Factors Mike McDaniel, Dolphins must consider with Tua Tagovailoa | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
/ nflonnbc
Miami is so stupid, why would they pay big money for a guy who has concussion background cmon...
hes black duh
so many GM’s over paying their qb when Pat isn’t asking for more than he’s been structured at
i know he’s got some increases but it’s because he’s now 12th highest payed or so. with him making so much even the Chiefs (best drafting team in NFL) struggle every year to balance the team checkbook
@spunn_co no, actually he isn't DUH!
You must be really naive. There are a lot of players in the NFL that have had multiple concussions
@@cag19549You are so correct, he did not have any concussions last year. But to your point, if the player can produce, they will play/pay him, it’s a business. Good thing health care isn’t a business.
If you're constantly getting concussed at 26... you've not only hit your peak, you're well past it.
There are a lot of players in the NFL that have had multiple concussions. Andrew Hawkins was talking yesterday about his multiple concussions and being placed on IR in 2015.
@@cag19549any of those concussions as extreme as Tua? Tua takes a routine hit and gets a concussion that is awful to look at. No responsible person would allow him back on a football field. Tua needs to join the broadcast booth.
Yep, can't argue that. If he still wants to play he's doing so at a great risk
NFL has rights as well. So strange to hear that Tua has a “right” to participate in a private sector business.
Have you never been to a theme park where certain people can’t ride certain rides?
Tua not retiring is just setting the dolphins back even more years of trying to have success. I have been a Dolphin fan for 33 years and I have been on the Tua train but enough is enough. The injuries are not just hurting him, its hurting the fan base and the players on the current roster. Having for hold our breath every time someone comes near him for the next 3 years isn't it.
Throwing 3 interceptions in a game has to be hurting the team/fanbase too.
It might not be in his hands to retire.
I don’t see the NFL letting him play again.
@@ARCtrooperblueleader the least likely outcome is that he is medically retired. Tua will likely be cleared to play again. And when he is he will probably return whether you agree with it or not. The Dolphins need to plan accordingly and start scouting some of quarterbacks for the draft in April because it’s likely Tua suffers another concussion at some point.
Tell the gm who offered the contract lol.
I'm riding with Tua until the wheels fall off. Don't care how many fellow dolphins fans are tired of Tua. He gave us the most exciting dolphins games in like 30 years
I agree with Florio, all the doctor can do is advise, but the ultimate decision should be Tua's.
The question Tua should ask his doctors is 'What will happen to me if I have one more concussion?"
They can't answer that question.
It is so sad. You know that he has had more than 3 concussions. I think his future is bleak. Money doesn't help.
I like Florio and Holley. More interesting than the other talking heads on other platforms
@@adamandreas5907 agreed.
Chris is looking really tan lately
Bring simms back
Coach Flores was right.
@@CapeCodPhilip The way Flores handled the Tua situation wasn't right, it was idiotic and foolish. I'm saying this as a fan that never wanted tua drafted in the first place but this should've been handled a better way
How is this even being discussed, enough is enough. Horrible look for the NFL.
have a great day michael
If I'm the Dolphins team doctor, I would say, "I don't recommend that you ever play again, but if you choose to, it's your funeral."
Why would they say something so unprofessional? They wouldn't know this.
@@cag19549 It's ultimately Tua's decision. The doctors can't force him to retire.
At least Miami was smart enough to take out a 50 million insurance policy on Tua
only protect the owner, does not protect the cap
@eagledrummer23 What owner? They never had one to begin with; just have a pathetic, inferior ghost. No, they truly are not an NFL team/franchise.
Great analysis
What about the former players that are urging him to retire, Holley?
What about them? It's really none of their business
Andrew Hawkins said yesterday that he was placed on IR in 2015 for a concussion. He talked about in on NFL Live yesterday.
As much as i like Tua we all saw this coming right, his body wouldn't hold up long enough to win with this roster in time & would have to start over new QB not being able to keep the roster together Tyreek/ Waddle
Does Chris just do Mondays now??
Yeah cause NBC wants him doing college football. This guy Michael is actually pretty good but there are others I just skip the day
@@TheChamrod04 He does Mondays and Thursdays
@@TheChamrod04like Myles
CTE isn't worth it.
Dolphins should have drafted Joe Milton!
I can’t watch Dolphin games if Tua is playing. The fencing makes my stomach turn. Hope he takes the money and lives his life
so when Tua gets back out there is he gonna be wearing a guardian cap? 🤔
Simms twice a week will kill this show
Mike you need to do more Ross actually is now living in South Florida after he passed on day to day of related to Beal and he established Related South oh yeah they also flipped one of their projects so there was less to do up there.
If youre going to go to what would Parcells do then you could go to Farve having over 1000 concussions. Wish yall could force sims to retire
Tua, like Dak, plays great against bad teams. So, Win-Loss records as a QB stat is ridiculous. That's a team stat.
Yea without Simms 4 days a week, PFT is kinda boring
Don’t watch. I watch it for florio
Agreed
No it’s much better without him
Gotta have Simms
I disagree
This new guys just says words. The most obvious takes that take forever for him to get to the point. Bring back Chris please.
Worked EMS for decades including a neurological rotation. At 26 a multimillionaire and 3 concussions he is risking everything especially his future if he continues football
Hopefully Tua will adjust and find other ways to contribute to the game. He was fortunate/unfortunate to have a coach change, if he continued with his first coach, he would probably be out of the NFL by now or on his third of fourth team. Unfortunately Tua simply does not have the body to play in the NFL. Hamlin, a slight DB, put him out, and it wasn’t a hard hit, routine. It’s sad really, but he did get a chance to have his day under Mike McDaniel, so hopefully he can count his blessings and move forward, easy to say!
Hamlin didn't hit Tua, why do you keep saying this nonsense? Tua hit him, after him hard head first. Accidents happen in football, and he slammed the back of his head into the turf which is what gave him the fencing response. He will be back, he is not a quitter and he just needs to not lower his shoulder anymore after scrambling for some yards
It is apparent to me that the NFL is headed for government regulation, because it does not know when to be responsible. The game is going to be ruined for the poor decisions of individuals.
Go get Jameis
Should he be forced to wear a guardian cap?
That's a placebo. They won't help those whiplash type concussions, which is what most of them are. It's like shaken baby syndrome.
It's reportedly in the contract miami can pay him for 25 and walk away voiding the other 2 years by march
This is simple. Tua is NOT to run the ball for any reason. His job is the handoff and throwing the ball. He is to avoid as many collisions as possible even if it means a loss of yards. Let's the running backs and receivers to their job.
He should practice throwing the ball away, sliding and wear a guardian cap for god's sake.
At that point he's not worth keeping
That is not possible in today's game. What's he supposed to do when he has a wide open run? You can't play with a giant liability like that.
@eagledrummer23 Tua just needs to slide, which he will this time. His career is not over yet, no matter how many people want it to be
Bro just needs to learn how to slide like a baseball player instead of trying to be a running back when running the ball. He's the franchise i don't understand how the coaching staff didn't fix these small little holes in his game when he already isn't an athletic QB.
Not blaming Tua
Miami should go get Bryce Young. They know how to play with a small QB and Bryce is perfect for that scheme
If a boxer gets wobbled in a fight no one says he should retire🤷🏽
Fr lol
Wobbled? Tua gets knocked out cold by seemingly incidental hits
That’s not true 😂 when they get rocked repeatedly and clearly is suffering everyone says they should’ve retired. When a boxer or UFC fighter loses their chin everyone says they should give it up you just haven’t paid attention
4 concussions is terrible, sure he can come back as some boxers did but he's taking a huge risk with his future as far as CTE or some other form of brain damage is concerned.
Yes they do when it happens over and over again.
This is going to drive McDaniel to drink!
Yea go ahead, blame everything on Tua. Regardless of what happens with Tua, hes giving me the most exciting dolphins games in my life, since Marino played 30 years ago
When players now make 55m a year, they are getting more than fairly compensated to play. Contracts need to be quite short so the teams can survive and still compete. Let’s remember the other team’s players and employees who deserve a chance to compete. This is why some teams like atl or pittsburgh are smart to have two capable qb on staff.
Teams with survive paying big money to players 😂
Man... I was one of the fans saying to express his 5th year option... so many fans and people got so defensive if you even said that... well look now... grier has set up the organization for future failure... there was no need to rush into paying tua such a massive contract.. we did not need to overpay and now we're in the worst possible situation possible.... I love tua and all and always rooted for him but come on.... the concussions were more than enough for me to have doubt and want to take on such a big RISK... YOU REALLY THINK HE COULD GO 5 YEARS WITHOUT GETTING HIT IN THE HEAD ONCE? YOU REALLY THINK HE COULD FALL JUST PERFECTLY EVERY TIME ? man, grier needs to be fired this season. The organization needs BIG CHANGE!!
If he didn't pay Tua and then Tua has another good year, they would have had to pay him even more. The contract isn't as bad as people pretend it is.
@@Ptrixle expressing the 5th year option was the better route to go
@@PtrixleYou should have never thought about paying him. He physically can’t do the job. Now you are screwed. This was an own goal, unforced error by this terrible front office.
I'm happy that Tua got paid, it aint your money, just leave it alone. He was becoming a great QB but injuries are the end of players. Tua still ain't retiring so I'm riding with him until the wheels fall off
@gregtrust5599 bro im not leaving nothing alone. Im stating facts and has nothing to do with his skill set.. he has proven him self but he has set him self up with one to many concussion. The wheels have fallen off.. The nfl and organization should take action with players with as many concussions that he has.
So...the dolphins have to pay Tua 80 million to retire? How does that make sense? Why doesn't he take that money and then "unretire" in a year?
If he retires for medical reasons they have to pay him, but if he retires for pretty much any other reason they don’t. He would actually owe them back some portion of the signing bonus he received
i heard it was 125mil .. dude retire ..wtf.. live youre life
To get the money a doctor has to say he can't play anymore. A doctor is not going to say you can't play football anymore due to the damages to your brain and then a year later be like go for it. If he comes back somehow he would still be under the rights of the dolphins
@@johaw105 not true..he can retire anytime he wants...in the scenario that the doctors clear him but he decides to retire anyways the Dolphins should not have to pay him anymore than the contract demands...the scenario being suggested is that Miami gives him a huge portion of it out of good will...even though they could reclaim his signing bonus if he retires early on his own accord
@@pl33 good clarification!
Here we go again...Phins still up!
Let's go Buffalo!
Florio is a jerk
There is no such thing as Stability and Predictability at the QB position in the NFL when it comes to injuries. Joe Burrow aThey only care aboutnd Lamar have both had 2 season ending injuries. Tua has only had 1. And will be back in 4 weeks. So who is next to be concussed? They happen every week and this is just week 2. There will be over 200 this year and none of them will be talked about or discussed by this channel or any other sports channel or betwork. Sports media doesnt care about concussions. They only care about making content off of Tua's injury. If Mitch Morse can play the Center position after 8 Concussions and no sports shows could care less to talk and debate if he should retire., then Tua will be good to go and play a long time. Its a shame what the sports media is trying to do to him. Tua didn't have his first concussion in the NFL until his 3rd year. Kenny Pickett had 2 in the first half of his rookie season and never missed more than 1 game. If Mike Tomlin was the Dolphins HC, Tua wouldn't be on IR and back on the field in 2 weeks tops. He doesn't put up with the sports media BS.
Go get Bryce that he is at his cheapest
give him 40mil or 10 mil
if u cant makeb10mil last youre life u should bever had 1million to start
Hes gonna make 167 million guarenteed lol and the NFL can't force him to retired. Tua is set for life, regardless he was smart with the contract he signed
Every game, Florio? Are you not living in 2024? Two games, maybe, of him playing and no concussion and everyone will move on and not think about it anymore. UNTIL, and if it happens again. Then all the finger pointing will rush back to the keyboards. That's how it will go.
Can't hav it both ways..clear you play..not u dont....
Bruh we want simms it’s football season!!!!!
Mike no this is want you want
Mike admit it you want Tua to retire because you never believed in him
Miami dolphins didn't even believe in him 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You seriously watched the last couple of Tua concussions on national tv and thought Mike Florio is just a hater? What? Seek help.
@@sheasheagaming1660Mike Florio and Chris Sims were always Tua haters and Tua proved they were both stupid
@@gregtrust5599 He did? How? By getting hurt? If anything he proves them right. He isn’t playing and his career is in jeopardy.
@sheasheagaming1660 no they never said anything about his injuries when Tua was excelling and leading the number 1 offense in the NFL last 2 years they were both proven wrong. Tua made them look like clowns lol, yall are the type to discredit Tua in the wins and blame all the losses on him. Over here, saying sEeK hElP, when it's obvious Tua proved you wrong as well. Tua is a baller and top 10 QB only getting better, regardless of what happens with him due to injuries you were wrong let it go. You're probably even the same clown saying Miami should've traded the whole farm for Cleveland Groper, that's working out great with the browns lol
The right to not take a vaccine
You're still crying about that? Trump lost twice
Mcdonkey can’t coach. Can’t even manage clock
Trade for Mac jones
Don't diss Bill.Parcells Mr.Softee ex.ambulance chaser Dr.Florio

Tua is not a winning player. He doesn’t understand or read defenses, which is why he sucks BADLY against good, tough defenses. This guy clearly doesn’t watch the Dolphins.
100% FALSE. Nice try though hater
@@gregtrust5599 oh. All you had to say was “false”. Explain to me why Tua looks so terrible against good defenses then.
I'll be rooting against Tua now sadly
No one cares you always did, get off the bandwagon. We are riding with Tua until the wheels fall off
It's a football injury he gets it all, why would you give up his earned contract....
A doctor has to make the decision he can't play anymore. If he retires without that it's his decision and the deal is injury guaranteed not fully guaranteed
Sims sucks
This year is a wash, forget even a winning season. And the Dolphins misery continues. Retire Tua, before you have CTE at age 35. Don't play Russian roulette with your brain.
The Dolphins should've called the Chiefs and made a deal for Wentz.
No thank you. Wentz is pure garbage.
Why do you guys feel entitled to his decision?
Why don't you just do the show by yourself!
Or you could just not watch
