i still think it will be very rare that i summon on an A level rate up banner but what do you guys think?
Each Rate up = 1 S rank or 8 A rank.... BUT each Epic summon is 1 S rank or 5 A rank.... It just seems much harder to get those A ranks ascended without the dream store
I feel they want to encourage people to pull from the A-Level banner. I'm glad that you can wishlist them right away and still potentially ideal for F2P since the regular banner is cheaper for 10 pulls. Do I wish they went to the Dream Store right away? Sure. Do I think they are making a mistake by not doing that? Not really. Might I be mildly biased since my first regular banner 10 pull got 3 Sorens? That's possible. >_>
If a broken a-level hero like odie or coco comes to the banner, i probably go for them. It also depends on how far in the season we are, since they should all come to the store at the end of the season. In that case i probably get myself somewith pulls, so i can ascend that hero to m+ with 15 more store copies
It's a bait to pull for a A level im 100% sure. Unless the character breaks dream realm numbers it's not worth. So many good S characters are coming.
It will also be rare that I summon on an S level rate up either… I already skipped two of them! ;)
At least in Nikke (whose systems are very comparable to AFKJ) one copy is enough, but because of the way the dupe system works I need to save 72-96k at a time and only summon on charI really like.
Pretty sure they're going to put the A levels in the shop later, this doesn't mean they're never going to be in there. I'm guessing we'll get more A levels and even S levels made available in the Dream Store / Arena store respectively. It's just that they're going to do it on a per season basis, to give more incentive to summon them when their banner drops.
I swear to god, it's as if Lilith wanted their own game to fail. They really made a game so good and hype at launch with so much potential in the beginning and with such a disappointment late game after a few months, so sad.
They always do this to their games, they kill it. Farlight86 for example, it was so good but they fucked it up

It was somewhated expected that we wouldnt get a rank straight into the store, for the exact reasoning of why you were initally skipping them. If they were in the store people wouldn't need to pull anywhere near as many copies if they could get their missing copies at the end of the banner from the store.
Now if people want the character they need to get them on the rate up banner the same way they would if they wanted a new s rank.

We'll find out in a couple of days, this will change the plans but not by much, at least Soren/Ulmus are EZ skips so it's not that painful, if it's a hyped A-level and their banner ends at the start of a month then we riot I guess XD

regardless of what the devs thoughts were, I'm glad A level heroes are as powerful as they are. I like this system much more than afk arena's where rare quality heroes are mostly not useful even on a new account.
Yeah, all these CCs and whales are a) being greedy and want the game to somehow be even more p2w than it is and b) misunderstand A-level heroes hardcore because honestly they're even harder to max out than S-level heroes with the amount of dupes they require. I have 2 S+ S levels while 0 A's (just M+ or S).
In my new account, pulled on Florabelle banner but she got stuck at mythic, I got S+ Rowan Granny and S Marilee, Korrin by day 55.
Honestly the opportunity cost of getting on A-rank hero to S+ is kind of a pain. Could be spending those DR points getting many other heroes to M+/S...
P.S. This account is suffering in Arena HAHA but decided from day 1 I wasn't gonna care except for my 20 matches a week... but still ended up hovering around Legendary 2/3 so it's not that bad

Funny thing is for me Ulmus has been putting in work with my team. He is a monster in Arena. The CC he helps add to your team helps you snipe the weaker enemies. I say tho if you have Granny you don't need him but seeing how I didn't have Granny he was useful to me.
he is definitely not useless. its just that he requires M+ to have that niche usage which still doesnt really help against scarlita teams but can be great against other teams

@@VolkinAFKJourney i actually feel he is himself pretty strong with scarlita because he cheats death once he is a rly good tank for scarlita teams that want to have full team survive for 15s i been eiroon/ulmus/damien/hewynn/scarlita just legit doesnt die and perma cc the strong part about ulmus that alot of players seem to forgot is that his CC is disabling while arden or eiroon only root.
I had moments in arena with him that enemy ranged heroes literally dealt 0 dmg cause they got perma hard cced
I think it would be great if they did go into the store after their banner, but I'm not too surprised that they aren't. I feel the wishlist method is a decent way to go for F2P/meh characters with the slow build of getting them from standard pulls.
Read the dev update, they mentionned S level and A level going into the emporium after the season so their banner is more meaningful on release, they will land there later in september/early october
They says they will be available in the Emporium in future seasons
It's odd, their other game (Lilith's) Dislyte went through this weird super communication hell for a long while. It's just kinda coasting community wise now. I'm not sure how they wouldn't see what's happened there and make efforts to prevent it here.

I think a good way for the systems to work is the following:
S-tier: All of them avaiable in the arena store, new additions have a ~10% premium cost until start of next season. (Instead of 9200 arwna coins they would be 10200 arena coins).
A-tier: All of them avaiable in dream store, new additions cost ~10% more until start of next season. So for example Soren gets added now for 1350 essence, and is down to 1200 essence at the start of next season.
This way you can always immediately obtain any hero, but it'd be a higher price earlier on (mainly to incentivice spending if you want it quicker so the devs still get what they want out of it but F2P and low spenders gan still go for a unit if they really love / need it).
I would love if I could get my last Eironn copy that I havent been able to get for a momth now, I'd easily pay 15000 arena coins for it.
If I like the character I pull honestly.

01:20 That's a very good question, since... honestly? Rarity doesn't have anything to do at all in regards on how good the hero is. Odie is not worse than Atalanta. Lumont isn't better than Antandra. On that vein, I don't get why people get so angry about us getting a new elite hero. Does it even matter in terms of power?
Whales dislike being close of F2P, they wanna drop their wallets in unbalanced char wich broken the game and some sort of F2P think if they save for broken char, they will rise in game and have some chance against whale wich is a dumb Dream. I like how the game is balanced but i think the Main issue is peoples using one comp and its normal in every gacha since i started play it in 2011-2012.
Backing in my 1st years in gacha, few peoples tried different team. We dont had those high numbers of UA-camrs, so players was aware of "Will this char be good for my account?"
And now we see "i wont pull till some UA-camr says it is good or no."
I ignored some of those saying Alsa wasnt too great cuz she die fast at start and i just jumped from 10 to top 2 arena from my server as low spender. At start i ignored ALL those Cecia tips and focused in Arden and Eiron mostly and i was rewarded.
Ulmus looks great, would be a new breath for my account but i wont pull for A rank since its not too hard and will can get him later, but i actually peoples are mad in meta and only right counter meta is using Eiron yet. I mean for defense.
You said Lumont is worse than Antandra, but in what type of team? Lumont is great pushing for Soren, Alsa and some type of "invaders" chars. Antandra is better in back chars for ranged. Atalanta is good with char like Eiron, that include Alsa, cuz of her double sweep and Soren. Most of peoples are afraid to invest in Weapons, so char wont do miracles.
With the maths u did with 6.75 let's say u get 6 pitys and 1 early ... For S level hero u can get them to mythic and 1 copy and A level to mythic + and 13 copies ....so in a season you would be able to get 2 heros of ur choosing to supreme+ theoretically and I say that due to the banners only lasting 3 weeks but u saved up more than 3 weeks to get the summons u have now... With that being said u still would get 2 heros in a season but depending on how the heros are release an OP hero can drop before u have the resources to m+ or s+ them
I have 115 tickets for rate up banner that im not using because a rank units dont feel as "exclusive" and i also think after the feedback for soren and ulmus that they'll put a powerful unit in rate up soon
They’re not putting them in the dream store to create fomo. Altho I have no problem skipping them if they’re mid. At least we can still wishlist them. The problem with waiting until end of season is each season is so long.
This makes new S and A characters just as expensive to get... then what's the point of differentiating them?
You could even say new A levels are harder to get considering Epic summons only give 5 copies of them instead of 8....
Hey Volkin, a thought for a future video; there is a lot of AFK journey jargon you use. It might be good to explain various things to newbies (like banners, pity pulls, 2x deficits etc).
I hope they don't fail us again like they did with Dislyte.
I’ve been seeing a lot of folks fixating on what specific units lack in these rate up banners, but the glaring point that I hope Lilith tweaks over time is the balance relating to tanks. Thoran is pretty much a mandatory unit because of his three lives/massive dmg potential. No other tank has anywhere near his survivability on their own. Anything else gets one shot and that’s it for the entire fight.
The point being, tanks dying instantly needs a bit of a look. Most of us are pushing around 60-90 level deficits in afk and there’s not a lot you can do to make progress aside from niche tanks/zoo comps to eat all the one shots to give your dps time to work.
Imo, tanks across all factions need to be tuned up to thoran level viability so we can use diff comps and play around, and for gods sake give us a graveborn healer. Niru doesn’t count lol. Need an actual aoe heals for them.
You’ve got the best self control to not impulsively spend all your diamonds. It can be so easy to just invest into the travelogues/growth bundles. You can buy them to get advantage but choose not to.
Anyone familiar with CDproject Red developers? Lilith is apparently aspiring to be like them releasing cyber punk. Lol let's see how much I can shoot my own foot... Riiiight...
Just got Soren from a soulstone at least. Not sure if he was available while he was on rate-up, but it seems like he's at least half-way rolled out.
I understand why the devs might not want the A-levels to go right into the store, as it encourages people to pull on those A-level banners. That said, they haven’t made it clear if/when nee A-levels will go into the shop. This is again another communication issue. There seems to be too many of those these days.
I'm also having a f2p account and saved almost all diamonds (I'd say 80%) since day 1. Day 39 now and thanks two the two world bosses I finished the main game (the 4th area, Remnant Peaks) in around 35 days with today being the day I get my last hero to level 240
97000 diamonds (thanks to codes and events) and 44 limited tickets. Like recommended in guides, I only spent diamonds in the shop for reduced summon tickets and nuts. Well, and sometimes afk rewards to get more income to level up.
Let's wait and see if the game is worth more time or if it'll die sooner or later
Why would you save your diamonds at the start of the game? that will slow down you progress and affect your rank in arena/dream realm = less rewards

35 days to finish the main story sounds good and I already maxed out my gear, just finished my last 240 hero and I also got Cecila to her max ascention tier (with Odie being at myth+)
Did the same for the game Snowbreak (saved almost all digicash, it's like diamonds in afk jorney/arena) and was able to get one of the best heroes and her weapon as soon as her limited banner was online again.
So as soon as we'll get a S or even SS tier hero in afk journey's limited banner, I can easily get that hero to the highest ascendtion (86400 diamonds for 320 summons)
I maxed him out. I don’t regret it. With Alma and Ranier he’s a terror in Arena
Its very simple answer, the dev have to keep the whale happy - Rate Up Banner is about accessing heroes faster than anyone else and likely target audience are the people who pay. Yes it is ok, to put them into circulation in the All-Hero Recruitment, since it is RNG base. But putting in Dream store undermines that effort (early access thru resources, and rng base in general pull system)
but with A levels you still get 3 week early access by summoning them. then u can only buy 15 from the store before monthly reset so thats only equivilant to about 2 hits on the rate up banner. even if they added them straight to the shop u are looking at about 2 months til F2P can reliably build them through shop and normal summons. this just expands this out to 4ish months. so its a matter of what you find to be a long enough leed for P2W compared to allow F2P to still enjoy characters. its a fine balance. and keep in mind this is only for M+, we aint even considering S+ which is another level of paid advantage
This is why the game is dying already. I have multiple characters, some server my guild mates have stop playing. This is why the CC pairings and synergies are pretty much empty, because people have started to leave the game. Devs only cater to specific people is great, but what about the 99% of the population lol.

Today, the guild I was part of since day 1 on my server and was top 1 by MILES before the season, basically disbanded. A lot of people who were actually "try harding" quit in the course of this week/last week, 4 whales went to 2 different guilds... anyways... people are not happy and the game is going downhill with no brakes.
They said that After the Season every a Level Charakter is coming to the Shop and that its gonna repeat itself

Honestly this whole season thing is a complete disaster for afk journey, I was having so much fun before the season, but in this new season thing I just lost most of the excitement & enjoyment, maybe its just me.
The only thing that bother me in the game is the fact that you can't sell your extra copies of champ , i got for exemple my oddie suprem+ but i can do nothing with the two more that i pulled after that
ive been asking myself that for awhile. WHAT is the difference between A level and S level heroes other than the way to obtain them. I really do not understand why they would separate them like that

I'm free to play and just been enjoying new characters to get them in my account. So far in the community they want a broken character that they been saving up "diamonds-tickets"...then next month have another broken character....the community will cry about it. I'm fine with the dev doing with what they are doing.....next question for edit I could see a broken healer then tank then dsp but I wouldn't like a broken character for a f2p while I'm still need one more reiner to mythic plus. I know I'm the minority but would like your thought
Skipping Rate-Ups really F's up your Acorn income as I didn't spend rate-up summons on Soren. This happened while getting ascensions several Mythic+ to Supreme heroes that I'm invested in since I wanted to stay competitive in Daily's and get those Mythics to Supremes for the stats.
And YES, I spend my Acorns conservatively by not ascending Lower S-Levels that I'm not interested in investing in and not ascending A-Levels from Mythic+ to Supreme when I'm not invested in them.
I was able to edge things out luckily and have enough Acorns to get the primary heroes I needed to ascend. Luckily, Ulmus is a decent enough unit to use my rate-ups. Hopefully I can start recouping my Acorns so it's a non-issue.
With that being said, I'm not saving past 1 Rate-Up. If I were to skip Ulmas after skipping Soren, It would completely mess with my steady progression because I would run out of Acorns and there are still lots of Heroes I want to invest in to compete in different modes.
So food for thought.
thats fair, i personally havent had acorn issues yet and im happy with all my build levels. luckily the new event gives a bunch
It's not a Rate-up problem... saving gems in general is the problem. If you don't use them on rate-up or standard, like you said, you're f****d. There's no other way to get decent amounts of acorns other than 10 here and there from the tower. Also not pulling means you get less dolly tickets (or whatever they're called) per month which means you don't get to buy all the pulls from the store (not counting the 10/10 regular ones, no F2P should buy that).
That's why I hate their system. A-rank heroes should never be on a rate-up banner unless it was running along with a S-hero. Space them out a little more instead of throwing a billion units per 'god knows how many days they said - already forgot'.
@@VolkinAFKJourney Oh yeah, I'm dumb. Didn't take in account that if you don't pull you also don't have a lot of units to build which means you don't run out of acorns. My wall of text was all for nothing. Gonna blame it on being 2:50am, yeah... sure thing!... (Holy shiet I'm dumb LOL)
@@WhatssupYoo I agree with this assessment, but saving gems and not pulling rate-ups (specifically the ones you get "for free") is doubly bad if that makes sense.
It's less of a problem if you are happy with the ascension level of your heroes, especially if you didn't make any bad investments early.
But most players, like me, make at least 1 or 2 bad investments which then means we need to make up by investing in a hero that works a little better.
I'm also top 20-50 (server) in DR and top 50-40 (server) in Arena and trying to maintain that means that I need to have a variety of viable heroes at a high ascension.
Can you figure out why they removed the shortcut feature when when you hit the 3 little dots you can replace your heros. They removed this from dream realm and trials among others. It's annoying af now to play.
The thing is if they just throw them right in what's the point of ever using rate ups on a level...
imo, all those diamonds and missed pulls could've missed you the oppertunity to get some nice meta characters up already. saving for a Rate up pull as a f2p is not the way -.-

I am amused that every comment section is filled to the brim with the same people saying that the game is dead over and over. If the game is so dead, why are you still playing it? Are you still going to be saying the game is dead a year from now? C’mon, guys.
I’m starting to think the real “free to play” experience is just farming likes on UA-cam by repeating the same complaints every day. It’s like google is giving you all a log-in bonus.

I’ve been saving since the game released and it’s looks like I have to keep waiting. They just keep releasing boring units that nobody cares except Phraesto, he’s really cool.

Personally, I don't mind if the heroes don't go IMMEDIATELY into the shop after their banner is complete... maybe wait a couple weeks for people to replenish some summons and whatnot so we aren't just burning resources constantly one after another. But I do get why you'd want that, especially with how you're playing the F2P account. Good luck man!
So why should A level heroes be available directly but not S level ones? Both coming from rate up, both requiring you to roll several times to get the hero to the level you want. Why think they are different? This is interesting.

I don’t know what is he saving for. A power creeped hero so he can get it right away? You know that many characters have to take effect after M+. This is preventing his account for proper growing, bring more characters to M+, especially knowing rate up banner gives you much less A level heroes and so far there’s no that “hyped” characters so far. This strategy is delaying this account’s progress and hurts the account in a long run. To my opinion, all diamonds either goes to shop for essence or a small amount for afk speed up, all others into the standard pool.
I’m simply disappointed in their communication. I don’t know when these characters will be available in the shop, MAYBE in the next season but who knows. I just want to understand so I can make these decisions with out worrying about the unknown.
Barry did test with same teams thoran and uk us afk stage 1000 every time uk us was better more survival

The champion store does not reset daily, but monthly, so those 5 extra crystals are kind of useless

Ulmus isn't even that bad of a unit, we're just past the point where a hero like him makes sense to invest in.
Also another hero for the Eironn comp just feels rotten to me. I suspect that they plan to wait till the low spenders and f2p are heavily invested in it, and then they'll introduce heroes that counter it.
I got him to supreme and was expecting him to be in there but was let down big time.. I only needed 10 more for supreme plus 🤷♂️ it’s whatever
If they dont want to release a unit like a melee or mage Odie tier, people will soon get bored and tired of waiting that they will even forgot to play the game even from time to time.

Im pretty sure its been stated that new character releases get added to the shops once the season they are released in finishes.
@@VoxolMystic but that's still too long like Volkin said. The season lasts 3 months so the only way to get Soren now is to hope you get him from summoning on any banner given you have him on wishlist. So far we are only a month into the new season, so basically we have to wait 2 more months for Soren to show up in the dream store. That's just way too long of a wait if people want to get him to S+ that did not summon him when he had his own banner.

There isn't to much to think. They just want more money so that why that work that way. The gatcha system of Afk Journey is the worst think about the game, so having more and more bad system like this A caracter not in the store isn't a surprise to me ( sadly ) ...

yeah we gotta hold the L rip my 20k tears for no reason now but this with the afk progress nerf we forever gated towards some bad practice like what we need to wait till the next A rank to leave rate up to get soren or we just never havin him come up

Hey guys I need some help, what do I get to mythic plus after odie, is it Marilee or Koko? Because I know Koko is really good in seasonal dream realm and for me in my server song of strive is starting in 2 weeks please help with your opinions!!

After day ~35 you can start to push your arena rankings even as a f2p, because you can hit the "max lvl" gear/units. The normal arena does not scale with the season levels/gear, so everyone has pretty equal stats (sure whales might have higher level signature weapons/some paragon units), but top 20 is possible for sure :).
It also depends on the amount of whales on your server. He wouldn't be rank 16 if there are people spending large amount of $ pushing their account to paragon+ teams.
Most whales are on day 1 servers. The later servers like this one have way less whales.
@@sammmB9 the server im on is still one day away from the world boss and has a fair few people in endless mode already for dream realm :(
i like tht being the only difference, A level heroes are just obtained slightly differently than S level heroes, at the end of the day a maxed A rank and S rank will be approximately the same power. Eventually there will be a not bad A rank hero tht will be worth pulling in the rate up. This guy doesnt seem good like Soren so another easy skip

I got Ulmus in 3rd pull, lucky yes, but I want only one copy and hot him. As soren but for him burned like 30 pulls for only one copy and i never used Ulmus and Soren on battlefield. For now I will never pull A useless banners. My fail but l learned lessons from my bad. Its Feel like they giving everything just for banners exists. Second is they dont marketing them or something, cringe af

Volkin, I hope you see this comment and at least consider what I am about to say. To the best of my knowledge AFKJ has been in the works since 2020. Lilith clearly put A LOT of thought in to this game, balancing everything. They likely have years of content on their servers or at list in their math models. They clearly collect a lot of data. Every company of their scale does these days. Whatever they do, we all have the same initial conditions and limitations. Why do you have so little trust in them? Why not focus on how to best play the game as is instead of constantly regretting that we are not getting enough free sh*t? With the games of this nature there always will be an artificial scarcity of something. Absolute numbers don’t matter. Lilith is clearly trying to build a new game, set new standards and give us a game we can enjoy for years. Giving feedback is fine and important, but how about giving some credit as well?
Yeah not sure what the devs are thinking, the A levels should be put in the dream store right away. So basically now the only way to get Soren is if we summon on any banner as long as you have him in your wishlist, that's the only way to get him. Which doesn't make sense, do they want us to wait another month for them to be put on the dream store?? Every time something new is release on this game it seems they are just making us shakes our heads.
I mean if you wanted him, you should've pulled. They have 0 incentive for to put him up for free immediately after his banner ends because you wanted to not pull on him. Kill the idea that A-levels are inferior because a built A-level is just as strong or stronger than some S-levels

The disparity of the dev is they are catering more to whales than 99% of the player who spent very little or nothing at all. They don't lose anything if they put A levels that had their own banner straight to Dream store. Remember it still cost people 1200 per copy. I have spent $350 on this game and Soren isn't someone I need on my team.

I just realized, that actually they did not get back to back A Level. Maybe they Put Ulmus as an A Level-Banner because of release of Phraesto, where some people put money into. Sure whales dont care they just buy their Charakters till max and go on, but those low spending people or F2P coud use their ressources on Phraesto. So i think they will Put an A-level Charakter every time a Celestial/Hypogean or normal class S-Level Charakter releases.
This woud also mean that we get like 4 S and 4 A per season roundabout

Well, not really. I get your point, but the dream store has limit of 15 copies per month. First of all, you would have to have 18 000 fragments just to buy that 15 and it would also take 3months of buying to get to mythic+ level, because you need like 45 copies for that
