Low Ranked Hunters, who haven't been scouted by the guilds are basically freelancers, and tend to only have access to E and D ranked Dungeons, dungeons that are too low-end for the Guilds to bother with. Guilds are like Private Corporations/Businesses of Hunters that tend to tackle higher end Dungeons, like C and up. The "Hunter's Association" is the Government Agency (in Korea) that owns all Gates/Dungeons that Guilds have to buy access rights to. The Association also hires the low level freelancer Hunters to clear out all the low end Dungeons that the Big Guilds ignore.
I like that you guys spoke about awakening and how random it is. But 1 thing i notice about the awakened is how it coresponds with talent and hard work. Whatever specialty you are how good or how rare you are in your feild of expertise determines your rank.
In South Korea, the top 5 guilds are: Hunter, White Tiger, Reaper, Fame, and Knight These aren't to be confused with the Hunter's Association, and on an international level, none of the top 5 in SK would be on a list of top 10.
