These videos are just fantastic:D I love how you put truth across in such a funny entertaining way - God-given gift for sure! Also I LOVE the way you refer to the biblical texts in their original languages, something I've noticed in many of your videos. You're really opening up the scriptures for us and certainly inspiring me to read into the language itself more when I study! Merry Christmas!:D

That's hilarious Jon! I completely agree with you on Christmas. I don't mind the traditions (tree and stuff) but my family and I don't observe them anymore just because we can't be bothered to be completely honest. We don't feel the excitement of decorations and all that stuff.
But what we do observe is remembering the birth of the Light of this world.
    Keep being awesome :)

Hey Jon I don't know if you will see this or be willing to but there is a series on UA-cam called the fuel project: know your enemy. If you feel led to watch it, it is very cool and a different perspective. I love the video and I was really happy to see how you exposed some Christmas "facts" that people did not realize were fiction. Anyways have a great new year and I hope you see this and do check out the video because a lot of the information revealed in this series you can see it now a days as well. Keep doing these videos man! Their awesome and indefinitely keep watching! Happy new year!

Thank you for this video Jon. Every year, Christmas has always been a source of contention in our home. My husband is one of "those" Christians who doesn't celebrate and never has. My family on the other hand, did all of the secular traditions but didn't really recognize the birth of Jesus. The dilemma we have now is that we have a 3 month old and can't come to an agreement on how to handle Christmas. My husband brought up the question of, what would Jesus think of all of the materialism and such if he were to come back today? A very valid question.. anyways do you have any ideas or thoughts on what we can do to make it fun for our daughter but still do what would be pleasing to God?

Celebrating Santa isn't of God. People lie to their children that Santa is real. Santa mocks God the Father. God gives good gifts to His children and Santa gives out gifts... and santa sees you when you are sleeping and when you are awake and knows if you have been naughty or nice... God knows these things and knows everything....the devil mocks God with santa. Now is celebrating Christ centered Christmas evil and giving people gifts because you love them? No I think that's ok, but Santa is not good.

    • @gurly1here
      @gurly1here 8 років тому +3

funblog I see what u mean but when they grow up and learn that Santa isn't real and it's really been their parents the whole time and they were lying to them they can also think God is a myth and a lie. Satan invented the concept of Santa.

i am so happy the bit about Bethlehem is understood ! i should know because i lived near there most of my life! however i will take it a step forward and say that the place that Josef stad was probably his own family home. if you think of the reason that Joseph came to Bethlehem in the first place it makes sense that he would stay at his family's home and not at a stranger's. when Jesus stayed in different cities he would visit often his friends and stay at their houses. in any case I would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year .

Just a thought, the shepherds were in the middle east, so their winter would not have been as cold as it is in the American Midwest. This week in Israel weather is in the 50's. So December still is probable.

And in the end, does it really matter what DAY Jesus was born? We should worship God for sending Jesus, no matter the time of year. Christmas is just what is universally celebrated in varying ways.
I just appreciate mostly that, Jon, you talked about Herod and parts of the story of Jesus' birth that people get confused by because Nativity scenes, however beautiful, aren't an accurate depiction of who was there (i.e. the 3 wise men seeing Mary and Joseph long after their stable birth).
This is a very important discussion. I'm glad you brought it to the table.

    • @emberguard5009
      @emberguard5009 8 років тому

Deuteronomy 12:29-32 is a good verse to look at for this discussion. Specifically out of that: " do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ " The whole reason it's on Dec 25th is because that was a Pagan holiday for a Pagan God. So yes, it matters
If we are to honour God it should be through a manner that would please God. Based on Jeremiah 10:1-5 I'd say the Christmas tree is out. Many pagan religions used trees and tree branches to decorate their homes in honour of their Gods which is where the Christmas Tree originates from.

Just want to point out Jon that in the middle east December 25th is in winter, however in the middle east winter is not cold, snowy like we see it in the Northern Hemisphere but it is just colder than there summer. So if Jesus was born on December 25th your argument of Mary and Joseph travelling through the cold winter is dependent upon if you are saying within there context it was cold or meaning cold like we would use that term in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning temperatures below freezing. Just checking what you are meaning by winter and cold.

watching this in summer doesn't feel so awkward because of what I've learned in Christian Christmas 😆
sometimes I think I just find excuses to celebrate celebration I used to enjoy about even though I know it's from Pagan. But thank God He is our guidance and help us learn the real motive of everything. I mean like our culture in our country suppose it's not Godly but it's not bad to wear cultural dress or do ancient habit. In every generations to come, God's Words is very practical 😊

What about the Scriptural feast days/holidays that Father wishes to meet with us?
Why did the disciples continue to keep these feast days, minus sacrificing animals, after the Messiah ascended into heaven?
Why would you want to mix anything of our Messiah with any thing pagan at all?
Why would you want to even try and justify it so you can continue in this paganism?
I wish to please Father and what he has asked of me over what he actually told us not to do, "Don't be like those and do what they do" meaning idolatry and pagan worship. I pray you reconsider and research deeper. Follow not man and the things of this world.
Therefore, whoever knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.
    James 4:17
    Be Blessed!

Want more truth? A man named Justin Martyr (b. 100 CE, d. 165 CE) believed that Jesus was the fulfillment of the Hebraic prophecies. A challenge was made to him that various tales of God-Men, working miracles, born of virgins & so on had been told long before Jesus was born. Martyr's retort was that "the devil" knew of these Hebraic prophecies about the coming messiah & used them to construct various religions/Mystery Religions to deceive people away from Jesus.

    • @kipmcewen949
      @kipmcewen949 8 років тому +1

Cont... The problem with Martyr's retort is that long before Jesus was born, it was taught that Dionysus could turn water into wine. There are no Hebraic prophecies of the messiah turning water into wine (per John chapter 2) for "the devil" to toy with, and yet this tale found its way into John chapter 2.

    • @kipmcewen949
      @kipmcewen949 8 років тому +1

Finished... Long before Jesus was born it was taught within Mithraism that Mithras was visited by wise men. There are no Hebraic prophecies of the messiah being visited by wise men for "the devil" to toy with, and yet this tale found its way into Matthew chapter 2. The logical conclusion is that Christianity is yet another Mystery Religion or that Christians incorporated these tales into the New Testament.

    1. You're stating "Christmas to me", we do not worship God according to how we feel or choose to worship him.
    2. There can be so many different dates and times you can choose to acknowledge the messiah's birth but you choose to do it around the time the whole world is celebrating it.
    3. Jesus never authorised for his birthday to be celebrated, you can acknowledge it, bible says to be set apart. You know Christmas has pagan roots but you still choose to justify it to satisfy your flesh.
    4. I don't recall in the bible an example where men of God used pagan celebration roots to bring people to Christ

Celebrating Christmas is not a pagan practices. It is Biblical and historical. Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. The birth of coming Mesiah of Israel. In Matthew 2 the three wise men King travel in the land of Bethlehem when they saw a bright shining star that bright light shining the direction toward in a manger where Jesus Christ. The three wisenen rejoice and celebrate upon seeing Jesus Christ inside the manger they offered a gift upon celebrating Jesus birth, they offered gold, frankincense and myrrh, and they now down and worship Jesus Christ. Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus the coming of Mesiah the savior of men sinners. Jesus is Christ is God incarnate and became man. In Philippian 2:6,7 although Jesus Christ is God and equal to God the Father, he did not desired to be equal to God the Father but instead he humble himself, and became an ordinary man as slaves. Jesus Christ redeem us from penalty of death because of our sin. Jesus died on the cross in our behalf. Christmas is traditional celebrating of all Christian because historically an original it was celebrating by three wiseman and other shepherded inside the manger wherein Jesus born.

    The History of Christmas
“Christmas” is a shortened form of “Christ’s Mass”
Shortened in the 11th Century through translations
Mass is what Catholic’s call their Church service.
Christmas is a Tradition and not in the Bible
Before 336AD Catholic’s celebrated Jesus’s birth on January 6th, the Epiphany. The day the Magi or Wise Men came to present the New Born Jesus with their gifts.
    Matthew 2
(Wise Men from the East) 2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
Although not in the Bible, the Early Church Fathers tell us that there were 3 Wise Men or Magi and their names were Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthazar.
Gaspar (or Caspar), who has brown hair, a brown beard and wears a green cloak and a gold crown with green jewels on it. He is the King of Sheba. Gaspar brought the gift of Frankincense to Jesus.
Melchior, who has long white hair, a white beard and wears a gold cloak. He is the King of Arabia. Melchior brought the gift of Gold to Jesus.
Balthazar, who has dark skin, a black beard and wears a purple cloak. He is the King of Tarse and Egypt. Balthazar brought the gift of Myrrh to Jesus.
In 336 A.D. the first Catholic Christian Emperor, Constantine the Great, decided to celebrate Jesus’s actual birthday. He believed Jesus Christ’s birthday should be celebrated by going to Mass. Christmas is just a shortened form of Christ’s Mass. It is derived from the Middle English Cristemasse, which is from Old English Crīstesmæsse. Since nobody knew the actual day and there still wasn't a New Testament produced at the time. (Even after the New Testament was produced Jesus’s actual Birthday was still not in the New Testament.)
Constantine went by the TRADITION of the Early Church Fathers to decide the date that he would call Christ’s Mass or Christmas. From the early days of Christianity, Early Church Fathers celebrated the Annunciation of Mary on March 25th and still is today. This was the day Mary was told she was now with child, and she would name him Jesus by the ArchAngel Gabriel where he said.......
The Hail Mary is in the Bible
Hail Mary full of Grace. Luke 1:28
The Lord is with thee. Luke 1:28
Blessed are though among women. Luke 1:42
And Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus Luke 1:42
Holy Mary, mother of God. Luke 1:43
Nine months after March 25th is December 25th!
(March 25th is also the day the Early Church Fathers say our Lord was Crucified too)
Christmas is on December 25th for this reason!
Since some people are against any type of Marian theology they will say Christmas was originally a pagan holiday called Winter Solstice. Pagan’s celebrated 8 holidays throughout the year. Many of those were celebrated for several days at a time. Christmas is on December 25th and is not on the pagan holiday of Winter Solstice (Dec-20th-23rd) and never was associated with it either.
New Years -The World follows a Calendar called the Gregorian Calendar named after Pope Gregory XIII (1582). Pope Gregory made this new Calendar because Julius Caesar’s Calendar ‘the Julian Calendar’ never accounted for the 6 extra hours each year properly. Pope Gregory implemented leap year ( February 29th ) every 4 years in the Calendar to account for the extra 6 hours each year. He also changed New Years from April 1st (Several Countries celebrated New Years on different days also the day changed throughout the centuries) universally to January 1st . That is why we have April Fools Day. ‘April Fools’ were the people who would not recognize Pope Gregory’s Calendar celebrating January 1st as New Year’s Day!
Early Church Fathers on the Epiphany & Christmas
Hyppolytus of Rome, Commentary on the book of Daniel (c. A.D. 204)
For the first advent of our Lord in the flesh, when he was born in Bethlehem, was December 25th, Wednesday, while Augustus was in his forty-second year, but from Adam, five thousand and five hundred years. He suffered death in the thirty-third year, March 25th, Friday, the eighteenth year of Tiberius Caesar, while Rufus and Roubellion were Consuls, the same day the angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary.
Gregory Thaumaturgus Four Homilies 4th homily (213-275 ad)
For even though the festival of the Epiphany of the Saviour has past, the grace of the same yet abides with us through all
John Cassian Conference 10 ch 2 (360-435 ad)
This custom is by ancient tradition observed that when the Epiphany is past, which the priests of that province regard as the time of our Lord's baptism, and so celebrate the commemoration of either mystery not separately as in the Western provinces but on the single festival of this day,(1)--letters are sent from the Bishop of Alexandria through all the Churches, by which the beginning of Lent, and the day of Easter are pointed out not only in all the cities but also in all the monasteries.
Augustine on the Holy Trinity Book 4 ch 5.9 (354-430 ad)
For He is believed to have been conceived on the 25th of March upon which day he also suffered his death; so the womb of the Virgin, in which He was conceived, where no one of mortals was begotten, corresponds to the new grave in which He was buried, wherein was never man laid, neither before nor since. But He was born according to tradition nine months later, upon December the 25th. If, then you reckon from that day to this you find two hundred and seventy-six days which is forty-six times six. And in this number of years the temple was built, because in that number of sixes the body of the Lord was perfected; which being destroyed by the suffering of death, He raised again on the third day.
Sulpitius Severus Sacred History ch 27 (363-420 ad)
Under Herod, in the thirty-third year of his reign, CHRIST was born on the twenty-fifth of December, nine months from the Virgin Mary’s conception.
Augustine Exposition on Psalm 133 par 8 (354-430 ad)
The former was born, as the tradition of the Church shows, on the 24th of June, when the days begin to shorten. The Lord was born on the 25th of December, when the days begin to lengthen

Christmas traditions have and always will be pagan, easter as well, and the olympics. Now catholicism/the pope and those in the catholic hierarchy already knew paganism was in the church since rome had made it catholicism the only religion, thus paganism would easily be integrated into catholicism to accommodate the pagans. So of course the holiday traditions were stamped as christian and they added in the story of the birth of Christ more or less since this is still catholicism which started this snowball, then they would strategically through a period of debates add on a Christian mask/theme/twisted origin, and now it is what it is today, all because of them.So as one od the ten commandments say "thou shall not bear false witness",why do christians and everyone else who celebrate it lie to their children because later on they will find the truth or be told the truth, some will take it well and some won't,so then the child loses trust in their parents, then they also question God's existence and question the validity of His Word, they also lose trust in the other adults related to them, furthermore santa distracts them from real person who they should really obey and who actually sees them, which is God,His Son,His Holy Spirit,so why on earth tell a story so ridiculous that they look forward to gifts more than worshipping and giving thanks to that around sometime in the December the Lord and Savior of the world was born, albeit them distraction from the real "Christmas story" that isn't scrooge or nutcracker not frosty,so remember God will hold all them accountable for lying, also santa and thenutcracker both have a fair share of magic, and it's obvious God sees that as an abomination since magic comes satanism/paganism.Also God has always been against the focus on graven images,SO WHY A TREE OF ALL THINGS A TREE AND THE LIGHTS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE,BLOW UP AIR THINGS,AND REEFS,STOCKINGS,THE RIDICULOUS COSTUMES FOR PARTIES,ALL LITERAL WASTE OF MONRY.Remember the incredibly clear verse in the scriptures warning about holding creation above the CREATOR,as well as the verse that spoke of holding fun/pleasures over the CREATOR as well. Now the songs there isn't much of a problem but over half are still focusing on the creation and pagan traditions ALONE instead of Christ Jesus.
