Is it possible to create internal and external FAQs (for team members and customers)?

Yes - however, they would be separate databases. The external one would have to be available in a space that allows anonymous access (or Guest access). e.g. you can't have only some parts of one database available externally.

Can I calculate metrics from the database? for example number of questions answered without using extensions

Hey Leilen - currently there is no way to provide metrics within the database. I do think that could be very useful though.. for example displaying the total number of "IT" questions, or ones without answers.
There is a "numbers" column that can be added, however, that just stores a numeric value currently and can't be used to run calculations.

Does it work in tandem with the Jira Knowledge Base?

Heya Laoshu8311 - Currently it looks like Jira Knowledge Base only sees Pages in Confluence... (e.g. data in databases, whiteboards, blogs or shortcuts can't be pulled into answers). I've reached out to Atlassian for clarification and definitely hope they change that!
