One thing I really like about this version is how Beverley's character is portrayed. When it comes to one on one with the boys you can see Pennywise actively trying to scare them but when it comes to Bev all Pennywise does is sit back and let her father do the scaring for him. The boys are more scared your typical imaginary monsters, but Beverley isn't since she lives with her monster. Drives home the point that monsters do exist and are not just in our imagination.

The thing about all the fears is that they're all representative of existential fears. Bill's is a fear of grief. He is afraid of the implications that come with admitting Georgie is dead that's why Pennywise torments him with Georgie. Eddie's fear is hypochondria but that one is pretty obvious and thats why the leper. Richie is afraid of clowns buuuut we'll put a pin in that for now. Beverley is afraid of growing up as a woman because of what that might mean for her relationship with her father. Ben has the least developed fear but I think ya'll are right that its a fear of history. Mike fears death and victimization. Thats why pennywise uses his parents tormented death against him. I think Stan's is the most interesting though. That painting is hanging in his father's office. Stan's dad is a rabbi who is preparing him for his bar mitzvah. Stan goes to that office to learn the Hebrew he needs for that ceremony. That ceremony is representative of becoming a man. That painting is a reminder that his greatest fear is growing up.
All great points, would love to add: The second movie states why bill was taunted with Georgie and while thats part of it the main thing was something else(not saying specifics because they get notifs of all comments and don’t want them to accidentally come across it)
I know a lot of other subscribers have mentioned that the line "they all float down here" can be interpreted as the bodies of the dead floating in the sewer waters, which is true, and as you saw, bodies literally floating, suspended in mid-air, but also, if memory serves, King does write that Pennywise intends it to mean "floating" in the Deadlights. One of my fave quotes - again, if memory serves: "She was now with It, alive yet not alive. Now the mind of her was with It, in It, beyond the end of the Macroverse. She was in Its eye, she was in Its mind. She swam, floating in the Deadlights."
My Mom and I saw this at a midnight premiere and, to this day, it remains the best theater experience we’ve ever had. It was such a fantastic night! The crowd was amazing! Everyone was laughing and jumping and screaming together. The biggest reaction was definitely the projector scene, when Pennywise came out giant. The whole theater jumped at the same time! 🤡💛
Funny that you mention Sophia Lillis looks a lot like Amy Adams because she actually played a younger version of Amy's character in the limited series "Sharp Objects" over on HBO. Really great story with amazing acting btw. Recommend that to anybody who hasn't watched it

Interesting facts about IT: In Chapter One (2017) (1) Jack Dylan Grazer (Eddie) was the first one out of all the kids to work with Bill Skarsgård (Pennywise). During their scene, Grazer would cry and gag while Skarsgård was right in his face yelling and drooling. Skarsgård was genuinely concerned for Grazer and after the scene ended, asked him if he was okay. Grazer looked right at him and said, "Love what you're doing with the character!" Skarsgård was left confused and impressed at Grazer's attitude, calling the child actors "little professionals." (2) Bill Skarsgård wanted to make sure that his performance as Pennywise was convincing to audiences. He states, "In order for this movie to be as effective as the book and the series, I have to scare a whole generation. My take was that Pennywise functions very simply. Nothing much is going on in terms of what he's thinking - he's animalistic and instinctive." (3) Bill Skarsgård actually was able to smile in such a weird way that it really intrigued the director and now it is Pennywise's iconic smile. Skarsgård had originally developed the smile when he was a child and was trying to scare his brothers.
Read the book, it’s both disturbing to the core and extremely sad at the same time. I love how detailed it is too, with all its history regarding Derry, the relationships between the kids, the Lovecraftian entity IT is. Such a great read. Just a massive tome of great storytelling.
'You'll float too' You know, when a body dies it starts decomposing, as it does this it creates gasses in the body that make them float when in water. He's basically taunting them that they'll die too
Great reaction. I love the original cause it came out when I was a teenager. This version was incredible it freaked me out when I saw it in the theaters. All the scares were terrifying. "We all float down here." 🎈
I love how Muschiette made this film more dark and more close to King's novel. Yes, love the original film and Tim Curry's legendary performer but this is that caliber because this got the big screen treatment with a (R rating). #YouMe&TheBaloonies
It’s still not as faithful as it should’ve been and the movie could’ve been better with a better director. I don’t think the novel will ever get complete justice, but it’s a hard book to adapt. I would’ve loved to have seen what Cary Fukunaga would’ve done with it.

So glad you guys are doing the new IT movies. Absolutely no shade thrown at Tim Curry (he's a legend), but the book is far more suited to an R (or worse, honestly) rating than a TV mini-series. Can't wait for part 2!
I was going to post this during the ‘It’ part one reaction to the t.v. miniseries, but held back. Now that another chance has come along I won’t pass up the opportunity again. In the other reaction, you mentioned having never seen Annette O’Toole in anything other than ‘Virgin River’. I WAS going to recommend one of my favorite shows which stars her but didn’t. Now, yore referencing Lois Lane and Amy Adams. If you know that then you might be a ‘Superman’ fan, so I think you should check out the show ‘Smallville’. Annette O’Toole plays Clark Kent’s mom, Martha. Some say it starts out rough, freak-of-the-week kind of stuff, but then so did ‘The X-files’. It really finds its footing by the middle of the season and runs an incredible ten years, making it one of the longest running sci-fi shows ever!
This is one of the few remakes I actually like and the problem with the original is that they couldn’t use the darker parts due to the time it came out. Having read the book I can say this version is closer but it does leave out some of the stuff that is covered in the original. Definitely a difficult book to get through.
Imagine seeing on the big screen in a theater, Beverly going at it with all the boys taking turn... cringe af! I read the books when I was about 13, and I clearly remember the cringe I felt myself reading this.
@@Hanrahan46 Yeah it was pretty sick (in a sewer tunnel too! lol), but they still could have "adapted" the Ritual to something less sickening, and made good by the original.. I just wish we would have gotten to see Maturin...
@@Hanrahan46 That seemed be a more common thing in 80s novels "It", "My Sweet Audrina", 'The Girl Next Door" and movies like "The Accused. And if they did do that for the new movie, then Bev's dad would have been more justified in worrying about her hanging around all those boys, even though he did have other issues.
For the new version, I love Eddie. Ben is a close second. Such a sweetie, poor guy. I think the hair and blood for Beverly is supposed to be fear of puberty and her body changing so that her icky dad is paying more attention to her. So gross. The leper is disgusting. The new version is more heartbreaking for Bill because in the original version he knows that his brother is dead but in this one he's left desperately hoping he'll find him. One thing I do like better about the original and the book is that they make it clearer that the kids belief is what gives them power against IT. If IT is a werewolf then silver bullets work against him. If the kid thinks his asthma inhaler is like acid against IT then it burns him. In the new version the weapon Bill uses is empty but it works anyway because Bill believes it will and Ben's magic kiss works for the same reason, but they don't really make that clear. It's such a cool concept, especially for children using their imagination to beat such a terrifying creature. Can't wait for the second vid on each!
Bill Scarsgard did an amazing job as this new iteration of the character. Like even tho Tim Curry is my personal favorite cause he’s more iconic especially with his personality, Bill’s version of pennywise is one I wouldn’t want to be stuck with. Ugh also loved the opening like the fact they show Georgie’s arm getting bitten off had me shook in the theaters💀 a lot of cgi is used and that’s not for me but overall a great remake too bad part 2 kinda drops specifically towards the end.
I don't like this Pennywise at all. The whole point of the clown thing is to make kids feel at ease to draw them in close. I don't think any kid past the1930's would trust the newer pennywise.
" a lot of cgi is used and that’s not for me " You mean like: Lot's of CGI that you can recognize as such. Modern movies and shows are full of CGI. "The Underground Railroad" for example. But you won't even notice it's there.
Somewhat related... If anyone has yet to listen to Steven Weber read the IT audiobook, please do so. It is not only a great take on my favorite book, it is my favorite take on my favorite book :)
fear of drowning is one of the most usual fears among humans, hence Pennywise starts with and usually uses the sentence "we all float down here", its kind of an trigger/lullaby for people who fear drowning.

More Stephen King; Cujo, The Dead Zone, Cat's Eye, Christine, Stand By Me, Sometimes They Come Back, Gerald's Game. This new It adaptation is okay but I prefer the TV version.
"Why does he say that?" Because in the sewer the bodies of the children float in the water, is what always thought it meant ( perhaps the phrase was meant to have a dual meaning). But having seen the end of this movie. The children see the dead lights and levitate into a holding pattern. Like flies caught in a web. Just floating there. So they float down there.....
As an AVID King fan since I was a child, with IT being my all-time favorite novel, I totally prefer this remake. It adheres more to the plot of the book and explores elements that couldn't be explored on television, and the characterizations of the main cast feel much more faithful. Also, Bill Skarsgård brings a whole new level of terror to Pennywise! Tim Curry is the ultimate, but Skarsgård is in his own lane-that man is phenomenal in this role!
Hes really not, skarsgard doesnt play.pennywise he plays a guy trying to be a creepy clown and in doing so he fails to give pennywise any actual character or creepiness
@@donnybuoy he has no character beyond "oooh creepy clown", even his design focuses too much on being creepy. He is tryhard creepy, and tryhard anything always fails at its actual goal. I noticed on here that nobody's really done a movie reaction to Mr Mercedes series. Is another wonderful Stephen King book that should have its own review. Not sure if it would be a popular choice for the viewers but I just thought I would recommend it
Here is a little advice about watching horror movies. The best way to conquer horror movie is just by simply watching them and just getting through. Over time as you continue to watch more horror movies you'll get used to the jump-scares or whatever is creeping you out in the movie. There are little tricks you can use to dull down the jump scares or whatever part that's about to scare you one way is to turn your screen to the side but keep looking at it from an angle view that way when the jump scare happens you won't necessarily have to look at it another way if you wear headphones take the earphones off and just watch what happens without the sound. But the more you watch horror films the less scared you will be of them because you will wear of what might happen or what will happen. All horror films are literally the same damn plot line. A group of people are either going to some place or living someplace and going to another place. For what it's worth she did a better job that she normally did because the main jumpscare she actually sat through it and it didn't mess with her....
The chemistry between the kids really made this movie great like especially between Richie and Eddie

All great points, would love to add: The second movie states why bill was taunted with Georgie and while thats part of it the main thing was something else(not saying specifics because they get notifs of all comments and don’t want them to accidentally come across it)
@@yesnt8941 they already watched part 2 lol
@@justarandomveryintelligent8934 not you lol the video creator, they can see everything
..read the book?
“It was real enough for Georgie!” Sick burn by Pennywise! 🎈
Yes, one of my favorites. The horror is incredibly artistic and moving.
Funny that you mention Sophia Lillis looks a lot like Amy Adams because she actually played a younger version of Amy's character in the limited series "Sharp Objects" over on HBO. Really great story with amazing acting btw. Recommend that to anybody who hasn't watched it
Nic Hamilton played a true monster in this movie and is the sweetest boy in real life. Acting.
10:42 The woman in the background starring at the kid (can't remember the name) is one of the creepiest things in the movie. Love it.
EDIT: I forgot about the pharmacist, he's creepier then Pennywise.
EDIT2: Ok I've forgotten a few things about this movie apparently. Bevs dad is real bad too. Final thought, lots of creeps in this one.
I was disappointed with the interaction Ben had with the librarian in this because in the novel, they were friendly and respectful of each other.
you can totally see pennywise stalking them the moment stan ducks 15:33
Never noticed nice eyes
i'm 53 yrs old and this god dam movie ran up my light bill for 2months. everytime i shut the lights
off for bed.., i see freakin eyes no matter what !!!!! so now i'm a happily restful day sleeper.
16:27 funny fact they both played in "Sharp Object" HBO limited series as young and adult of one person
Fun fact. Bill is holding a Lego turtle before he sees Georgie. It's an Easter egg for the cosmic turtle that looks after the kids in the book.
I knew this one would scare mrs movies alot more than the og. Bill Skarsgard did a phenomenal job as pennywise, the kids are way better in this one. Henry was a serial killer in the making. One of my favorite horror movies of all time. Your guys reactions always put me in a better mood and I really appreciate that alot. Keep up the great work. 😃❤🙏

Me: Remember, we all float down here!
I loved all the humor in this movie. I can't imagine how it would have been without it.
Read the book, it’s both disturbing to the core and extremely sad at the same time. I love how detailed it is too, with all its history regarding Derry, the relationships between the kids, the Lovecraftian entity IT is. Such a great read.
Just a massive tome of great storytelling.
To all adult viewers...ADMIT IT, you laughed hard when Georgie smacked his head on that 2nd CAUTION Barricade. Me too.😂😂
Tis funny
The saying at the end is what Bill says to control his stutter.
“He thrusts his fists against the post and still insists he sees the ghost.”
Ahhhhhahahaha! Mrs Movies comment on how beautiful the hoosier cabinet was took me the F out!!! 😂😂😂
'You'll float too'
You know, when a body dies it starts decomposing, as it does this it creates gasses in the body that make them float when in water. He's basically taunting them that they'll die too
Great reaction. I love the original cause it came out when I was a teenager. This version was incredible it freaked me out when I saw it in the theaters. All the scares were terrifying.
"We all float down here." 🎈
Fun movie trivia: Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise was able to make his eye go lazy on its own...no CGI effect needed.
I like the og because of the camera and make up techniques they had to use this feels to idk corporate or somthing it just doesn’t have that grimy feel
@@thefilmeffect6089 I just wish they would have made right by the original cocaine-fueled ending... Astral plane, Dead Lights, Maturin, ritual of Tchud...
Is this really darker. The amount of jokes in this movie is ridiculous given that its's supposed to be scary.
The original tv series is closer to the book with how it was present day adults and the story of their childhood is told through memories.
Bill and Beverly kissing at the end, Bill says in his best Forest Gump voice..."She tasted like cigarettes" 😂 LOL
And they still didn't use the darker parts in this one either.
Imagine seeing on the big screen in a theater, Beverly going at it with all the boys taking turn... cringe af! I read the books when I was about 13, and I clearly remember the cringe I felt myself reading this.
Well it’s not really a remake of the TV movie it’s more of an adaptation.
This is the first movie in decades that truly scared the living dog s**t out of me, it was epic!
my favorite family reaction channel by a mile - you guys rock - so genuine and funny
Loved Mrs getting scared. She freaks out so easily. Makes me chuckle.😁
Worst fear, The Mrs getting so scared of IT that Mr. disappears forever. We all float down here.
Tim Curry's my favorite Pennywise the Clown and my prayers go out to him from suffering a major stroke back in July 2012.
I like Tim Curry but the IT mini series is so far from the books i don't realy see him as pennywise more like a creppy clowm
I don't like this Pennywise at all. The whole point of the clown thing is to make kids feel at ease to draw them in close. I don't think any kid past the1930's would trust the newer pennywise.
Skarsgard is scarier but Not funny. At all. Curry blent scary and funny better which is the Point when a monster poses as a clown ro lure in Kids.
" a lot of cgi is used and that’s not for me "
You mean like: Lot's of CGI that you can recognize as such.
Modern movies and shows are full of CGI. "The Underground Railroad" for example. But you won't even notice it's there.
27:54 "Time to take your beer lady" (according to the closed captions)
Somewhat related... If anyone has yet to listen to Steven Weber read the IT audiobook, please do so. It is not only a great take on my favorite book, it is my favorite take on my favorite book :)
fear of drowning is one of the most usual fears among humans, hence Pennywise starts with and usually uses the sentence "we all float down here", its kind of an trigger/lullaby for people who fear drowning.
If I saw neighborhood kids cleaning a unseen mess in my bathroom I'd be suspicious but then realize I'm getting a free bathroom clean up and I didn't pay a penny for it so yay for me.😂
@You,Me &he Movies Im sure someone has mentioned this, but the young actress playing Bevie, plays the young version of Amy Adams in Sharp Objects
i still remember my reaction in the theatre i was totally shocked they actually showed what happened to georgie at the beginning
18:51 He says it al lot because Bill in the beginning says “Well you want it to float don’t you?” After Georgie asks him why they need wax :)
this is going to be an awesome reaction
Georgie said bill is gonna kill me but bill skargard who played penny wise actually did kill him because he bit his hand of and dragged him not the sewer 😂😂😂😂
Great reaction guys., can't wait for Chapter Two.
35:55 that’s fun, because at this moment, his voice reminds me Robert Englund’s one.
Bill Skarsgard is beyond genius in his performance as Pennywise in this movie.
"Is this one scarier?" YEAH, JESUS! LOL
This was the highest grossing Horror film of 2017, making $700 million dollars against a $40 million dollar budget.
Omg this cracked me up no end! 🤣😂🤣 The "Vogue" hands were in full effect! 😱
i hope yall eventually watch sharp objects for a tv show reaction. it has both sophia lillis (beverly) and amy adams who plays her when she's older and is the main character. it's not action packed or comedic but it's incredible and has a murder mystery sort of feel. plus hopefully if you likesharp objects you'll be interested in big little lies which is almost as good (imo, different strokes)
43:23 lol every time I see this camera angle I expect to see lil blonde baby coming through the curtain asking for help getting a new movie in the dvd player.
The actoress who the Mrs. said looked like a miniature Amy Adams actually played a younger version of Amy Adams’ character in sharp objects ! Such a great show
What a missed opportunity for the 2nd part.....ugh
That parents face noticing a young son losing his mind and taking his father's life xD
I really do love this movie. It's one of my favorites.
And I can't say what the oldest Your Mom joke is, but I can quote Shakespeare:
"Villian, I've done thy mother."
-Titus Andronicus
Funny thing is the girl who played Bev, Sophia Lillis, played a younger version of Amy Adams' character on a show. It was called Sharp Objects
Really liked that book and have HBO but somehow forgot the show existed. Thanks for the reminder!
I'd like to see you guys react to some Italian horror. Mario Bava. Dario Argento. Lucio Fulci.
Also, Once Upon a Time in the West.
The original Salem's Lot miniseries from 1979.
More Stephen King;
Cujo, The Dead Zone, Cat's Eye, Christine, Stand By Me, Sometimes They Come Back, Gerald's Game.
This new It adaptation is okay but I prefer the TV version.
YES! FULCI FOREVER!!!
Ummmm you for ..... Pet Semitary
@@IXSICNESS I disagree, lmao.
@@donnybuoy he has no character beyond "oooh creepy clown", even his design focuses too much on being creepy. He is tryhard creepy, and tryhard anything always fails at its actual goal.
Whereas tim curry's pennywise is actually designed to look like an unassuming clown that you could hire to work a birthday party. He also has actual character, he clearly takes great pleasure in scaring the children; its evident everytime he is on screen or when he talks to the kids. He sounds like he is having the time of his life whereas skarsgard sounds like he is just trying to be creepy.
Unassuming characters who clearly take great pleasure in the torment they inflict are always creepier than characters that solely exist to try and creep you out
@@IXSICNESS I will not be reading your unsolicited thesis, but thanks.
@@donnybuoy aaah so you are an idiot. Your take on the performance gave that away but thanks for confirming it.
You viewing a small amount if text, 3 paragraphs, as a thesis tells us all we need to know about your cognitive abilities
Bill Skarsgard was unbelievable as Pennywise. How those crazy movements & when his pupils go different ways , that's all him.
They always say you can’t beat the original but this remake is so freaking good. Really creepy and as the title says pennywise is definitely way scary. Bill Skarsgård was a great choice to play pennywise he nails it.
Who are they? I hate this hive mind bs. Listening to loud people
Both movie are different dealing with horror. While tv version use creepyness to put fear, the theatral version uses jumpscares. It comes to the viewer what type of method likes. I dont like a movie that just live in jumpscares to scare the viewer... both actor did a good performance and did their own thing...
You can’t beat the original. The original was the book.
This Pennywise isn't very accurate to the book but still awesome. Tim Curry was the better Pennywise but Skarsgard was the better monster.
@@GaOutlawVinyl Sure you can, just form an opinion. Myself I despise the idea of comparing. Comparison is the main limiter of joy. Try and have an experience instead of a label and you would have so much more fun mate.
id like to add - the young actress that played Beverly actually plays a young Amy Adams character (through flash back scenes) in a show called 'Sharp Objects' which i also highly recommend
I love Ritchie and Eddie in these movies. Also the girl who plays Bev played the younger version of Amy Adams’ character in Sharp Objects.
Eddie is great. He steals the show for me.
Used household water is in fact called grey water.
0:10 When I'm starting a chainsaw.....
Someone’s probably already said this, but “you’ll float too” is Pennywise’s subtle way of telling kids they’re gonna die. It lives in the sewer, the sewer’s full of water, and dead bodies float in water.
They REALLY should have cast Amy Adams as adult Beverly. I couldn't agree more.
Sophia Lillis played the younger version of Amy Adams's character on Sharp Objects. They do look a lot alike.
She's gonna be shocked she see it's not Amy Adams. lol
I thought Jessica Chastain did a great job.
FYI, Beverly's actress actually played a younger version of Amy Adams in HBO'S "Sharp Objects"
lol that was a funny reaction. I love how she covers her eyes almost every scene Pennywise shows up. I was like waiting for him to pull out a plushy and give it to her and she would take it and fling it across the room or something haha. I can just picture something like that with you guys!🤣I look forward to the second part of IT! Bill did a great job perfect casting for Pennywise.
Sophia Lillis (beverly) actually played a younger version of Amy Adams in sharp objects haha
I can't wait to see Mrs. Movie reaction. I guarentee after watching this, Freddy is going to seem like Mr. Roger's compared to Pennywise in her eyes🤣🤣
Freddy vs Pennywise vs Jason vs Predator
You guys the only one I no that did a reaction to this movie and doing reaction to both chapters including the old it you guys are the goat at the reaction y I always rewatch you guys reaction a lot
I love that u kept that bit at the end 😂😂😂
Mrs Movies laughing at everything Richie says is kind of a mood honestly XD
Love this movie sooooo much! Love the scares 😍
Ben's creature was The Mummy in the book.
There's an entire side story about a couple of brothers and the creature from the black lagoon in the book that is absolutely terrifying. It hasn't made it to the screen at all, but it might show up in the upcoming HBO series so I won't spoil it.
Yeah, the aftermath of that one was scary AF.
Yessss, been looking forward to this one for a while :D
I noticed on here that nobody's really done a movie reaction to Mr Mercedes series. Is another wonderful Stephen King book that should have its own review. Not sure if it would be a popular choice for the viewers but I just thought I would recommend it
Sophia Lillis/Beverly played the younger version of Amy Adams in the Sharp Objects HBO series. Excellent series, definitely recommend a watch.
