The first call talking about divine justice had me thinking of a quote i like, but don't remember the source for "If you need the threat of Hell to not steal or kill, then you're not a good person, you're a monster on a leash."
They aren't, but they are indoctrinated that they are. When you got them to think that, they are scared to death to think on their own ever again. Amanuel thinks only in single Bible slogans, he cannot connect one to the other, that is not allowed. But he is conditioned (hardwired) so much that he does not perceive that anymore. His brain just sets out working when you tell him "You say that, but 10 seconds ago you said that, and the two contradict each other, are mutually exclusive".
It truly is ironic. Theists set on this moral high horse, but practice the lowest form of morality. A young child might not do something because of punishment, but, as a person gets older, they should learn the reasons why something should or shouldn't be done and make decisions based on more than just reward or punishment.
Yes!...unlike the other theists who call in with logic and new arguments? I'm definitely just playing devil's advocate as im tired of hearing this dude's voice, I do think he serves some purpose tho, hopefully a theist caller hears his nonsense argument for the 4th month in a row and says "that's enough, im throwing my bible out".

Host: explains how something is both poorly thought out and deeply morally wrong about Amanuel’s belief. Amanuel: Oh no trust me it’s WAY more poorly thought out and WAY more morally disgusting than that!
Amanuals call Sounded pretty smart with Shadows of Darkness behind bookshelves. His brain is not equipped to be fully competent. Actually, mentally retarded or autistic people can be taught things and remember them well but on a 1 track setting only meaning they are limited to many different understanding things combined in one setting. and yes they have the capability to become assholes. Amanual is very Proud of making the call because he knows it's better to be called an asshole than the preferable look possible autism retardation. Sorry, but my relative is just like him relatively and diagnosed with it.
Ya'll need to stop taking Amanuel's calls. The kid is so brain washed he doesn't know how to have an actual conversation and he's too scared of being trapped he can't actually answer honestly, even if he had the ability to answer honestly through his indoctrination. He needs therapy, not atheist shows for him to feel like he's evangelizing.
I think his only function is to make his religion look as awful as possible. It might be an unintentional function, however. But I really hate to listen to him as well!
Dave Warnock said after he called into his show on The Line that he lacks empathy, and I'm inclined to agree. He consistently argues that if god is good to him, it doesn't matter how he treats everybody else, he is justified in calling him good and loving. It's very "fuck you, got mine."
Agreed. Ammanuel consistently and reliably avoids answering questions and always endeavors to evangelize by reading New Testament verses. Ammanuel is so lost in kindergarten apologetics and shows no capacity to have an honest, good faith discussion. Enough of his nonsense and ignorance already.
Forrest's silent contempt is not lost on me in the beginning of this. The silence was deafening and made me respect him 1000% more if that's possible. Very professionally handled

I was brought up in a non religious house in Scotland and when we started to get religious education (RE) at school when I was about 10 I asked my mum for a bible. When I started to ask questions in RE the teacher got really cross and asked me to stand in the corridor on a regular basis as he could not cope with questions from a 10 year old.
I was born in Ireland to an Irish Catholic family and had to go to Mass every week, confession too, communion, confirmation - at no point, even from the age of three, did I ever believe any of what my parents and family believed and often used to openly mock it, in a slagging kind of way. And, that was even long before I saw a load of the stuff that was in the bible (catholics, rather sensibly, don't tend to bother with that book; because, it doesn't suit them for people to read it; because it's lies aren't well-constructed or convincing ones). When I flicked through the bible, none of its boring and earnest yet, also, culty characters moved me in any way, other than Zachias, and that was only because I interpreted it as him spotting Jesus and his boring wankers coming towards him and climbed a tree to avoid them; but, was spotted and harangued and had to invent a cover story. For secondary education went to a state school in England and, in RE, they taught us about all of the main religions of the world. At the time, I realised that they were doing it with the laudable goal of showing us that there was a plurality of beliefs in our society and we should respect all. However, I also thought that, if they wanted us to respect these eegits, then they shouldn't tell us the stupid things they believe in. To this day, I still mock everyone else's deeply held stupid beliefs (it's fun!) andO encourage them to do the same to mine. I even list them for them: 1. Plausible stuff. It's a short list.
When I got to sixth form, there were some Christians, and these were, like, actually bothered one way or another - they would meet once a week and they would even invite evangelist scammers from America to come in and evangeliize at them, and they would go on something called crusader camps, and everything. Of course, I used to take the mick out of their god and their Jesus and their beliefs and what have you - it amused me, it amused them, too. Anyway, one day one of them said something like: if you say the lord's prayer backwards in front of a mirror, then the devil's face will appear in a mirror; so, I decided to try it and see if it worked. So, I wrote out the Lords prayer backwards and went into the gents and started reciting it the mirror. A friend of mine who was also atheist and seemingly enthusiastic was there, standing half in and half out of the door. He kept losing his nerve and going out and coming back in, which I found odd. I reached the end of the recitation and, naturally, the devil's face appeared in the mirror. So, I went and told the Christians that they were right, and, what's more, he looks the spitting image of me, except that I have a dark freckle on my right cheek and he had one on his left cheek.
My mother is not religious but was friends with a deeply religious person. Her friend took us to what I realise now was a commune of sorts, a nice enough place but filled with deeply religious people. Nice people, but not one could give me a straight answer to any question. I was not a well liked 8 year old for that week. A lot of these people listen to preachers but have not read the bible. My mother apologised to me a few years ago when I reminded her of our trip.
I'm convinced Amanuel is only calling shows to wind up the hosts and lead them on a merry chase as he jumps from one topic to another. Thanks for cutting him off, Seth!
He's openly admitted he's aware he might not change any of the hosts' minds and calls in because it's his divinely assigned duty to keep trying regardless, and that not doing it would doom him to hell. In the '30s there was a stand up comedian who would goose-step onto the stage, raise his right hand, and say, "Heil... What was that guy's name again?"
Or Charlie Chaplin's film The Great Dictator... A blatant and obvious satire of Hitler put out in 1940. Dude had balls. Also just a great movie in general. Very funny.
These two guys together are an AWESOME combination. I love both of these guys, they're smart as whips and they both have super-cool personalities. I hope they team up more in the future.
The first five minutes are very funny to listening to!Amanuael is a good example what religion does to people, unable to think in a sceptical and rationale way!
Amanuel's biggest misunderstanding with his own analogy is that "I would think he's good if I were getting gifts and knew nothing about the torture that goes on in the basement." Well, Amanuel, the problem for you is that you indeed *do* know about the crimes in the basement...and yet you still call this entity "good" even while it does heinous atrocities. Luckily for all of us, it is just fiction and we don't have to concern ourselves.
Amanuel absolutely thinks his slavish devotion to his bully-thug "god"will insure his place in paradise while avoiding hell and death etc. He's only concerned with his imagined 'redemption" which makes him believe and spew the most ridiculously childish myths and excuses for the horrible behavior of his patholgical deity,,
The usefulness of atheism (as a skeptic position) is that it inoculates people better against wacky beliefs than religion. Not a bad thing, if you ask me.
I think that's the work of skepticism, rather than atheism. Atheism is just the lack of belief in deities, and an atheist could have that position for wacky reasons. In reality, most atheists base their position on insufficient evidence for deities. But even among us with that basis, there are anti-vaxxers, racists, misogynists, homophobes, transphobes, etc.
What a great combination: Seth and Forrest. I never have seen or heard trashing believers with so much humor, without putting them down. And not only I was laughing.
This is my imaginary friend, he created everything, he is love, worship him. Sure there are plenty of people who claim to have imaginary friends, but mine is the only REAL imaginary friend.
As a disabled disbeliever, I find Nikol's question to be very obtuse! Just because one's body isn't perfect doesn't mean their life is meaningless! What about those who are in perfect physical health but such terrible mental health that they live in pain daily? There are too many grey areas for his question to even be feasible.
This is definitely one of my favorite pairings of hosts on this show. Their styles of debate and addressing things are so complimentary to each others. Amazing and could watch hours upon hours of this.
Thank you Forrest for telling the story about Adam and Eve and how the God character lies the the serpent tells the truth. That of itself tells any discerning reader that the original sin was committed by the God character not the woman or the man. Plus the god character wants people to stay stupid so they will worship it. At least it got something of a win there with so many people preferring "faith" over "knowledge and facts".
Right?! I fucking love pointing out that God lied, but then people start wiggling around in the context or the symbolism like 'They died spiritually' or something like that. Some people even dare say that God did not create the serpent but Satan did, which is not true at all because Genesis 3:1 literally says God was the one that created the serpent. It is such a bafflingly weird story.
When I first heard about this, I realized the moral of the story was "don't try to gain knowledge" and I was like wtf. It could have been anything : the forbidden fruit of murder, or something, but no, it was about knowledge and becoming smart. That was a huge red flag.
@@raysalmon6566 really because god punished Adam and Eve for gaining the knowledge of good and evil. What type of idiot would punish its children when they had no understanding of disobedience?

As Bertrand Russell once said, “No satisfaction based upon self-deception is solid, and, however unpleasant the truth may be, it is better to face it once and for all, to get used to it, and to proceed to build your life in accordance with it.”
I would love for forest to put a paper elephant behind his book shelf so he could be technically right and one day use it as another proof about how people are easily fooled by words.
Nikol - when theists learn to mind their own damn business, we won't care what you believe. Not believing in nonsense is very useful to keep from being conned. Fantasy can be fun sometimes, but it is very limiting and dull. Wishing something was true, does not make it true.
Maybe this god should know not to put a couple of forbidden trees in the middle of a garden with people who don't know right from wrong yet, and a talking serpent that they will actually listen to instead of running away from it scared sh*tless. It is like a parent putting a baby in a crib with a loaded gun, telling the baby not to use the gun, and then putting their sibling in the room to show them how to use it. Whose fault is that when they get shot?!?!?
I like the Bene Gesserit description of “the voice” as the iron fist in a velvet glove. Seth has it in spades. I love the combination of Seth and Forrest. See you at Cracker Barrel?
For the "Change one word" challenge, I'd change shalt to shan't in any of the 10 commandments. Like "Thou Shalt Not Kill" To "Thou Shan't Not Kill".... In other words, "Kill". Same with adultery, covet, steal, lie about someone in court. If anyone is confused, shan't is the proper contraction of shall and not. So thou shall not not kill is the same as saying, Thou shalt kill. In other words.... Kill. In the bible, you can get a lot of mileage from changing shall to shan't.
33:30 I'm reminded of a quote from the 90s sci-fi show Babylon 5. One of the characters comments that he used to lament at how unfair the universe is. But then he realized that if it was fair, than he must have done something to deserve all the bad things that have happened to him and are going on at that point in the series, and so now he takes great comfort in the general unfairness and hostility of the universe.

😂😂😂 best quote ever, thanks to the unknown? author.
I wouldn't even call it a quote but common sense. 😇
It truly is ironic. Theists set on this moral high horse, but practice the lowest form of morality. A young child might not do something because of punishment, but, as a person gets older, they should learn the reasons why something should or shouldn't be done and make decisions based on more than just reward or punishment.
Amanuel doesn’t deserve airtime on any program. His arguments are repetitive and nonsensical.

I had the same happen to me as well I always got kicked out of the class that was teaching about Jesus because I made Jebus jokes 😂
Wow, great teacher 🙄
I hope you also had some good ones.
Of course, he also believes in pre destination, so at the end of the day he might go to hell anyway, but he thinks he should live serving his god regardless. It's sad and pathetic and illogical, but in some ways, as much as some might find him annoying, he's also a regular reminder of what fanatic, blind faith leads someone to sound like.

Ammanuel figured out the trick. If you don't interrupt the hosts will let you preach. His preaching shouldn't be allowed.

I love when the caller says "You probably haven't heard..." and Forrest says, "I bet you I have..." then shuts down the caller.
I'll finish it for you Forrest. 34:30 "Shit yourself to death!" You're welcome.
38:31 Apart from Jeffery Dahmer. According to Christian logic he’s in heaven right now.
Along with Innumerable pedophile catholic priests who had their cake and ate it too.....
While an innocent Jewish girl who suffered greatly while still believing in basic human decency is now suffering exponentially greater torture because she was born in the wrong place. Don't forget that NEPy asserts that this is just.
