Great tutorial, but I have one question....once you cut your extensions, how do you know which extension to place where on your head, after they've been cut...will they need to be placed each time in the same area of your head because they are all now different lengths? How do you store them after cutting?
Yes you should place them close to the same spot each time. You can # them but I don't, because I use about only 5 of the wefts and I remember the placement according to how many clips. The two clipped ones I put on the side are also easy to remember because after the cut the with be diagonally cut on the ends so I now the shortest part goes closest to my face. When I take them out I place them in the order I apply them bottom back piece on top. Then brush them twist them and place them in the packaging or a small cloth bag.
PROS: She has a delightful demeanor, the set is nice and lighting perfect. CONS: I had to skip through two minutes to get to the tutorial. Then I couldn't even see her technic as her wrist is in front of the place she is cutting. Bad angle for teaching. Also, how about a shot of the hair when it's finished? How well did it turn out? Did she have to make any changes? Was it layered? All one length? Let's see it! The proof in the pudding.
That's a great technique Jenn ♡ ..now I have a new way in trimming my extentions ..i just recently got mine trimmed at salon but once I see ends splitting I'll be happy to save money and diy :) my question is I have about 3 inches below shoulder length hair..my extension s are about 16 inches long..are my extensions supposed to be the same exact length of my natural hair?? :) thanks again doll for this diy vid..loved it~bubblzzvces ♡♡
No they should definitely be longer. The only layer that will be the same is that very first front layer. and you can even keep that one about an inch or two longer if you want :)
I did these on my extensions earlier && it turned out amazing! This makes everything so much easier && is most useful out of the other tutorials I seen. THANK YOU SO MUCH😘
This is the easiest video I've seen so far! I'm still nervous about cutting my own because I'm afraid I'll mess it up, but the hair I have is a bit too long for my liking and I want it to appear more natural so the difference isn't drastic. Great video!
By far the best tutorial for cutting hair extensions I've seen! Never seen this technique before but it makes so much sense now I've seen it. Why didn't I think of it! 😂 thanks!
Hey Jenn, I'm new to this and don't know if you're still answering questions, but what if I want shorter extensions overall? Meaning, I got the 20" but I ordered wrong and I want 18" max - would you suggest just doing a blunt cut to ONLY the extensions in this case? Not sure I want to layer them until I first get some length off...wondering what you think. Thanks in advance! Love your channel :) -Jen
Idk how u did it and im not trying to be rude but its so unprofessional not just the way your doing it but also how ur grabbing the shears i wouldn't try this at home
Actually that is how you're suppose to hold professional shears. I am licensed and have over 10 years experience. This video is intended to be simple for someone with absolutely no experience.
I wanna try this with my extentions but I'm scared I don't wanna mess them up it looks easy but my hairs a little bit up to my neck I have short layers.. HELP!
Ahhhhhh ZALA....Nahhhhhh Bellamy. I will never go back to cheap and ratty brands again, they're not value for money when you have to replace them so often!
This was so helpful and the easiest way i've seen so far! Sometimes i wear tape extensions and whenever i get a new set i struggle to cut them just right. Can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Finally the video I've been searching for!! I cut my own layers at home using the same method of pulling hair forward and always wondered if I could cut my hair extensions the same way. Finally you've answered my question. I believe yours is the only video on UA-cam showing this. 👍👍👍👍
I actually don't but you can. The reason I don't is because I use about only 5 of the wefts and I remember the placement according to how many clips. The two clipped ones I put on the side are also easy to remember because after the cut the with be diagonally cut on the ends so I now the shortest part goes closest to my face. :)
Hi! Great video, I have l-o-n-g 22" extensions and I'm going to try this. I don't want to loose much length, but certainly some. You can see them on my channel! Thanks for the great DIY help! New subby!
ok so i recently baught some hair extensions there 18 inch but they look more like 22 inch because they go down my stomach. The thing is i got them the color auburn brown and my hair is light brown and i have a ash light blonde ombre.would my hair still look good ? if i tried to blend them in with my hair?
Great tutorial! 😊 Will this work even for tape extensions? I tried cutting mine once while simply combing the hair forward like you did. I had all of the hair in a pony tale, just above my hairline. Then cut all the hair at once. It did not turn out as good as I hoped. The length was ok, but the layering was not really blending that well. I hope you can tell me whether or not your technique, cutting section by section and not all at once, will work for tape extensions as well. 😊
I just tried this on my hair extensions. I've never cute hair before or something, I'm just 15, and I didn't want to pay a lot of money at the salon to cut my hair extensions. It was so easy and it worked just as I wanted to! Thanks!!
Omg it took me 3 seconds !! Thank you so very much ! I didn’t have the 150 ext I normally get but I did have about 100 I took the whole thing over head and it came out gorgeous . Just what the doctor ordered tonight 😉👍
If I have short hair and want pretty prominent layers so I can wear them straight would I use my natural hair as the guide or just decide where I think the first layer should be?
Do NOT know if you will even see this but: I JUST bought my first set of those specific extensions. The extensions I had made are just too thin at the ends. If I am wanting to keep majority of the length (that's my main reason for getting these) so would I just 'trim' and if so ... do you think it will still look blended? I have long layers. I hope that all made sense. (Ps. New Sub here :) )
You did a good job. I am too scared to cut my own hair though. I did as a teenager and I always messed it up. lol. Btw, your hair without extensions is beautiful as well.
i gotta cut mine to make them blend but im scared cuz i spent money...but if i did this im scared cutting it to my shortest layer will make them too short
Hi hun I was the same I played good money for my really ones and was scared to mess up so I went on eBay and got a cheap fake set and practiced... A good little tip to is to only cut a small amount at a time, then you can always go back and trim more if needed... Hope I help it how I did mine XxXxXx
Hello, I recently bought the balayage Bellami 160g /20 inches. My hair length is where my neck ends, but the extensions are so thin! I don't know what to do, either cut ti in layers, but I'm scared they turned even thinner or buy some other extensions. But don't know which ones! And I'm broke after spending almost 300 with Bellami! Help!! Thanks
Zeth GET LUXURIES!!! they are amazing as jenn said i am absolutely in love with mine and i have had both brands before and i can honestly say they are both nice but hands down i love my luxury for princess ones so much!
You have to wash bellami's before you wear them. Bellami puts a film on there extensions to make them extra silky which in my opinion looks awful. When I washed them though they looked a hell of a lot better
I have a new set of extensions that are super long. they look really obvious in my this shoulder length hair. after trimming them to blend do you have any suggestions on how to make them blend when your natural hair is on the thin side?
Blah blah blah get to the point, doesn't start until 2:20
+PokerQueen87 LOL okay I agree
Life saver
+Cariad Thanks for watching :) Glad it helped.
Thank you!!! I was going to comment the same thing!!!
PokerQueen87 dead ass thank you
Something about you reminds me of Sandra Bullock, you’re so beautiful! Thanks for the awesome tips!
Chelsee Lynn thank you 😊 I get that a lot.
sorry but I don't think this video is for someone with no experience in cutting or what not as they can cut their own hair accidentally in the process
I just put mine in a pony tail and cut it off. Best thing I ever did. For fuck sakes feels better. 🥰
I was just thinking that I needed to cut my extensions this morning! How perfect! Thank you!
It makes the biggest difference :D let me know if you use my technique XO
Hi, if I have a halo extension so one piece would I still do it the same way? Please let me know! Thank you! ❤️☺️
Yes you can! As long as you can flip your head over with the halo.
@@JennMarie should it be all together when I trim?

You said you have 3 favorite hair extensions? Which 3 are your favorite?

Awe thank you for commenting. I am so glad you liked the technique XO
For real tho I wasted my 8 long minutes just for the sake of cutting one shit layer of hair extensions. Please get to the point next time.
What was the end product??? Waste my time, everyone knows the ponytail trick
This is the easiest video I've seen so far! I'm still nervous about cutting my own because I'm afraid I'll mess it up, but the hair I have is a bit too long for my liking and I want it to appear more natural so the difference isn't drastic. Great video!

I wanna try this with my extentions but I'm scared I don't wanna mess them up it looks easy but my hairs a little bit up to my neck I have short layers.. HELP!
I have very short hair. How would I go about deciding where the first layer should be?
Start where you want your shortest layer of extensions to fall and do not use you're hair as a guide.
Ahhhhhh ZALA....Nahhhhhh Bellamy. I will never go back to cheap and ratty brands again, they're not value for money when you have to replace them so often!
Man one side of my hair is nice but the other is fucking uneven and ugggglly like omg nooo lmfaoo😩😥😭😂😂😭😩
Very good video Jenn. No hair extensions here but I do cut my own hair.
Thanks Marla
Thank you so much for posting this video :)

Thank you so much for watching I'm glad to help
She didnt show the end result :(
I am inlove with your background!!!!! Please tell me what that is?!! Is it a thug. Blanket with lights behind?
It's white string lighter with white sheer curtains in front.
That's wonderful, thank you so much for the tutorial, I must admit I'm a little scared, I'm older but I can pull this look off, ok deep breath,

Would u number the wefts? So after cutting they are the same ?
I actually don't but you can. The reason I don't is because I use about only 5 of the wefts and I remember the placement according to how many clips. The two clipped ones I put on the side are also easy to remember because after the cut the with be diagonally cut on the ends so I now the shortest part goes closest to my face. :)
Ok that makes sense, I need to cut mine and of course never use all of them, can you do a review on which brand you use? Thanks :-)
I'm just about to try your technique! Super nervous 😱 I'll let you know how I get on!!
Hi! Great video, I have l-o-n-g 22" extensions and I'm going to try this. I don't want to loose much length, but certainly some. You can see them on my channel! Thanks for the great DIY help! New subby!
Thank you so much for subbing :) Glad this was helpful
why the hell did u cut them??
i was wondering if i could do this method with a halo. thank you
I have not owned a halo but based on looking at it I do not think it would work the same
sorry to sound mean but would you just get shorter extensions
Great question! You would still have to trim them to match your layers unless you didn't have any.
Jenn, Your marvellous!!!and if yu were a unicorn you would be the one of a kind
ok so i recently baught some hair extensions there 18 inch but they look more like 22 inch because they go down my stomach. The thing is i got them the color auburn brown and my hair is light brown and i have a ash light blonde ombre.would my hair still look good ? if i tried to blend them in with my hair?
no you should tone them and if that doesnt work you'll need to get another colour. that sucks :(
your hair is long and look thick enough so why the extentions..
Great tutorial! 😊 Will this work even for tape extensions? I tried cutting mine once while simply combing the hair forward like you did. I had all of the hair in a pony tale, just above my hairline. I hope you can tell me whether or not your technique, cutting section by section and not all at once, will work for tape extensions as well. 😊
Yes doing the smaller sections should give you a much better blend.
I just tried this on my hair extensions. I've never cute hair before or something, I'm just 15, and I didn't want to pay a lot of money at the salon to cut my hair extensions. It was so easy and it worked just as I wanted to! Thanks!!
You're Welcome! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I so glad this was easy and helpful XO - Jenn
Hi Jenn, What colour brand and number is you hair? I'm trying to lighten my hiar. Thanks!
Hi! I use the Garnier Olia in # 5.0 Medium Brown.
Omg it took me 3 seconds !! Thank you so very much ! I didn’t have the 150 ext I normally get but I did have about 100 I took the whole thing over head and it came out gorgeous . Just what the doctor ordered tonight 😉👍
Yay!!! That make ls me so happy that this was helpful.
Really good vid! I have extensions and I'm going to use this technique to cut them. Thank you so much for the help!!
Starts at: 2:30.
If I have short hair and want pretty prominent layers so I can wear them straight would I use my natural hair as the guide or just decide where I think the first layer should be?
Yes you could use your hair as a guide. I normally do just that :) just be sure not to cute your real hair ;)
Love your video so much! Good Job!! looking forward to your next playlist
Thanks :)
Thank you very helpful......
Brush each layer forward towards your face, cut each differently. Clever D.I.Y. maneuver!
:D Thank you!
Do NOT know if you will even see this but: I JUST bought my first set of those specific extensions. The extensions I had made are just too thin at the ends. I hope that all made sense. (Ps. New Sub here :) )
I think I understand and yes it will still blend if you're layers are long (about jaw length). Also try point cutting to avoid harsh lines.
Thanks girl! Appreciate the reply! I'll give it a go!
You did a good job. I am too scared to cut my own hair though. I did as a teenager and I always messed it up. lol. Btw, your hair without extensions is beautiful as well.
Hi Jean, Thank you :)
Okay so I did this to my extensions today, I was so nervous but the outcome was awesome! They look sooo good. Thank you so much!! :)
i gotta cut mine to make them blend but im scared cuz i spent money...but if i did this im scared cutting it to my shortest layer will make them too short
Hi hun I was the same I played good money for my really ones and was scared to mess up so I went on eBay and got a cheap fake set and practiced... I love your technique definitely I will try it
Its really so easy! Thank you for this
I have Luxury for Princess but I have a lot of trouble with getting them to hold curl :/
Me too 😐 dk why
Thank you for sharing this- this is by far the best diy technique I have seen!
Can you do a video on putting them in?
Thank you! This technique is going to be so helpful!
Just saw this video and gonna try it! I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks so much!! 😊
:D XOXO I hope it turned out great - Jenn
What brand scissors?
I forget brand of these. I do remember them being from Sally’s beauty though.
can you use normal house scissors i bought 20 inch extensions from luxy but there way longer than i expected i wanna cut them to about 14?
I definitely wouldn't. You can get a inexpensive pair of hair cutting shears at target to Walmart.
thanks!!

Zeth GET LUXURIES!!! they are amazing as jenn said i am absolutely in love with mine and i have had both brands before and i can honestly say they are both nice but hands down i love my luxury for princess ones so much!
I bought some extensions before that were to thin I just curled my hair with them without heat and they blended very well and don't even look thin!
You have to wash bellami's before you wear them. Bellami puts a film on there extensions to make them extra silky which in my opinion looks awful. When I washed them though they looked a hell of a lot better
this was such a mess holy shit
Thanks so much for this super easy and helpful video! Xox

I have a new set of extensions that are super long. they look really obvious in my this shoulder length hair. after trimming them to blend do you have any suggestions on how to make them blend when your natural hair is on the thin side?
Maddie And Evie there are other videos that deal with that. Sorry that you didn't get an answer from her.
Love it! thanks
