    Detailed working : -
    Working of a clap switch
    Working of a Clap switch: -
    1)Condenser microphone takes i/p as sound of
    clap and gives electrical o/p. This o/p though
    is very small. Hence, we need an op amp. to
    amplify this electrical o/p.
    2)Here, o/p of condenser microphone is given
    to the 2nd pin of IC 741. Therefore, it acts as
    inverting op amp. Amplified o/p is generated
    at pin6 of the IC.
    3)The amplified o/p is then given to IC 4017.
    IC 4017 is a decade counter IC. Means it can
    count 10 numbers or 10 i/p.
    4)Pin configuration of IC 4017: -
    In IC 4017, pin no. 14 is a clock i/p pin. pin no.
    1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and pin no. 9,10,11 are o/p
    pins. Pin 13 is clock enable pin. Pin 12 is
    a carry out and pin 15 is a reset. Pin 16 is
    +Vcc and pin 8 is ground.
    5)Working of IC 4017: -
    To work the IC i/p must be given to pin 14 of
    the IC. And pin 13 must be grounded to enable
    the counting. Pin no. 12 also must be grounded since
    carry o/p is not used. The counter increases with one
    for every rising clock pulse and enables its
    10 o/p one at a time. After the counter reaches
    9, it starts again. When the 1st i/p is given to the
    IC, 3rd pin i.e., Q0 gives high o/p. When 2nd
    i/p is given, 2nd pin i.e., Q1 gives high o/p.
    When 3rd i/p is given, 4th pin i.e., Q2 gives
    high o/p. And enables it's all 10 o/p one by one.
    But when Reset (pin 15) is connected to
    any of the o/p, it counts till that o/p only
    and resets the whole IC. Here, pin 15 is connected
    to pin 4 (Q2). So, after 3rd i/p given, instead
    of giving high o/p at pin 4 (Q4), it resets
    itself and starts again from Q0. And hence
    o/p keeps switching between pin 2 and 3 (Q1
    and Q0).
    6)Now, this o/p generated across pin 2 and 3
    can be used as switch. From pin 3, and LED is
    connected and from pin 2, o/p is given to relay
    to control the bulb. But, o/p generated across
    pin 2 is not sufficient for relay to act as
    a switch. Hence, a transistor is used to
    amplify the o/p. Here, a NPN transistor is
    used. When o/p from 2nd pin of IC 4017 is given
    to base of the transistor, voltage is generated
    across base and emitter, and transistor is in
    ON state. When o/p is generated across 3rd pin
    of IC 4017, 2nd pin gives low o/p and hence
    transistor is in OFF state.
    7)Now, this o/p generated from the transistor
    is given to the relay. Relay is a mechanical
    switch in which a coil is used to operate the
    switch. When voltage is generated across the
    relay (i.e., when transistor is in ON state)
    coil produces magnetic field and attracts
    the magnet of the switch and closes the switch (NC).
    When, current stops flowing through the
    magnetic field (i.e., when transistor is in
    OFF state) is coil loses the magnetic field
    and switch turns back off (NO). This switch can be
    used to switch ON/OFF the AC supply which is
    given to the bulb.
    When the current passes through the coil, the coil
    gets charged. When current switches OFF, the
    coil loses its magnetic field and produces
    back emf. This back emf can damage the entire
    circuit. Hence, a diode is used in reverse bias
    to stop the back emf.
    This is how clap switch takes the i/p from
    a microphone and uses it to control a bulb,
    a fan, a radio, or any electrical device which
    works on AC.

      Brother I do made this circuit 2 times but nothing is happening, I am unable to understand how transistir's opening and closing will provide current in the collector of transistor I mean there's no source in collector right? If some voltages reach to base, it will open base-emitter junction, but do any current goes up to collector too? 🤔

    Please clear followings droughts
    1)The variable resistance is of 1K or 10K. Circuit diagram in Video says it will be 1K where attached diagram says it will 10K.
    2) Same is with the resistance R1. Is it of 1K or 10K?
    3) 22K is used in both circuit diagram but it is neither mentioned in the video nor in the list of items.

    Bro, i have made as per your given circuit in the description for my phy project, but, unfortunately, when i connect the battery, if red led glows, then green led will on when clapped. But once green led is on, the red led cannot be oned again by clapping. Can you please help me with any common mistakes nd all?

      He used a 4017 decade counter. When the Op-Amp goes high it clocks the counter which then cycles through switching on the transistor and LED

    Your circuit diagram in the description is wrong short pin no 11 and 12.and earth pin no 8 then pin no 16 connected to voltage.Otherwise it will not work.

      I think the problem to be solved should be the basics of electronic components of using what it's used for, what the reason of using it , the understanding of ckt logic, all of this are required to deal with the problem if your project is still incomplete then ask for your teacher or gather material and queries this what every student need to be find 🙄😑😴😪
