I have heard literally hundreds of performances of this piece of mine, but this is my favorite - so expressive and expertly performed. And your interpretation is spot on! Tempos and style are perfect! You nailed this! The piece sounds greater than I perceived it! Thank you so much!!!!! - James L. Hosay
Your words bring me great pleasure! I enjoyed conducting the piece, especially the clever construct of the fugue in its recap, leading to the grand ending of multiple counterpoints, is intellectually and emotionally satisfying. Thank you so much for your music!!! - Seow Yibin
Mr Hosay , this is one of the best compositions in my humble opinion . It'd be a great pleasure if you'd grant us the chance to listen to my junior college band's rendition of it titled 'SYF 2001- Victoria Junior college' . We played this 17 years ago and to this date this piece still evokes great musical euphoria and memories . Thank you !
I was in an Orchestra 8 years ago and Persis is always my favorite piece. Back then I was just like the guy playing the tambourine and suspended cymbal behind, and I get goosebumps every time the part at 6:53 begins. Many thanks for arousing lots of my great memories.
Here in Brazil, large brass bands performed this piece, the one that performed best was the Corporação Musical Lyra de Mauá, from the city of Mauá, in the state of São Paulo. And this performance has a lot in common with Lyra's performance, with a lot of strength, a lot of "grip", at the same time with incredible expressiveness. Of all the performances I've heard, from groups all over the world, yours is without a shadow of a doubt the best! Bravo! Bravo!
hi man! you played it yet? I have personally played this and performed this piece as well. it's a very hard piece, if your band cannot sound as perfect as this, I recommend you do not use this piece for a competition. it's either your play it and is good at it or don't play it at all. if you haven't then good lucky and practice hard!! all the running notes are hard and you have to express your sound with your emotions. :)
damn man would love to hear a recording. my band lowkey sucked at this 😔 no grace notes, no blending, out of tune, no emotions in their instruments. we played this for syf (Singapore youth festival) and damn I understand now why e couldn't get a distinction. 😂
I played timpani in this in my junior year of high school. Best experience of my life, until I got to play Xerxes on timpani last year, but Persis will still hold a very tender place in my heart!

The bass trombonist in this video has absolutely incredible tone! If you ever read this, from a fellow bass trombonist - you rock!

the epic part indeed
Few wind band conductors conduct without score, Mr Seow Yi Bin is one of a kind.

Healer CVS I haven’t played the song yet. It’s not my band I’m in it. We as a group are pretty damn good at this song.

When the one of the flute players comes to your school performs say their youtube channel and end up finding your school conductor..

Thought of saying the percussion gal was cute but then came the Oboe solo guy
Why are there three guys in the trumpet section not doing anything?
tacet
They rotate I think so that they don't get tired
bravo xyl
What orchestra is this?
