winston does love his morning snoozes and getting to stretch out in bed.
The camera is just a little action cam; I can't view it remotely or talk to him. I just set it up to get footage for the purpose of this video. I know that all he does when I'm out is sleep because he's always still fast asleep when I get back 😅😅
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 👍🏼
Did you ever consider a small freedom caravan rather than the pod? I know you have headroom issues when the pop up roof is down, the freedom is similar in length to the pod but doesn't have the same height issues
Yes, Freedom Caravans were on my potential to buy list. But I ended up with a Go Pod because someone local me was selling theirs and it had been well looked after, had full service history, and was at a fair price. So, I bought that. If a Freedom had become available, then I might have ended up with one of them instead 😀
It was very thoughtful of you to go out and show your respects to those airmen, and on such a mucky day, Roz. We now know which one of you two suffer from separation anxiety (hint - it isn’t Winston😃). That camera was a great idea, are you able to login and view remotely so you know what you’ve got to look forward to on your return? I hope the lighting on that site is good, you really wouldn’t want to fall over one of those massive rocks on a nighttime visit to the facilities block!
Winston has no problem being on his own, it's me that worries about him 😅
I can't view the camera remotely. It's just a stand alone action cam that I set up for the purpose of this video. I don't usually record Winston. I know what he gets up to because he's always fast asleep when I get back. 😅
The lighting on the site isn't great and I did get lost one night going from the showers back to my pod 😂😂
Thanks for watching and commenting.
The thing (that looks a bit like a fireplace) …at the 1:20 mark…might be a dilapidated lime kiln. I’m not sure, but that’s my guess. 🤔
I think that's a good guess. I would have assumed some sort of kiln 👍🏼
Thanks for watching.
Most definitely you made the right decision not to take Winston. Thanks for the vlog it was most informative and interesting.
Ive heard there are mud bogs there you gotta be careful not getting stuck in ?
It can get very wet and boggy on the moors. I've never got stuck in one, but I have often came back with wet feet 😅
It certainly not one of the hottest days , don’t forget to put some RUM in your nice hot cup of tea
only just clicked where I've heard the title music before
It's no-copyright music from Epidemic Sounds, so lot of creators might have used these tracks. Where do you think you've heard it before? 🤔
@@neilgater2213 If it helps, it's called "on the trail" by Tigerblood Jewel. Here's the link to the full track - www.epidemicsound.com/track/K6iou1u8LT/
Sad
It was very emotional standing there on my own in the wind, rain, and fog, looking at the location where these men lost their lives. I'm glad they will always be remembered.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
ok...what did I miss on the new name change?
Check the community tab. In brief, due to my unique name, people keep tracking me down and DMing me inappropriate things. So, I got rid of my full and unique name in an effort to become more stealth. 👍
You could have stayed in the pod with Winston. Wasn’t necessary for you to go out and leave him.
True, but it's good training for him to be on his own for a bit. It's not good for me to be with him 24/7 - that's how dogs develop separation anxiety and it would make it very difficult for me to travel solo with him. As shown in the video, Winston went to sleep for a few hours and was unbothered (which is exactly the behaviour you want from a dog when left alone). 🐶👍🏼
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
...my comment has nothing to do with the crash site - hopefully that is obvious
I was taught those holes in the ground occur on carb. limestone
It’s believed the water dissolves and erodes the limestone under the ground
The top of the hollow collapsed in.
I am sure Winston appreciated his extra nap….
