I did this as a works do. In the dark. I paddled down river away from the pub, around a bend and it was completely dark. I could hear the wave rushing up river but had no idea how big it was until it arrived. Then I ended up upriver, missed the access at the pub, had to climb a tree to get out. Then we all went to the pub. Best works do ever. Full respect to Hamish for organising it, would have loved to see the risk assessment!
I've been a professional driver in my time, and can never understand why people who are driving need to turn their heads in even the slightest way when talking, or be distracted from the road in front of them when they have everyone's safety in their hands. It is just a easy to talk with your eyes on the road, and do the right thing by everybody.
@@RyanOsmond It's the tidal surge travelling up an ever-shrinking funnel shaped river. There is so much water coming up the river and less and less space for it, the tide effectively "trips over" itself causing the constant wave. I think. There are 2 tides every day and each one is a small wave but only classed as a bore when it's over a certain height.
Looks like a rad time! Bit crowded though, but I understand why. And a gnarly ass bushwhack at the end.. Nice work! 🤙

This is where SUPs belong. A river or lake.
Skp to 4:22 for the most of nothing.
Not sure what the hate is about. Looks like a lot of fun, and a well produced short video

I never understand why people bitch about the smallest things, but hey, everyone is different
Same as looking at your speedo, enter or dash board or radio or work bag or clock
It’s actually better for the brain to break up the monotony

I believe it's a strong tidal surge coming from the ocean.

Tidal surge is only part of it
