It's not like that. SMrookies is a line-up of public trainees. There are different categories of sm trainees, public trainee, hidden trainee, normal trainee. Joy and Renjun for example were just normal trainee. Winter is a hidden trainee.
@@notmyname3556 There isn't normal or hidden trainee, it's the same, the normal trainees ARE hidden...there's only SMRookies and Non SMRookies aka the regular "normal" trainees. SMRookies were a team that would be introduced to the public, promoted and have pre-debut activities, and the rest were the annonymous trainees, so basically anyone who wasn't part of SMRookies was a "hidden trainee"
@@bhblanks5517 hidden trainees is not exactly an official thing. It's just sm made an extra effort to keep them hidden. It could be for marketing strategy, tho usually the trainees who kept low profile are those who was trained by special coaches like Yoo Youngjin and others.
Smrookies wasn't a thing before 2012, despite that they did have public trainees. Yoona, Sulli and Sooyoung for example were public trainees.
@@notmyname3556 I think you got this wrong, the "hidden member" is more about the debut not the training system, Winter was considered a hidden member because she didn't have any predebut info and because SM kept her skills hidden all throughout the teasers, not because she got any type of special training.
Aside from SMRookies, SM (like most companies) makes an extra effort to keep every trainee hidden, literally every trainee keeps a low profile and there aren't "special coaches" and regular coaches, i don't know where you got that from, not everything is categorized. All coaches are the same, Yoo Youngjin is as special as Jang Jinyoung, Zhang Liyin and any other coach who works/ed with SM.
Yess i didn't say anything about the public trainees, SMRookies were indeed public trainees. I was talking abou the "normal" and "hidden" trainee thing which doesn't exist

@@케이느 Herin left in 2017 to participate in Idol School, and there’s no official reason for the other girls but they probably left because they were told they won’t be debuting in Aespa
@@케이느 After years of no opportunity, they eventually had to leave. One of them participated in a survival show, but she also didn't move to the final choice (she had a great voice, so I was really heartbroken to see her let go). SM's gg projects definitely changed, seeing how Aespa's concept and lineup was chosen. Ningning was successful in her pursuit since she's now a part of Aespa, but it's sad to see how obvious it was in the beginning that she missed the close trainee group she had grown up with and had to adjust individually. Luckily she's closer to her members now.

I don't think so, these girls would've probably been too "old" to debut when GOT the beat debuted. Honestly it's more likely that SM simply changed their plans. I saw somewhere that some theorize that Red Velvet should've had a concept similar to NCT with members being added over the years. It's also possible that Aespa (or whatever the group would be called) should've debuted earlier, but this didn't happen.
