Currently using it now. I'm switching to Fujifilm soon, but I'll always appreciate what my M50 MK ii has done for my progression in photography and video. Great little camera 🤘
I've had the mark 2 for 2 years using a speedbooster, 50mm, and 70-200mm lens. It does me wonder, I'd say. I got it mainly for the compactness since i fly out a lot.
This camera has an amazing, no, an incredible array of features. So many options that it's overwhelming at first. To begin, you can just set it on the Auto setting and start taking pictures. I bought mine a year ago, but just started learning how to really use it a few weeks ago. There's somer great UA-cam videos detailing how to set it up and use it. You bought a really nice camera!
Just bought the Canon M50 mark ii, for $420 in like-new condition. Also bought a viltrox adapter to use my current ef and efs lenses :D I’m coming from an SL3.
I just bought mine used M50 like-new with a roll cage on it for $450 from a dedicated local Camera shop in Dallas. Holy shit it's insane how well built and snappy it is! I'm not too interested in Photography myself but taking pictures on a smartphone and trying to see the small details or zooming in when trying to take a picture always come out fucking garbage and it bothers me more than it should. Not saying that smartphone cameras are useless (I took some decent pictures with my Moto G5+ back in 2017 on COTA Race circuit) and can work in a pinch or casually but it's just not for me to take pictures on a smartphone. This is coming from a person who isn't dedicated to taking photos whenever I go all the time!
A little late to the party. I recently found a love for photography and creating art. I don't have a camera now but looking at getting an M50 Mark ii. Would this be good if I just want to shoot photos or are there better options out there? Don't want to break the bank
great review, and looking forward to watching more of your videos. I already have this camera, and have used minimally with an adapter and heavier lenses. I have been away from taking pictures for a bit. As I get older, I do not want to carry a heavy bag. What single lens would you recommend for a European city vacation? Thanks so much in advance!
Thank you! I was very impressed with the 15-40 kit lens I used in the review. The main downside is it's not very fast, but having a zoom on a vacation is always welcome if you are going from landscapes to portraits of family, for instance.
I want to use this camera for use in livestreaming, as well as standard photography to use for Graphic design, would this be a good entry camera for me?
Did you mean to talk of it like it’s not mirrorless? That was the main selling point for me! Also your accent brings me back to growing up in the tristate area :)
Sure! You would want to get a wide angle lens. You should also check out the Canon R10, it's a larger sensor and different lens system but there are more lenses available for that system. With real estate you want a wide angle lens so you can get an entire room in the frame.
Hey, I wanted a camera for traveling that can take good architectural photos and portrait photos. I came across the Canon R50, but it doesn't seem to take good architectural photos. Would this camera be a good choice?
Would you recommend this camera for a beginner food vlogger? What lenses should I get with it? I am currently stuck between it and the Sony A6400 in terms of budget😂
I’ve had my camera for a yr now it’s great but what lenses do you recommend for all around photography and low light? Also what is a good camera for all around photography that I can upgrade to? I want a second camera
Sigma makes some fast prime lenses that you should check out. If you are upgrading, check out the Fujifilm X series. That's what I use for all of my professional work.
Please can I film with canon m50 mark ii vertically for TikTok and reels? Also, when shooting outside do I need a filter? I don’t know much about cameras that’s why I’m asking. Thank you
Yes, but for something like that I would look at the R series cameras. You have more options for telephoto lenses and camera bodies that can shoot very fast.
I wouldn't use this camera for wildlife. It's really for vlogging, people, etc. You are better off with a Canon RF mount camera because you have a much larger selection of telephoto lenses which you will need. Check out this one: amzn.to/3NGoj45
Yes - you want to make sure to get a lens that has good close focusing ability. The kit lens that I reviewed in this video lets you get pretty close so it might work for you: amzn.to/46kO4zf
The 50 and 50 mk 2 use the same lenses so it shouldn't be a problem. Having said that, I am not sure what adaptor you are talking about so don't hold me to it lol
I am getting one tomorrow for my birthday. But i am stuck between the sony Zv1 and the canon.... i love makimg cinematic videos and doing photography... Help! Lol
All normal people are buying Canon R10 and R50... but not me. I already baught my m50 mark 2 two weeks ago. I have decided do these because l have no opportunities to do 4 k contant for You Tube because l don't want to spend my money for technical opportunities for keeping my 4k files. So my m50 mark2 with Digic8 can't work on hire ISO 3200 like new rf-s cameras with DigicX. I don't believe that they changed sensor, I think they lied and stayed a similar sensor with new processor. I have bought two lengths with adaptor viltrex ef-s 24 mm f2, 8 and ef 50 mm f1,8. So If we include crop 1,6, l have three focus 24 mm f3,5(from kit length), 38 mm and 80 mm.
This was a great review! I only came across this camera today and I’m looking to shoot gym content as I’m on online coach. Currently have a EOS70d but this looks like a really simple solution I’m lazy so I like to shoot in auto and just get real crisp images with nice bokeh- do you think this camera would suffice? Also- I’d love to know your lens you’re filming with for your office review, that is fantastic !
Thanks! You can get nice bokeh for sure but this is more dependent on the lens. You need something with a wide aperture. Check out the sigma lenses for this camera like this one: bhpho.to/45QSH3M
@@Fasttrackfitness1 Nice. That works too, just make sure you get a lens with a wide aperture (f/1.4, f/2.8) because this is what allows you to blur out the background.
Depends on what you want to do. This is super compact. Can’t beat that but you are limited in lens choice. The R system has a lot more lenses but also they cost more. You can’t beat how compact the m is tho.
It’s even better with the prime lenses.✨ Your statement that it has IBIS is erroneous. It only has digital stabilization, for video. I’m staying with the M series for the foreseeable future. I don’t need newer tech, and I like the size and image quality.
Thanks for the correction, James. I will see if I can edit that error out. I think many will be sticking with the M series like you - it really is an excellent little camera!
@@arnaudfonne7480 That depends entirely on what you shoot the most. I agree with Pete on Sigma lenses. My Sigma 56mm lens (90mm equivalent) is fantastic, but it's mostly useful for portraits. I like Canon's 22mm (35mm equivalent) pancake lens on a smaller M camera for it's discreet size and respectable quality. Canon's EF-M 32mm f/1.4 (51mm equivalent) apparently has the best image quality for the M series, but I've put off spending for one.
