- Walkthrough of the recently concluded HP2 PC Extended Mod, showcasing most of the changes introduced. The majority of these changes are custom and they probably don't represent the original developers' vision.
NOTE: Some things in the current mod version may differ from what is shown in the video.

This mod requires the latest version of the "Metallicafan212's Harry Potter 2 Engine & Editor" to run. Gameplay was recorded at 1920x1080 resolution, borderless fullscreen, DX9 Renderer, and VSync enabled (60 fps).
The M212 HP2 Engine/Editor not only ships with a fully-fledged editor for the game, but provides support for DirectX 11 rendering, 64-bit, (ultra) widescreen resolutions, borderless window, horizontal+ FOV, uncapped framerate, X360 controller, and more. The New Engine/Editor will keep your game's language.
The Extended Mod is fully localized in the following languages: English UK (INT) and USA, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal), and Spanish. Text translations available in Polish, Russian and Ukrainian.

Entry Hall Hub
00:05 - Student informing Harry about Dueling Club has been moved to this stage
Grand Staircase Hub
01:15 - Petrified Colin can be found in the infirmary throughout the game
02:08 - Hermione won't be in the bathroom at this stage and only the cauldron is found, since she's attending Dueling Club. Same goes for Lockhart and Snape missing from their classrooms, though it's not shown in the video.
02:45 - Filch can be seen patrolling the second floor more often throughout the game
Great Hall - Arena
03:51 - The aesthetics of the Great Hall in Entry Hall (the "main" one) are matched in this arena version. Windows now have depth as they were previously flat, and the opposite ends feature wall decorations. In some frames you can see the skybox features a dusk setting, which is reflected in the windows lighting.
04:22 - If the chests in the main Great Hall were previously opened, they will display as opened in this version. It's the same principle behind the grounds synchronization.
06:26 - The infinite rebounding spell glitch is now fixed
06:37 - Just as in Part 1, even the dueling spells emit glow of the matching colour
06:41 - Ron and Hermione now clap
06:50 - The non-Slytherin students behind Malfoy in this shot now clap
06:56 - Draco now has a wand while performing Serpensortia
07:05 - New sequence
07:08 - Added Justin Finch-Fletchely among the students
07:11 - Harry now speaks the line in Parselmouth
Entry Hall Hub
07:38 - This sequence now takes place at nighttime
07:57 - Different camera shot, and Hermione and Ron no longer leave Harry as if nothing ever happened. Hermione also speaks a new line.
Grand Staircase Hub
09:20 - Hermione's bump lines "I need to study" or "I need to find a book" were replaced with this new line from the PS1 game
Grounds Hub
11:55 - As seen in the previous spell lessons, the spelltracing wand no longer faces downwards

Nice work! I think it would be a good idea to replace the dialogues where Lockhart and Snape mention the mouse and keyboard controls.
I don't think that's nessesary. The game already breaks the 4th wall a lot, and there's no point in getting rid of all of it.

@@wariolandgoldpiramid Harry speaks alone. And teachers talk to Harry. But where else do they distinctly tell Harry to press the keyboard?
I don't know how complicated it would be, but I'd love it if you can code the snake cutscene to be more book acccurate, with the snake attempting to attack on Justin, and then Harry hissing to "leave him alone" instead of "leave me alone".
I don't know how complicated it would be to code the movement of the snake / Lockhart casting the spell to lunge the snake; but it would be a good improvement.
Aside from existing animations (whether they could work or not it's up to debate) and considering the layout of the arena, the snake would either have to be much much larger (taller) just so it can reach Justin over the railing or I'd have to redesign the arena itself. I'm not changing level geometry unless it's absolutely necessary, as that's one of the lines I drew, and a huge snake with little animations and low poly-count would look just horrible. We have explored this idea with co-author Liuke, but we ultimately didn't think it'd work.
@@divingdeep39 yeah, that is totally understandable, and I wouldn't have expected that complex level of modding.
But, in theory, what if there was a cutscene of Lockhart cast a spell the snake to make it fling over the railing and land next to Justin? Maybe then the scene could look good?
@@wariolandgoldpiramid it might have been worth exploring if there were voicelines in multiple languages for Lockhart interacting with the snake, but none of the spoken HP2 games have done that.

Here's a few things I know off of the top of my head:
Different cutscene with one of the generic students mentioning duelling
Hermione's cauldron stays behind when Hermione's out of the bathroom
Expelliarmus is now cancelled if the animation stops for any reason (in the original game, pausing causes you to keep the spell reflection on)
UA-cam removed the comment or something. It was there earlier.
I type the timestamps way earlier than the video releases, but for some reason the pinned comment sometimes disappears

there's a pdf instructions document on which I spent hours and it explains everything step by step, filled with couloured images and arrows. On page 2 there's even a link to FusionFall84's video tutorial.
