- More players have withdrawn from Wimbledon 2024 including Rafael Nadal, Belinda Bencic and Jiri Lehecka. With many more are in doubt including Aryna Sabalenka, Andy Murray, Elena Rybakina and Novak Djokovic. How many of those in doubt will miss the third slam of the year?

f Djokovic’s injury is real, and I have no reason to doubt it, I think the Joker should take a humble step back and skip Wimbledon entirely! He’d only risk ruining his shot at the Olympics, and in this condition, I think he’d get smacked around by any top player. Time’s catching up with him, and his final retirement is getting closer. He needs to accept it.

I was just at court side at Queen's Club watching Andy Murray, the man couldn't really move below the waist... As for the bright side, I hope the All England Club gives entry to Bigu and Mensik, the former top juniors are looking amazing. With Wimby, a star can always be born.

Djokovic will probably play but i doubt he will go deep. But what this does mean is that Alcaraz will drop to #3 seed which brings up the prospect of another Sinner Alcaraz semi. Sinner must be hoping he doesn't play so Alcaraz ends up on the nottom half of the draw.
Good point. However I think chances are 50-50 for a 1-3 or 1-4 set up. But yeah, Sinner & Alcaraz 1 & 2 makes them meet in the final earliest.

Well, whether he plays him in the semis or in the final doesn't really matter as he intends to win the tournament. If he's hoping someone else takes out Alcaraz in the semis, then you may be right.

I agree with what you wrote. Regardless of whom will WIN Wimbledon, a Final between Sinner and Alcaraz would be fantastic. It wouldn't be fair of Djoker to ruin this prospect, just to use Wimbledon to "train" for 1 or 2 matches.
I don't know how Djoko expects to play 100% if he can't even lean on his leg at the moment or put any weight on it, which I noticed at his practice session.
It could be a mind game, let's wait and see.

Poor Lehecka he had to withdraw from the olympics too. He was on a serious run in Madrid and then that happened...

Bencic gave birth on 23rd APR 2024. She played last match on September 12, 2023. Before that she won first two rounds of US Open on 2nd of September. I didn't know that at 3 months of pregnancy, you are still physically capable of doing things like before. Need to learn some biology
I’m sorry, I just can’t support Novak playing Wimbledon. The surgery, the more-than-short prep/practice time, clay to grass then back to clay? In Novak’s current state, I feel like that’s ASKING for TROUBLE in the injury department. Definitely think he should sit Wimbledon out and prepare for the Olympics in every way possible if his goal is to win there.

I think Queen of Withdrawals (aka Rybakina) will withdraw. If she doesn't withdraw, then you have to wonder whether she was faking all her retirements.
Djoker should give his slot to a player who needs the money.

I want to see Djokovic win 25 majors and I don't care how he does it. If he didn't hit the lines judge in the throat with a tennis ball and if he were vaxxed, he would've had 25 majors by now... but Novak is Novak. How do you control a volcano? It doesn't matter how healthy an athlete is, your knees have minds of their own. The only chance of Novak winning another major is if his entire body is up to the task. His knee is not. He must drop out of Wimbledon until his knee is fully recovered. Time keeps on ticking and the window to win another major is closing fast. Thankfully, Novak has the best doctors in the world to help him but will this be enough? Time will tell.

And Kvitova and Bencic didn't withdraw. Neither of them entered; they are both on leave.
