Seriously. I just bought an og Xbox to play red dead revolver. My tv isn’t brand new, but it’s newer. It has av ports, but no av option to select from the home screen

Just FYI you don’t need the converter. The Green port on the tv shows Y / Video for a reason. It is a component/RCA in one port. You put yellow in green port, and audio as normal and tv will detect if it’s rca or component connection
Finally a very smart person. 🤝 I been trying to tell all this people you don't need an adapter 🤦🤣🤣🤣 they just see colors but don't even know what they mean. This setup works in any smart TV I play Nintendo 64 in any of my 2021 TVs with NO adapter
i'm pretty certain that the "Y" marking on the green colored input of a component does not mean yellow. you have the green one marked y, a red one marked pr, and a blue one marked pb. all the ones i've had if you plug the yellow composite a/v cable into the green, you'll get black and white pic. the tvs that are made to use the composite yellow vid cable with the tv's component jacks will have split color on the jack. it'll be marked with both green and yellow on the same jack. these are designed to be used as either composite or component.
I connected my Wii (using composite) onto the component inputs of my modern smart tv & it looks just fine, but I did it on my very slightly older normal tv & the image looks black & white & with some sort of interference, the audio is just fine though

So its not me the games dont look good on newer TV all Newer HD TV because there system were not designed to work on HD tvs is that correct ?

The system I bought only has a yellow (video) and white (audio) cord. I plugged the video in and the audio into the L or R audio ports. The video is coming through but no audio. Is it necessary to have both ports for the audio to work?
But the problem with that box is that it doesn’t support 240p which majority of old games like PS1 games are :( TV keeps having a flickering screen fit when I install this Box

Y is the symbol for Luma. If you see a mini DIN on some devices labeled "Y/C" That's for separated or S-Video. The same goes for the back of some Commodore video monitors. There's a Y for the luma (strictly greyscale) video and a C (for Chroma) to define the colours. Y/Pb/Pr or component divides the chroma into two for blue and red colours. Your TV you may have to go through the setup menu to reconfigure the composite video as it may only appear as black and white by default. Other TVs it probably does this automatically.
You didn't show at all what you need to connect into the back of the gamecube. Does something go into the AV slot or Digital slot? My gamecube is powering on but no image showing on the screen i've tried lots of different wires and adapters in the AV slot. I don't have anything that fits into the digital alot though, my TV even has the red white yellow slots in the back, i'm so confused.

all ive got on my sony tv all is av 123456..i got converter like that nothing happens still black screen hdmi works on my laptops no problem any advice people???
Dude some research before making a video would help. You don't need the HDMI converter. You can still use the Composite cable normally (yellow into the green) and all you have to do is choose YPbPr (Component) from the PS2 itself.
So I have question I brought me ps2 to hdmi and it’s good, I enjoy it, but I wanted to try and get the compatible cable, but my roku only have three plugs. Do I have to buy converter in order to work it or no?
Check your tv first before buying this kind of converter device. Your tv is “component in” only hence you need converter. my lg tv is “component in /av in” combo. In this case sticking yellow cable to green slot works just fine for me.
I know this is a year later, and perhaps too late, but are you sure that there isn’t anything you need to adjust on the TV to convert the component Y inputti standard composite? It seems weird that it would label it “Y/video” if it didn’t have that feature. There must be something to let the TV know, because a Y Luma signal for component is much different than the composite signal, so I’m guessing there must be something in the TV’s menu to adjust what signal to expect for the input.
I might have to get an adapter like this. I can plug my ps2 in just fine, but there are some consoles that don't seem to work with my tv. Perhaps that just means that I have a bad cable for the ones not working though. I'll have to find an old tube tv to test it on.
I have the exact same converter and the signal to the tv is a solid blue. The tv can still communicate with the DVD player I’m using, through tests you can do that turn off the device through the tv’s signal. So the video signal is shot. Have you experienced this before or have any suggestions on how to fix it?
